Overview
The basic aim of this guide is to help new players locate, enable, and use the Developer console in HL2DM. The developer console playes a key role in both the normal day-to-day gameplay as well as in helping develop basic and advanced skills, by the use of ‘console commands’.
Enabling the developer console
The developer console is not enabled by default, so you have to enable it yourself.
Follow the following steps in-game while not in any server to enable the DC (developer console) :
(1) On the left part of your screen, you will notice a list of options. There, click on the ‘options’ option.
(2) Now, in the ‘keyboard’ section, you will find the ‘advanced…’ option. Click on it.
(3) After clicking on it, another window opens and there, you can clearly spot the ‘enable developer console’ option. Click on it and then click on ‘ok’.
(4) Now, click on ‘Apply’ to save your changes.
(5) As your changes are now saved, you can close the ‘options’ menu.
Locating the keyboard button that opens the DC
As the DC is enabled now, press the ‘~’ button (located near the ‘Esc’ button in normal modern keyboards) anytime or in any server to open it. You can now use console commands that can affect your gameplay.
