Intro

There are 3 main basic tactics for defense in timber and stone

  • Walls

Walls

Basic wall knowlage:
Most mobs can’t climb 2 blocks high walls. Except spiders.
Avoid building walls out of wood, in case of a necromancer, He can burn them down with his randomn fireballs.
It’s always a good idea to have only one way to enter your base

At least 2 blocks high walls

Cons

Trenches

Basic wall knowlage:
Most mobs can’t climb 2 blocks high walls. Except spiders.
It’s always a good idea to have only one way to enter your base

At leat 2 blocks deep tench
Defense level: moderate

Pros
Cons

Migrants tend to agro enemies ango out in the wildernes to fight
Spiders can climb in your base

Trench/Moat tip:

You can use scafolding as an improvised drawbridge.

If a horde too big to mele fight is coming to your town you can do the fallowing:
Select the dig tool. And select the scafolding with it.

Use it on the scafolding (scadfolding doesn’t need to be dug out by miners)

No more bridge. Take note that by doing so there is no way in or out for your migrants or enemies. On the bright side you can take your time to snipe out enemies one by one without having to loose any migrants
Defense level: moderate +

Note: you can’t design roads on scafolding. so if you are using this trick it is vise to have your hall just outside of your base by the bridge

Moats

Basic wall knowlage:
Mobs can’t climb 1 block higher than water.
Skeletons can’t swim.
