Overview
Builds for normal legend run. Some of the breakpoints cannot be reached without red item. Use this Reddit post to calculate your own breakpoints.
Mercenary (Xsword + Repeater)
Screaming abilities (Mercenary, Iron Breaker, Witch Hunter Caption) have couple special properties:
- Your ability range is a “sphere”. It can go upper or down floors and go through walls. You can save your teammates with this trick.
- You can use your “scream” while reviving teammates or healing. Use it to create some spaces.
- All abilities/item that can stun boss will pull their aggro to you. So if you are not ready or your teams mates can kite the boss pretty well, don’t use your ult mindlessly.
LVL 5
With the heal from your career ability, Mercenary can put all his talent point into damage output.
LVL 10
Desperate Defiance isn’t working most of the time since you will regen your temp hp very quickly. The More The Merrier is not necessary for breakpoints but is better than the other two choices.
LVL 15
Increase your ability to clean hordes.
LVL 20
Hitting enemies to regen is currently the most versatile level 20 talent. You will regen 1 hp even if you hit one enemy. It is more reliable than kill to regen on Mercenary.
LVL 25
With less cooldown, you can even trade hit to gain your career skill charge with hordes.
Xsword has low light attack damage, but it has very high headshot bonus. Also, your light attack can chain stun SV(need headshot), Mauler, plague monk. Chaos berzerker and CW cannot be stopped by your light attacks.
When fighting horde/multiple elites, use chain light attacks and try to headshot.
When fighting single unit, use heavy attack. It also has 20% extra crit chance.
Breakpoints: 10% skaven, 10% chaos
One shot-headshot hordes with light attack.
One shot-headshot SV with charged attack.
One shot-bodyshot Marauder with charged attack.
Three shot-headshot CW with charged attack.
5% crit chance to save ammo.
Breakpoints: 10% infantry, 10% chaos
One shot-body shot assassin and Marauder
Two shot-body shot SV and rest specials.
Three shot-bodyshot hookrat and Mauler.
Extra stamina for CC and extra health. Boon of Shallya can be replaced by Barkskin to survive gas/bile troll vomit/storm fiend fire/vortex.
To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.
Best choice if your team decide to take grim.
Mercenary (Halberd + Repeater)
Screaming abilities (Mercenary, Iron Breaker, Witch Hunter Caption) have couple special properties:
- Your ability range is a “sphere”. It can go upper or down floors and go through walls. You can save your teammates with this trick.
- You can use your “scream” while reviving teammates or healing. Use it to create some spaces.
- All abilities/item that can stun boss will pull their aggro to you. So if you are not ready or your teams mates can kite the boss pretty well, don’t use your ult mindlessly.
LVL 5
Push attack is the core move of halberd anti-elites attack pattern so stamina is the key. It is superior than put extra stamina on weapon properties.
LVL 10
Desperate Defiance isn’t working most of the time since you will regen your temp hp very quickly. The More The Merrier is not necessary for breakpoints but is better than the other two choices.
LVL 15

Halberd has high raw damage and long reach. It may a bit slow but with Paced Strikes + Swift Slaying you don’t need to push during hordes.
For horde, use combo Push-Light sweep-Push-Light sweep until Swift Slaying is up. After that, use Light sweep-Block cancel-Light sweep combo.
For elites, use combo Push attack-Light overhead.
For multiple high HP infantry units or when you are running low stamina fighting elites, use heavy attacks.
Breakpoints: 10% chaos, Reikland Reaper(Talent)
One shot-bodyshot fanatic with light sweep
Two shot-bodyshot Marauder with light overhead (by default)
Two shot-headshot SV with light overhead (by default)
Four shot-bodyshot Mauler with light overhead
Six shot-headshot CW with light overhead (by default)
5% crit chance to save ammo.
Breakpoints: 10% infantry, 10% chaos
One shot-body shot assassin and Marauder
Two shot-body shot SV and rest specials.
Three shot-bodyshot hookrat and Mauler.
Extra stamina for CC and extra health. Boon of Shallya can be replaced by Barkskin to survive gas/bile troll vomit/storm fiend fire/vortex.
To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.
Best choice if your team decide to take grim.
Huntsman (Sword + Handgun)
- Huntsman career ability can make you invisible, but you cannot walk through enemies, and it also slows down your movement speed by 10% and dodge distance by 5%.
- You don’t consume any ammo during your career ability. If you have 0 ammo, active your ability will give you one clip.
LVL 5
Reloading speed is the best for handgun build.
LVL 10
For increase damage output. Notes this talent cannot be stacked with other similar abilities, they are WHC tag, Slayer Crippling Wounds talent,
LVL 15
Extra ammo regen. With this talent you don’t really need to aim accurately, occasionally doing some headshot will refill your pouch very quickly. Although in theory, you should use reload speed talent for optimal boss damage.
LVL 20
Stagger to regen should be used with 1h sword. Use the heavy attack after you gain the attack speed boost from swift slaying. When you are using the heavy attack, the 2nd and 3rd clan rats/ fanatics you hit will give you 1.5 temp hp each. But the swing that kills them will not regen you.
Since Huntsman kills most of the elites in range, kill to regen is not recommended.
LVL 25
Extra ammo and clutching ability. With CD reduction, you can use your ult whenever there are more than 3 elites in your sight. Although in theory, you should use I’m Coming For Ya talent for optimal boss damage.
In current patch, 1h sword can be considered as a top tier melee weapon. Your heavy attack can stun most of CW’s move except his running overhead attack. High stamina, high dodge ability, super versatile. Use the Heavy-Heavy-Light overhead combo to deal with armour units.
Since you have 5% crit aura, using stamina instead of crit chance to increase CC ability and lower your crit chance so you can regen more from hordes.
Breakpoints:
Heavy-Heavy-Light overhead combo kill SV with all headshots by deafult.
5% crit chance for increased chance of killing Mauler in one shot.
Breakpoints: 20% infantry, 10% chaos
WIthout career skill:
One shot-bodyshot all specials.
Two shot-bodyshot Mauler.
Three shot-headshot CW.
With career skill:
One shot-bodyshot Mauler
Three shot-bodyshot CW.
Two shot-headshot CW.
Extra stamina and health. Huntsman with handgun build should focus on elites in the mid-back line instead of fighting hordes in the front line, so choose Natural Bond to heal from mobs’ scratches, but if you are too easy to go down use other traits.
To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.
Best choice if your team decide to take grim.
Huntsman (Mace + Shotgun)
- Huntsman career ability can make you invisible, but you cannot walk through enemies, and it also slows down your movement speed by 10% and dodge distance by 5%.
- You don’t consume any ammo during your career ability. If you have 0 ammo, active your ability will give you one clip.
LVL 5
Reloading speed is the best for shotgun build.
LVL 10
For increase damage output. Notes this talent cannot be stacked with other similar abilities, they are WHC tag, Slayer Crippling Wounds talent,
LVL 15
This level of talents all don’t work great on shotgun due to its weird hitbox for headshot.
LVL 20
Kill to regen should be used with melee weapons that can kill elites fast. Although Huntsman kills most of elites with range weapons, shotgun build does need to kill most CW and some SV with melee.
Stagger to regen just don’t work well with mace.
LVL 25
With CD reduction, you can use your ult whenever there are more than 3 elites in your sight. I’m Coming For Ya talent doesn’t increase your ability to kill boss by a lot.
Mace has great dodge and high stamina. Its heavy attack chain is also very fast, making it better to kill CW than 1h sword. Also for shotgun build, you don’t want to waste ammo on single fanatic or Marauder. Mace kill them faster than sword.
It dose struggle against dense chaos hordes. For that, use Push attack-Light sweep-Light sweep combo or just use shotgun.
Breakpoints: 10% chaos
Two shot Marauder with one charge headshot and one light body shot
Two shot SV using charge attacks, one charge attacks landed on their head (by default)
The best part of shotgun build is that you kill most of units with range weapons and you can also regen your ammo very fast. Use shotgun whenever there are more than 3 mobs or there is a elite.
You can one shot all type of untis except CW and Boss. Make sure to get closer untill you are certain about you can one shot them.
Use ult to save ammo and kill CW/Boss. Though your damage against them is still low.
5% crit for extra chance to active Scrounger. You can also triger Scrounger with your right click bash.
Breakpoints: 10% skaven, 10% chaos
It reduces the pallets to kill Mauler to 6 and SV to 9.
Extra stamina and health. Shotgun build kills most of the stuff with range weapons. You will take little damage. Use Natural Bond to heal from mobs’ scratches, but if you are too easy to go down use other traits.
To reach the breakpoints mentioned above.
Best choice if your team decide to take grim.
Foot Knight (S&M + Shotgun)
Charging abilities (Foot Knight, Slayer, Handmaiden, Zealot, Battle Wizard) have couple special properties:
- When you hold your career skill button (F by default), your charging path or landing position will be shown.
- You are not invincible during charge. Hold the mouse right button when you start charging to block. However gas, fire, bullet, vomit, vortex will still hurt you.
- During the charge, you can click mouse right button to stop charging.
- All career (except Handmaiden with invisible talent) should avoid charging right into the horde. You will go down quicker than you thought.
- Only Foot Knight, Handmaiden, Zealot can active charge in the air. However among all charging abilities, Foot Knight is the only one that cannot go through gaps.
- You can use your charge while reviving teammates or healing. Use it to create some spaces.
- All abilities/item that can stun boss will pull their aggro to you. So if you are not ready or your teams mates can kite the boss pretty well, don’t use your ult mindlessly.
LVL 5
Foot Knight already has enough tankiness. Choose attack speed talent for extra damage output.
LVL 10
Very powerful talent for weapons that can pull out heavy attack quickly.
LVL 15
Extra two stamina for the whole team means more CC. It will some-what increase your damage output if your melee weapon has strong push attack.
LVL 20
Hitting enemies to regen is currently the most versatile level 20 talent. You will regen 1 hp even if you hit one enemy.
Stagger to regen should be chosen when you are using 2h hammer or shield weapons.
LVL 25
The CC ability that FK ult provides is not that important anymore. 25% extra power level will make it easier to fight against multiple elites.
Here is a DLC mace and sword build.
For Executioner Sword build talent, use the one above. For items, see the Mercenary part.
Mace and sword has low cleave on light attack and low AP damage on heavy. However, its push-attack move has “linesman” property, which means you will cleave through all the unit you hit and not be stopped by armour/shield. With tons of stamina/stamina regen from your items and talents, you should use Heavy attack-Push attack-Heavy attack combo to CC and kill hordes efficiently. Use your career skill to boost your attack power when fighting against chaos horde or when you are running low stamina.
Breakpoints: 10% skaven
Two shot-headshot SV with charged attacks by default. You need to land all four of them.
Three shot-bodyshot SV with charged attacks.
5% crit for extra chance to active Scrounger. You also triger Scrounger with your right click bash. Also your bash can trigger Build Momentum to regen your stamina.
Breakpoints: 10% skaven and 10% chaos/infantry
It reduce the pallets to kill Mauler to 6 and SV to 9.
Extra stamina and health. Boon of Shallya can be replaced by Barkskin to survive gas/bile troll vomit/storm fiend fire/vortex.

Here is a Halberd build.
For Executioner Sword build talent, use the one above. For items, see the Mercenary part.
Halberd has high raw damage and long reach. It may a bit slow but with tons of stamina and stmina regen, killing hordes and CC can be easy.
For horde, use combo Push-Light sweep-Push-Light sweep until Swift Slaying is up. After that, use Light sweep-Block cancel-Light sweep combo and dodge. Since this build has low crit chance, you will use first combo most of time.
For elites, use combo Push attack-Light overhead.
For multiple high HP infantry units or when you are running low stamina fighting elites, use heavy attacks.
Using your charge ability to creat some space when you are running low stamina.
