How to master Half Life 2 Ep. 1

Overview

This Guide shows you how to get 100% of the achievements in Half Life 2 Ep. 1.Follow all the steps in the Guide to master the game.Good luck!

Developer console

This part is optional but can be useful.

To assign advanced commands and cheats you need the Console.
To do this you:
open up Options/Keyboard/Advanced

and tick “Enable developer console”.

Then, you toggle a Key to the Console in Keyboard/Miscellaneous/Toggle developer console.

After you have configured the console, press the assigned key to open the console.

For the Achievements to be unlocked the command

sv_cheats

should be set to “0” (default) during the game Walkthrough.

The One Free Bullet

The One Free Bullet
Finish the game firing exactly one bullet.

As hard as it may sounds, it is a very easy achievement which you can get on your first try.

There are two ways to get this achievement.

1.

1. You enable developer console
2. Start a new game
3. Type in developer console “sv_cheats 0”
4. Type in developer console “changelevel ep1_c17_06”
5. Finish the level without using anything else than the rpg and gravity gun

or

You start a legitimate game and play it until the chaper “Lowlife”. You climb through your first air-duct and land in an completely dark room with a locked door, in which you need to shoot only one bullet in the lock to open up the door.
After this you may not use your weapon again, but grenades, rockets, crowbar and the Gravity Gun are allowed weapons to use.

Story Achievements

This kind of Achievements you get during your first Playthrough.

Watch Your Head!
Make it to the bottom of the Citadel’s main elevator shaft in one piece.

Containment
Contain the Citadel core.

Elevator Action
Survive long enough to get on the parking garage elevator.

Attica!
Survive long enough to get on the parking garage elevator.

Escape From City 17
Escape City 17 with Alyx.

This Achievements cannot be missed or something. You get them automatically!

Achievements

The achievements are categorized as easy or hard but doesn´t require any particular skills to be completed.

This achievements are in chronological order for an easy understanding

Think Fast!
Kill an Elite Soldier with his own energy ball.

Right after you start the chapter “Direct Intervention” you are confronted with elite soldiers who are able th shoot energy balls who you can catch with the gravity gun and shoot back.
Take the ball and shoot it back to the soldier.

Pacifist
Contain the Citadel core without killing any stalkers.

It is a very easy achievement, where you only should be fast enough to run over the bridges.
It shouldn´t take so much time to complete.

Conservationist
Kill five enemies with the same energy ball.

It is recommended to save before you start this achievement as it takes some try´s.
The video below does show how to complete it.
You need to trap the soldiers in the halway and launch the energy ball towards them.

Zombie-que
Use flares to light 15 zombies on fire.

When you encounter the first zombies in the dark tunnel you can find flares lying on the ground.
Picking them up lights them on fire and you have aprox. 50 seconds to smack the flares on the zombies to light them up.
Use the opportunity as early as possible in your playthrough to get this achievement fast.

Car Crusher
Use the cars to squash 15 antlions in Episode One.

You encounter your first antlions in Chapter “Lowlife”.
In difference to the base Half-Life 2 game you dont have the scrotum to make them harmless, you now need to use the cars to block the holes from where they spawn.
But for the 15 Antlions you use the Gravity Gun to shoot the cars towards the Antlions and kill 15 of them.

Live Bait
Help Alyx snipe 30 enemies in Episode One.

After you elevated yourself and Alyx on ground level and took out your first combine sniper of the game, you assist Alyx to kill Enemies
You just should find the balance between distance and safety and wait until she killed 30 enemies with your help.

Citizen Escort
Don’t let any citizens die when escorting them to the escape train.

The games from Valve are very aware of bugs and glitches and they can break any laws of physics and logic to prevent such things in games. In the last achievement of this section you just need to take citizens and rush through any danger and combines ASAP and arrive at the end trigger which teleports your followers to the end location without being hit by any bullet.
Quicksave your game after every run and keep your pace to survive your escort.
