Blades of Time Guide

Skin collection (Including X-Blades outfit) + Install guide (12 skins: SFW & NSFW) for Blades of Time

Skin collection (Including X-Blades outfit) + Install guide (12 skins: SFW & NSFW)

Overview

What is this? This is a collection of 12 skins, from tame (SFW) to extremely hot (NSFW), that can be used to change the look of Ayumi (main character). This collection also includes a few skins based on the look of the original outfit from Ayumi from the original X-Blades game that came before it.

Understanding the fundamentals:

• We will be using a tool called “TexMod” to apply the SKIN and launch the game at the same time.
• We will trick Steam into thinking it’s just launching the game so it will still track your playtime.

Blades of Time base game (without mods) already has, outside of the default one, 2 extra unlockable OUTFITS (Winter outfit & Skyguard outfit). How these SKINS work is that they replace ONE of these 3 in game OUTFITS.

So one thing to keep in mind is that if you applied a SKIN using this guide and it doesn’t work. There is a 99% probability that you need to change the in game OUTFIT to one of the other ones for the SKIN to appear/work.

So keep in mind:

OUTFITS: outfits that are already available in the game. However 2 of the 3 outfits are locked behind in game progession. Or you can mod a savefile. Read further ahead for more details.

SKINS: these overwrite the look of ONE of the existing OUTFITS. This is what we will be doing.

A ‘SKIN‘ WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DID NOT SELECT THE CORRECT IN GAME ‘OUTFIT‘!!!

SKIN ≠ OUTFIT

Yes, this is one of the SFW skins:

The NSFW skins are in the pack ; )

How to run the game through Steam with a SKIN:

1. Download ‘TexMod + Blades of Time Skin pack’ here: [link]
2. Open your steam Blades of Time install directory.
3. Rename ‘bladesoftime.exe’ to ‘bladesoftime_launch.exe’
4. Copy ‘Texmod.exe’ from the ‘TexMod + Skins pack’ (download from step 1) and place it in the Blades of Time install directory.
5. Rename the just placed ‘Texmod.exe’ to ‘bladesoftime.exe’
6. Start Blades of Time through Steam.
7. Texmod should now open up. Click ‘Target Application’ in Texmod and then select the ‘bladesoftime_launch.exe’ in your Steam Blades of Time install directory.
8. Click on the ‘folder icon’ in the middle of Texmod application.
9. Select one and only ONE of the .tpf files. There are many .tpf files, most of them have an image in the folder to show said specific skin before applying it.
10. Click ‘run’ to launch Blades of Time with said specific skin. Make sure you don’t have more than one skin selected at the same time!

PS: If you are experiencing issues with running TexMod in Windows 10, then try running it in compatibility mode: “Win XP SP3” and with admin rights.

Why doesn’t my applied SKIN show up in game?

You either didn’t follow the above steps properly or the OUTFIT you are currently using in game doesn’t work with the SKIN you applied.

Again: A ‘SKIN‘ WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DID NOT SELECT THE CORRECT IN GAME ‘OUTFIT‘!!!

Read further for more details on how to remedy this.

How do I change my OUTFIT in game so my applied SKIN works?

You just start the game and load your save. Then you open the diary menu and you can change your outfit at the same menu where you can change your weapons (last tab). On an xbox controller you press Y in said menu to cycle through the 3 outfits (Default outfit & Winter outfit & Skyguard outfit).

Just cycle them one by one and close the diary menu. One of them will trigger the applied skin. Most of the time it’s the third outfit in the game (Skyguard outfit). So try switching to that one and then unpause the game.

Don’t forget you need to have unlocked the other outfits (Winter outfit & Skyguard outfit) in the game for them to be available. You either unlock these two extra outfits by just playing the game or you can use my savefile that has all outfits unlocked.

1° Exception to the rule: The Michelle SKINS in this collection only work if you are playing as Michelle in the Dismal Swamp DLC. Or if you modded your savefile to play as Michelle in the main story, check my other guide if you want to do this.

2° Exception to the rule: There is also a more ‘NSFW’ SKIN for the “Schoolgirl” and “Summer” OUTFIT. These are OUTFITS just like the “Winter” and “Skyguard” OUTFITS. Except you can not unlock these ones in a normal way!!! If you want to use these alternative SKINS you need to mod your savefile first to activate one of these OUTFITS. Check my other guide if you want to do this.

The savefile with all outfits unlocked is in the folder ‘Complete Savefile’ and you need to copy all of the following files:

hotkey.blk
profile.blk
save00.blk
Settings.blk

To:
C:Program Files (x86)Steamuserdata[YourID]208670remote

Or if your save is not stored there, then the location will be:
C:Users[computer name]AppDataLocalBladesOfTime

1st WARNING: Doing this will of course overwrite your own savefile. If you don’t want this make a backup first so you can revert back later. Also again this savefile is not necessary if you already finished the game and unlocked the other 2 outfits (Winter outfit & Skyguard outfit).

2nd WARNING: Using this complete savefile will trigger some achievements unlocks when you start up the game. While this is not harmfull some people may want to unlock said achievements themselves. By using this savefile the following achievements will trigger if you haven’t unlocked them yet:
-Ready To Fight: Find all types of equipment.
-Curious: Find half the notes.
-Collector: Find all the notes.
-I’m Rich: Find all the chests in story mode on the Normal difficulty level.
-Treasure Hunter: Find all the chests in story mode on the Hard difficulty level.

REMINDER: If you think you did everything right and the skins still don’t work in game, then don’t forget to try running TexMod in compatibility mode: “Win XP SP3” and with admin rights.

Where did you get these skins?

I got them waaaaaaaay back when the game was still fresh and new and people where making skin mods for it. The sites where I got these are long forgotten or maybe even gone. I do not take credit for the skins themselves. The credits for the skins go to the original artists! I only take credit for this guide on how to use them with the steam version of the game.

What do I do if the difficulty of the game is too hard and I just want to enjoy these skins???

Well you could always use some ingame cheats.

1. Go to: C:Program Files (x86)Steamuserdata[YourID]208670remote
2. Open ‘settings.blk’ in notepad.
3. Add or change the following lines:

godmode:b=yes – Invincibility
devastation:b=yes – One-hit kill enemies

4. Save the changes you made and just launch the game through Steam.

Again make a backup copy of ‘settings.blk’ before you do this, just to be safe.
