Nuclear Throne Guide

Nuclear Throne Builds for Nuclear Throne

Nuclear Throne Builds

Overview

The almighty list of builds for all the characters, purposes and derp-arounds!

How do I read this guide

So, each build is defined by several sections.

Character:
The character that the build works with.

Ultra:
The ultra that you need to take.

Must Have:
The mutations that make the build the build. As the name suggests, they are absolutely necessary to make the build work.

Should have:
The mutations that compliment the Must Have section, they help you do well and survive.

Meh have:
The neutral mutations, that might prove themselves useful.

Never have:
The mutations that break the build(or are absolutely useless), not all builds have them pointed out. Although it is worth keeping in mind, that they may sometimes change the given build into another build, and make it a completly different experience.

Weapons:
The weapons that work well with the build.

Disclaimer

(Thanks to ϟ Lord Lightning Chap ϟ for pointing it out)

Nuclear Throne isn’t the kind of game where you make builds set in stone. You have to work with what you’re given, so don’t be afraid of changing the builds slightly, or less slightly. You might discover a combo that suits you more. After all, synergies are what makes the throning cool.
Also, the Never Have section does NOT say “these mutations succ,” it says that the build as presented stops working with them – not that it stops working at all.

Iron Curtain

Character: Crystal
Ultra: Fortress
Must Have:
-Rhino Skin
Should Have:
-Rabbit Paw
-Back Muscle
-Plutonium Hunger
Meh Have:
-Lucky Shot
Never Have:
-Throne Butt
Weapons:
All will do.

Instead of filling the gaps that some build try to do, this build gives you even more redundancy in the shape of whooping 20HP and amazing tankiness.

Nuclear Reactor

Character: Horror
Ultra: Stalker
Must Have:
-Plutonium Hunger
-Impact Wrists
Should Have:
-Rabbit Paw
Meh Have:
All the mutations will do.
Never Have:
There are no mutations that break the build.
Good Weapons:
Super Plasma Cannon is a bit overkill, but it might also work
Bullet Weapons (or any weapons with low ammo usage) are good for finishing off the weaklings left over the carnage.
Something to spark the chain reaction, I found bolt weapons work well.

The non-Melting Melting build for Horror. Some bandit sneezes, and the entire level blows itself into smithereens.

Shovel Knight

(suggested by Friendly Neighborhood Cat)
Character: Steroids
Ultra: Any would be fine

Must Have:
Trigger Fingers
Long Arms
Should Have:
Gamma Guts
Rhino Skin
Boiling Veins
Hammerhead
Scarier Face
Impact Wrists
Meh Have:
Almost everything else.
Never Have:
Eagle Eyes
Any other weapon-type specific Mutation.

Must Have Weapons:
Shovel

Gun Nut

(suggested by Aradia Megidon’t, actually. )
(that’s the name, actually.)
Character: Robot
Ultra: Either, but Refined Taste is better for the build.
Crown: Guns

Must Have:
Throne Butt
Should have:
Second Stomach
Back Muscle
Heavy Heart
Rabbit Paw
Meh Have:
Scarier Face
Never Have:
Get anything, but definitely improve gun eating

Basically? The ground is nothing but weapons for you to consume. Have fun.

The Magnet Man

(suggested by Sparky)

Character: Eyes
Ultra: preferably projectile style

Must Have:
Throne Butt
Long Arms
Hammerhead
Meh Have
Stress
Trigger fingers
Whatever else
Never Have:
Eagle Eyes
Weapon:
(Ultra)Shovel
Any melee, really

Now you can stand in a safe spot and beat everything to death.
