Clever tactics for the sir or madam to avoid becoming game

Overview

This is a simple tutorial on how to avoid being hunted and having your head shown in the death museum of robotic holocausts. it will show you how to fight, or fly from your enemies, and also show you the different types you will be facing.

Introduction

Hello, good sir or elegant madam! you are being hunted, but do not be upset! you can make the hunters the hunted, or just stop BEING hunted altogether! (with the advice from this guide, that is!)

if you read this guide completey, you may know a thing or two about fight or flight, as well as how to preform these actions. Good luck!

The hunter

Basic overview

The hunter is the most simple enemy you will be facing, from day one to the end. the carry a shotgun, which can be looted from their corpses, intact or broken (along with some ammo occasionally) as well as a chance at ‘a bag of mints’, ‘blackberries’, ‘oh dear, raw meat’, and bandages.

Tactics to fight

if they are alone and you have a hatchet, dodge both shots and run up with a hatchet while they reload. please note this will attract the attention of other bots in the area. it will take two hits with a hatchet to kill one

if there is multiple, and you have a hatchet, place a distraction and avoid them as best as possible

if there is multiple and you have a weapon (rifle, shotgun, blunderbuss, revolver, and a trap) and there is a tallgrass field nearby, or fence/hedge place the trap, place a distraction like an alarm clock or train (or buzz ‘a strange scanner’ if there is a fragment nearby.) have one run into the trap, dispatch his friend(s), and then remove him from the earth.

tactics to hide

fields work best, but if a boat is nearby and the hunters have found you, rush to it and leave the island (this also works with poachers)

if they have not found you, just hide where it shows you have the least visibility.

The squire

Basic overview

the squire is a rotund robot that carrys a revolver, and knows how to use it. if attacked, it will fire the revolver accuratley, in 4 to 6 round bursts, sometimes being able to kill the player if all the shots hit. squires will only attack if you attack them first, or if they catch you looting a house in the village they occupy.

tactics to fight them

if you have a hatchet, sprint around them in circles with it. it takes 8 hits with a hatchet to kill one

if you have a gun, just use a hatchet. seriously. it’s a waste of ammo

Tactics to avoid them

DONT FIGHT THEM

only loot the back doors of houses facing away from the street

Dogs

i couldn’t get a good picture

Overview

dogs will spawn with hunters. they can hear and see you better, and they will trap you, allowing the hunter to get a point blank shot on you.

tactics for fighting

dispatch the hunter(s). then they will run away.

dispatch the dog. one shot with any weapon (including the hatchet) will do the trick

tactics for avoiding

same as with hunters, but give them an even wider berth

Poachers

Overview

poachers spawn in wooded areas and lay traps for you. if you are caught in one of these, the poacher will know and walk to your location. then they will fire their blunderbuss at point blank range, often killing you instantly. they spawn in the late game. they have a distincive high pitched humming, and if you hit them, they will scream like a small child.

ALWAYS GET A PAIR OF PLYERS. they are infinite use and quickly remove and pick up traps. they take up a 1×1 space.

tactics for fighting

if you have a hatchet, make sure it sees you, then sprint so it misses it’s blunderbuss shot. you can then run up and hit it twice to kill it.

if you have a revolver, shotgun, or rifle, you can use the same technique

tactics for avoiding

avoid heavily wooded areas in the late game

The scarecrow

Basic overview

the scarecrow is a late game enemy that cannot actually hurt you. but, like the balloon, it will scream and alert all nearby robots. you will see it (or not) in large open fields. when you get too close to the front of it, it’s eyes will light up. it will also teleport behind or in front of you if you look away.

tactics for fighting

if no other robots are present, you can walk up with a hatchet and whack it until it dies

if robots are near or present, sneak behind it and whack it with a hatchet

if it annoys you, just shoot it 3 or 4 times with a shotgun

tactics for avoiding

if enough time has passed that scarecrows are on the map, avoid open fields

if you see a scarecrow and it’s eyes light up, walk backwards until the eyes turn off

Riders

Overview

riders are robots on robotic horses dressed in the clothing of a participant in a fox hunt (which was banned IRL in february 2005). the horses do not have legs, but instead have large jet thrusters. they will charge at you while sounding a horn, and trap you momentarily. this will prevent you from reloading a weapon, and will also do 25-50 damage

tactics for fighting
since they spawn very late game, a tactic is to fire a blunderbuss when they get close enough, killing the horse (or if you can aim well, the rider and horse) instantly. the horse will die if the rider is killed, and the rider will die if the horse is killed.

tactics for avoiding

the same as with a hunter. they will not be able to see you in tall grass, or through cover.

Weapons

There are a variety of weapons (actually 5), ranging from a useful hatchet to a stupidly loud and obliterating power-holding blunderbuss. there is also a rifle (very rare but powerful,) a revolver (common but weak,) and a shotgun (2nd most common, found on dead hunters)

the shotgun is carried by hunters. the revolver is carried by squires. the blunderbuss is carried by poachers. the rifle isn’t even carried by the landowner because of how overpowered it is (1 shot to kill a hunter, poacher,or dog.2 or 3 to kill a squire and rider). you will be the only person to carry a rifle. therefore you cannot scavenge ammo from destroyed robots. but you can with revolver ammo and shotgun ammo (from squires and hunters respectively. the blunderbuss can be scavenged from poachers, and has very rare ammo, but high obliterating power. the sound it makes makes a shotgun blast seem like a miniscule pop. a missed blast from a blunderbuss can jumpscare a player, as poacher give little warning they are about to fire.

The balloon

Overview
the balloon is like the scarecrow. it will fly slowly around the map, with a large searchlight. if you are caught in the searchlight, there will be an alarm, the light from the searchlight will turn red, and all robots in the area will run to your location

tactics for fighting

shooting the light will disable it for a short while

tactics for avoiding

remember if your visibility is high, the balloon with increase the width of it’s searchlight. stay well away from it. the searchlight can span much farther than you would probably expect

The bog creature

Basic overview

the bog creature, more often called the kraken, will appear randomly off the coast of the islands. it will attack you if you stay in the water too long, or go to far out in the water, dealing a lot of damage and often killing you. it is immortal as well.

tactics for avoiding

dont linger in the water for too long

The Landowner

Basic overview

the landowner is a terrifying giant that will have dogs that follow him around. though he is slow, he will never lose sight of you if he sees you. he is also immortal. and if he catches you, he will stun you with his cane, then deliver a killing blow with it. his dogs will immobilize you, so he will only have to deliver the killing blow

tactics for fighting

kill the robot dogs and run.

tactics for fleeing

Leave the island.
