Overview
You don’t have to manually install the R18 unlock or mod the game to uncensor it, you can just use HF Patch to do it automatically and add a bunch of new features along the way. This guide tells you what exactly it does, how to get it and how to install it.
About HF Patch
An unofficial patch for VR Kanojo with all free updates, fully modeled uncensors and essential mods. This patch is meant for the Steam version of the game.

What’s included?
HF Patch includes and installs by default:
- R18 unlock (you don’t have to install anything other than the base game)
- Full uncensor with multiple different models
- Fixes for common issues with the game and mods like botched mod installs
- This patch makes it possible to play the game without a VR headset, but expect it to be a janky experience (camera doesn’t center and you can’t touch, but it should be possible to finish the game). Playing with an HMD is a much better experience.

Note that HF Patch does not contain the full game, paid expansions or any other pirated content. The full game needs to be already installed for the patch to work. You can buy the game on Steam.
How to install the patch?
- Install VR Kanojo and download the latest version of the patch from here[github.com].
- (Optional) Verify local files on Steam to make sure the game is fully up to date and not corrupted. To do so, find the game in the library, then go to Properties > Local files > Verify.
- Install the patch by following the wizard. You can choose which mods to install midway, but it’s best to leave default settings if you’re new to this. If you want to get the full save then you have to select it since it’s optional.
- If the default install path of the patch doesn’t work (if for example you moved your Steam library to a different folder), you have to point the patch to where the game is installed. If you are not sure where to look: Find the game in the library, then go to Properties > Local files > Browse and point the patch to the folder than opens (it should have VR Kanojo.exe in it).
- Run the game and try pressing F1 to check if everything is working correctly. A plugin configuration window should appear on your display (it will not appear in your HMD).
FAQ / Notes
- You can configure many plugins by Pressing F1 and then “Plugin settings”. You can also see most of the plugin hotkeys in this menu (and change them).
- You can prevent Steam from showing you play the game by starting the .exe manually (not from the Steam library). Make your games private to be extra sure. The game can also run with Steam turned off. Just know that we won’t judge you for your hours played 🙂
- Do not use uncensors that replace files inside abdata with this patch (or any other mods that replace game files). New uncensors should go inside BepInExUncensors and have a UncensorInfo.xml file added to them, check existing uncensors for an example.
- The mods included in the patch don’t modify any game files and can be easily disabled by removing the “winhttp.dll” file from your game directory. Official patches are applied permanently.
- You can install HF Patch over almost any game install and have it work perfectly, and you can run it again to enable/disable some plugins. This patch will automatically fix many broken game/mod installs and common issues. Just make sure to let it remove all old mods when asked.
- This patch is meant for the Steam version of the game and will likely not work properly with the original Japanese release.
