Mabinogi Guide

Beginner's Big Bucks for Mabinogi

Beginner’s Big Bucks

Overview

OMG why is this item sooo expensive?! Oh my, how am I supposed to repair that weapon!? Ohboy, I think I have to fight in the nude now… Got fed up with all those worries? Read this guide!

Introduction ~ am I the right guy to read this?

Check: I just started.

Check: I might have played a while but I’m pretty nooby.

Check: I’m willing to put a bit of effort into this.

Check: I wanna buy cool stuff too!

Check: I’m free2play.

Got most/all of those checks? Read on then!

I might add some infos about cash shop items and gacha someday ~

Oh right, the guide starts with ways of collecting items to sell and ends with ways to actually sell them to other players!

Part Time Jobs ~ familiar isn’t it?

Talk to an NPC and start a conversation. Needs patience to keep going until your part time job offers advanced rewards (which happens after running the church job, for example, for about 101 times at slightly above 93% success rate).

(1) Holy Water + Homestead Seeds

Dunbarton Healer’s House, Church + Grocery Store

NPCs: (1) Manus, (2) Kristell, (3) Glenis

Preparations: It is recommended to collect eggs (need bare hands, hens are north of Dun), potatoes (need weeding hoe, all around Dun), berries (just hit any tree in Dun long enough) and apples (north of Dun, hit any apple tree long enough) beforehand and put them into some pet or the bank.

Task: In Dunbarton do 3 part time jobs in one Mabi day. This can be a small challenge. Start with Manus at 6am Mabi time and then continue with Kristell at 12 pm. Don’t do Manus’ part time job if he asks for wool, wool means no Holy Water. Now you should have at least 4 Holy Water and at most 22 Holy Water a Mabi day per character – depending on your talent and part time job level. Do Glenis’ job in the end, because it does not matter if you fail – your part time job level does not influence the amount of seeds you obtain.

Pricing: 10 Holy water ~20k. Seeds around 5k+ each seed, most people only want Cabbage and Pumpkin.

(2) Falias Fragments

Tara, Bank

Task: In a Mabi day morning go to the banker in Tara, he will ask you to deliver a package to some random player. Quite bothersome, because most of them will be AFK, busy or plain ignore you (I haven’t succeeded even once).

Pricing: One Fragment costs 50-100k on Mari.

(3) Wooden Boards & Avg/Fine Firewood

Port Cobh, Lighthouse

Task: Talk to Ascon starting 12pm. Rank F Handicraft is needed.

Pricing: Each Wood Board… about 5-10k maybe. Not sure about Average Firewood. Fine Firewood goes for max. 60k each stack (10) on Mari.

Events ~ be the best opportunist

Are you one of those temptation-resistant people or maybe someone with a lot of free-time on your hands? Lots of people make their cash by selling event-stuff instead of keeping it.

With the OX quiz it was the tickets that could easily net you 2k per ticket (2k*30=60k per won quiz round).

The Snow Ball event provided us with box parts we could sell for good 20k.

The Pillow event gave us feathers to sell, I saw a stack go for 15k.

The Homestead Event provides dyes (~50k each) and Homestead seedlings (like Cherry tree!) as rewards.

The idea is to keep an eye on the prices and make use of whatever’s currently running.

Belvast Boobies ~ time to be sketching dem!

Slevin, the elf at the lighthouse in Belvast, has this quest available every real time day.

Accept the quest… (picture and info below is from wiki)

  • For Melee-related Enchants, choose “Black-Winged Booby”, which has a white body and gray wings.
  • For Archer-related Enchants, choose “Black Booby”, which has a black body and wings.
  • For Mage- and Alchemist-related Enchants, choose “Blue-winged booby”, which has a white body and blue wings.

Buy sketch paper from the NPC and go find the Boobies. You got to ride past the center with the wish tree and up the stairs once, then to the left – towards the cliffs. They are difficult to sketch, very shy and like to run away. After this hardship is over deliver the sketch to Slevin. Finish the quest. You’ll receive a Bundle of Enchant Scrolls & a Belvast Seal. Either sell the Bundle itself for max. 50k – or open it, it may have some decent enchant included.

I recommend archer type, because it sold best for me~

Ahhh Ancient ~ who hesitates loses

Recommend for players who got used to battle by now and can confidently defeat a mob 1vs1.

Any mob may become an Ancient after 5 hours of idle.

Find them!

By now you should be able to kill White Spider and Fox Ancients. Change channel and location a lot and to do it at dead times and in empty places.

Worthy items: 10 cm Gems (~40k), Ancient Powder (~200k), skill book pages (~100k), Highlander Bow (~300k), Thames Armor, Bohemian set parts, and upgrade stones (~ 80k each). From experience I can say that it’s worth it, for I could afford decent gear after playing my Alexina character for 2 days. At the same time I gained decent EXP, win-win.

Tip! Hunt during rain and/or on Wednesday when the drop rate increases in the wild (not dungeons).

Par Ruins medley ~ icy dungeon

The Snow Crystals are a rare drop from the reward room of Par Ruins in Vales (east of town). It is fairly easy to complete. This item goes for around 100-200k!

Drop any item (but snow crystal haha!) to enter.

Snow Imps drop gold ingots ~ a full stack (=20 ingots) is worth a bit of gold.

Glowing Warrior Sketch ~ winwin situation

to be added.

Exploration EX ~ it’s the boards!

to be added soon.

Personal Shop ~ how do I sell items?

There are various ways of selling! ~

(1) Nickname (press F ingame; then Options): if you got many friends announce what you sell as your nickname! Someone might be interested.

(2) Forums. You can mention stuff you sell on the official nexon forum.

(3) Dungeon Party (press P ingame; then choose Dungeon radio button and fill in all the fields): The usual format is “S>insert item name here insert price here insert way of contact here”; for example “S>HolyWater 15k/stack Note”. Keep the party open, everyone on the same channel will be able to see it in the party chat.

Now the big boss point!!

(4) Personal Shop

What you’ll need:

* A shop bag. if you got one from an event you can decide whether to use or sell it (they go for 500k-1m now). Buy the shop bag any general store NPC, I recommend either the Kiosk or strongly recommend the 8×6 item bag for 37,500G.

* A merchant license (4,250G – has to be bought again once you earned some money with your shop and you closed your shop, only to re-open it) and a brownie (3,250g – expires after 24 hours), if you don’t want to afk nearby or use a pet up. You can get both of it in the city bank where you want to sell (for selling in Dunbarton go to the Dunbarton bank). Talk to the banker, go to his/her shop and check the tabs.

Ever heard of the 4 p’s? Product, Price, Promotion, Place. They count in Mabinogi too.

* A good place. Best is usually in front of the bank on the Dunbarton square – or in front of the housing boards or the moon gate outside.

* A good price. only overprize if you want offers. Tell your customers you want offers! It’s fine to be in the higher price categories.

* Good promotion. Either use a catching shop title – or make a party promoting your best product. The old but efficient way of just telling others might work too.

Fan Fun ~ creating art

Recommended for people who are very good at art! The idea is to show off your skills with a few examples and then offer to draw the characters of other players for ingame money.

To get an idea about the prices and expected quality take a look at the links further down. This kind of business can only be run on the forums as far as I know.

Tip: Previews with strong watermarks to avoid getting scammed. Payment first, mail picture after method.

Generation Guidance ~ follow the line!

Generation 1 and Generation 17 give some gold. It’s good money for cheap repairs and similar stuff. After those quests I had about 50k+ in my bag.

The final word

I hope this guide helped some of you to get just a bit richer ~

More pictures will be added soon.
