Combat and Game Mechanics Guide

Controls:

  • [M] – Open / close full map
  • [N] – Open / close mini map in the bottom-right corner
  • [F] or [Left Mouse Button] – Attack with Melee Weapon
  • [E] pr [Right Mouse Button] – Dash Backward / Shield (if you have one)
  • [Space] – Dash forward
  • [Shift] – Run forward
  • [0] through [9] – Use the hotbar

Note: You can change the keys at any time through settings.

Equipping items:
Equipping items into the hotbar is done through clicking an item in the inventory and then clicking on the hotbar slot to set the item to. This way, you can select / use different items without accessing your inventory.
If you have unlocked active skills, they can be equipped in the same way from Skills menu.

The HUD
Here is a quick description of the game elements:

  • Health Bar – represents how much damage you can take before dying.
It can be healed using certain consumables, with a health ring, by being near a lit fire, or by activating a health totem.
  • Stamina Bar – represents how many physical actions you can do before getting too tired.
It is used when dashing, shielding against enemy attacks, and running. It refills on its own, but you can improve the recovery speed with a stamina ring.
    Stamina cannot regenerate while shielding.
  • Experience Bar – Empty at the beginning but after you will kill mobs you will see it will start to fill towards the right. After the bar will be filled your character will get a new level and earn a new skill point. The higher the level, the more experience is needed to get the next level.
  • Mana Crystals – Mana is used for casting skills, and each crystal represents one mana.
The maximum capacity can be increased using Mana Crystals dropped from defeating the core of Dark Zones.
  • Temperature – self-explanatory; your temperature outside of Sunglade and the Caves will be around 50. In Caves your temperature will decrease and you will start to freeze, while in Sunglade the temperature will rise and you will overheat; both conditions incur damage periodically until resolved.
To prevent freezing you can stay near a fire or wear a winter hat, while to prevent overheating, you can stay in a room with an air conditioner, stay near a glacier or have an ice crystal equipped.
Note that Fiery doesn’t suffer from freezing or overheating, and his temperature will always read 491.
  • Hunger: represents how much you can go without food. Besides Tony and Alice, every character has normal hunger rate. This can be filled by eating food items (that also includes grass). If the Hunger reaches 0, you will take periodic damage until you eat something. You are fully sated at 100 Hunger.
  • The clock – it shows you the time of the day. There are currently no seasons in the game.
There are 4 different day periods:

    • Morning – 6 AM to 12 PM
    • Day – 12 PM to 6 PM
    • Dusk – 6 PM to 12 AM
    • Night – 12 AM to 6 AM
  • Weather: In some zones you might have different weather events, however they are purely visual. Zone 1 has snowfall, Zone 3 has oil rain, and Zone 4 has torrential rain.

Combat:
You can damage enemies either through melee swings, skills, shooting bows or by using other items such as bombs.
By attacking an enemy’s back, you can deal bonus backstab damage.

Each active skill requires mana to be used, and has a certain cooldown time. You can level up skills up to level 5 – since you gain one skill point per level up, this means that you need level 30 to max out one full skill tree. You need to max out a skill before you can start leveling up the next one (the one below it).

Some skills feature “charging”, such as Arrow Strike, Ice Ball and Fireball. These skills have 2 charge levels: first level is portrayed by a circle forming under you while the second stage has a full circle with orbs rotating around it. While the second level takes more time to charge up to, the resulting attack will be stronger and have more range and speed.

How to efficiently fight against enemies:

  • Stunlockable enemies, such as Slimes and Nightmares:
These enemies are easy to deal with, since they will be interrupted by all of your attacks; keep hitting them and don’t give them the time to retaliate.
If you can, try to hit their backs to deal bonus backstab damage.
  • Partially stunlockable enemies, such as Chickens, Warrior Goblins and Wolves:
These enemies can be interrupted until they change color (usually red or yellow), which is when they become enraged. While enraged, they will be immune to interruption until they execute their next attack.
To beat them, attack them while they’re not enraged yet. If they subsequently become enraged, use your shield to block the attack, or a forward / backward dash to dodge it, then repeat the process until they die.
If you feel skilled enough, you can try the “attack dodge” method – it involves knowing the timing of the enemy’s attack and running away once it tries to hit you; however If you mess up the timing, you will get hit. Since enemies usually don’t attack quickly, using this method saves you stamina and lessens the chance that an attack would damage through your shield and armor.
Enemies that turn yellow will try to attack you via a lunge attack, so if you see them changing colors, run away to create some distance, and try to circle around them to lessen the chance of them hitting you with their lunge. If you want to, you can just shield their attacks, however you need to make sure the quality of your shield and armor will be up to the task.
  • Enemies that are immune to stunlocking, such as Grohs, Hogs, Boar Mom and Big Nightmares:
Since they can’t be stunlocked, the best way to kill them using melee is by shielding or dashing to nullify their attacks.
Shielding is usually better, since dashes have a big cooldown and, usually, non stunlockable enemies attack quite quickly. Using the shield method, you need to shield their hit, attack once or twice while they recover and repeat until the enemy is dead.
Another way to fight these is with abilities that forcefully stun them: the melee classes have skills such as Flash of Speed, Stomach power and Concussion Blow that can do that.

Character List

There are a total of 5 characters in the game, out of which the first four are available at the start. They differ between each other based on their skill sets and their traits:

Can’t use bows
Goes hungry faster
Fiery
Fire Mage (replaces Ice Mage)

Characters and abilities – Willie and Annie

Willie and Annie:

Willie and Annie have the exact same skill sets, so the following tables apply to both of them:

Swordsman skills:
Icon
Name and Tags
In-Game Description
Explanation
Elusive Rush
1 mana
The character leaps forward, slashing everything in their path.
You dash in the direction you’re facing, dealing high damage while being invulnerable for the duration.
Enemies can still interrupt you in the wind-up animation, so be careful.
Concussion Blow
1 mana
Momentarily throws the target into a state of shock.
You stun the enemy for a while, allowing you to interrupt an enemy’s attack and deal follow-up damage.
This move is slow, so you need to be careful not to get hit by enemies.
Wind Blade
2 mana
Throws the blades of wind cutting down your enemies.
You can fire up to three blades in the direction you’re facing by tapping repeatedly.
After all blades are thrown (or some time passes), the skill goes into cooldown, so make sure to fire all of your blades before they expire.
Wrath
[passive]
After three successful attacks, the next skill used will deal increased damage.
Landing three basic melee swings will greatly increase the damage of your next skill, so make sure to utilize this passive ability well.
For comparison, an Elusive Rush empowered by Wrath deals almost twice the base damage.
Sword Mastery
[passsive]
Increases damage with swords.
Self-explanatory – upgrade this to increase the damage of your melee swings.
Shield Mastery
[passive]
Increases your defense and reduces stamina costs.
Self-explanatory – upgrade this if you find yourself shielding a lot and going low on stamina due to it.

Archer skills:
Icon
Name and Tags
In-Game Description
Explanation
Arrow Strike
1 mana [Chargeable]
Stores energy in an arrow, increasing its speed and combat power.
Charging this skill allows you to fire an arrow with higher damage.
You should use this from a safe distance as to not get interrupted by enemies.
Trap
1 mana
Sets a trap, catching a target when triggered.
You lay a trap that pins an enemy in place, preventing movement. The trap’s pin time and damage increase with each skill point.
It is best used in combination with Arrow Strike, Five-way Shot, or other similar skills that can benefit from being used from safety.
Five-way Shot
2 mana
Launches 5 arrows at once.
You fire 5 arrows in a 160 degree semicircle in front of you; basically, it acts as an “arrow shotgun”. Landing all five arrows will deal massive damage, especially if you can attack from behind for bonus backstab damage.
Best used against stunned or non-aggroed enemies.
Owl Taming
[passive]
Tames a feathered helper with sharp claws.
The owl flies to enemies from time to time, clawing at them three times. Its damage gets noticeable as you level this skill up.
Bow Mastery
[passive]
Increases damage with bows.
Self-explanatory – upgrade this passive if you find yourself using bows often.
Arrow Mastery
[passive]
Adds a chance of a lucky shot, which does not spend arrows.
Self-explanatory – adds a chance that some shots will not consume arrows.

Ice Mage skills:
Icon
Name and Tags
In-Game Description
Explanation
Ice Ball
1 mana [Chargeable]
Stores energy to create an ice ball that inflicts damage and reduces enemies’ movement speed.
The ice ball pierces through enemies and slows them, allowing you to control and damage enemies from a safe distance.
Ice Spikes
2 mana
Makes ice spikes sprout out in a line to inflict damage, slowing enemies’ movement speed.
You summon three ice spikes in front of you that can deal damage and slow down enemies individually. If all three hit an enemy, you can deal up to 3x spike damage, and if all hits are backstabs (rarely happens), you can hit for 4.5x spike damage. Usually, with good placement, you will do 2 normal hits and a single backstab.
Ice Barrier
4 mana
Surrounds the user in a barrier made of ice shards that inflict damage upon contact with an enemy.
You summon 6 ice shards that can each damage and slow an enemy.
Depending on how you place yourself, you can backstab an enemy with all 6 of them for massive damage.
Ice Elemental
3 mana
Creates an elemental that attacks nearby enemies.
Summons a plant-like entity that damages enemies close to it for medium damage.
It’s not very useful due to being both weak and having low range, so think well before taking this skill.
Magic Mastery
[passive]
Increases the damage of ice magic attacks.
Self-explanatory – upgrade this passive if you use magic attacks often.
Mana Regeneration
[passive]
Increases mana crystals regeneration rate.
Self-explanatory – upgrade this passive if you use skills often (especially if you find yourself running out of mana too soon).

Characters and abilities – Alice and Tony

Alice

Alice’s skill tree differs from Willie and Annie’s by swapping the Swordsman skills with Rogue-themed ones:

Rogue skills:
Icon
Name and Tags
In-Game Description
Explanation
Backstab
1 mana
Moves behind the enemy’s back and strikes a powerful blow.
Alice blinks behind an enemy and does a powerful attack that benefits from bonus backstab damage.
The skill can only target agrroed enemies that are close to you; if it finds no targets it will fail, wasting the mana and cooldown.
Flash of Speed
1 mana
The character instantly moves backwards, leaving an illusion that distracts enemies.
Alice creates a dummy and dashes backwards, forcing enemies to target the dummy. If they attack the copy, it will explode, damaging and stunning the enemy similar to Archers’ Trap.
This move is best used to incapacitate the enemy, rather than attack it directly.
Any enemy that was not targeting Alice before deploying the dummy will not be distracted by it; that can prove dangerous in places like Dark Zones.
Knife Throwing
2 mana
Throws knives that can damage enemies at a distance.
Similarly to Wind Blade, you can throw up to three knives with one skill cast.
Flash of Speed pairs well with this by creating the distance you need to use this skill safely.
Merciless Whirlwind
2 mana
A series of strikes that deal high damage.
One of the best skills in the entire game both in terms of utility and power.
It consists of Alice disappearing and creating a “blade tornado”; the best analogy is Juggernaut’s Bladefury from Dota 2.
Since the enemies are still aggroed, they will stand in the circle and take repeated damage, while being unable to hurt you due to the invulnerability provided by the skill.
Sword Mastery
[passsive]
Increases damage with swords.
Self-explanatory – level up this passive to increase the damage of melee slashes.
Shield Mastery
[passive]
Increases your defense and reduces stamina costs.
Self-explanatory – level up this passive if you find yourself shielding often.
Tony

Tony’s Chef skill tree replaces the Archer skill tree.
Unlike the other characters, Tony’s moves differ greatly from the “default” Archer tree. As a Chef, Tony’s can cook food in his Cauldron that gives attack increasing buffs.
One thing to keep in mind is that Tony goes hungry much faster than the other characters.

Chef skills:
Icon
Name and Tags
In-Game Description
Explanation
Stomach Power
1 mana
Creates a shockwave by slamming the character’s stomach against the ground. Enemies hit by the shockwave will be momentarily stunned.
Tony slams the ground with his belly, stunning and damaging enemies in a small area around him.
While Tony is invincible during the skill, you can still be interrupted by enemies during the wind up animation.
Cauldron
1 mana
Places a cauldron to make top Chef dishes.
Tony places his own special Cauldron in which he can cook food that grants attack buffs when consumed; the Attack granted is equal to the level of the skill.
Due to a problem in the enemy AI, the Cauldron can be used to block enemies, since they do not account for the Cauldron’s collision box. With skills like Stomach Power and Living Cauldron you can kill the enemy from a safe position.
Rage of the Bull
2 mana
Increases Tony’s attack speed and attack power
Tony turns red from anger and gets a massive increase in attack speed and power; it is the main aspect of the Rush in the Stun, Rush, Kill combo.
The main strategy with this skill is to use Stomach Power to stun the enemy, activate Rage of the Bull and attack the enemy in rapid succession with the sword until it is defeated or the stun wears off.
Living Cauldron
[passive]
Summons a cauldron to attack nearby foes.
Living cauldron will spew out 3 pieces of food that will target aggroed enemy and deal damage. Although individual food does little damage, over the long duration of the cauldron it can do massive total amount. Living Cauldron will only target one single enemy.
This move should be used more of a support move while you are busy fighting/hiding behind the cauldron to heal, since although over longer period of time it can do a lot of damage it does not even come close to the potential of the stun, rush, kill combo.
Diet
[passive]
Reduces Tony’s hunger.
This passive decreases Tony’s crazy hunger issues.
Since Tony as a character has a greatly increased hunger rate (so much so that you can be starving while being a few minutes into the game), you should upgrade this skill as quickly as possible to make your life easier.
It is possible that with Dieting maxed out, Tony has a slower hunger rate than other characters.
Unique Dishes
[passive]
Increases buff time of chef Tony’s dishes by one minute per skill level.
This ability will make the attack buffs from Tony’s special cooking last longer.

Characters and abilities – Fiery (Unlockable)

This section is about the secret unlockable character. If you don’t want to get spoiled, you should skip this.

Fiery

Fiery is diametrically opposed to the theme of the game and the other characters: colour, burning hair, red heart, having a temperature of 491 instead of 50, etc.
Due to his temperature, he doesn’t suffer from freezing in Caves or from overheating in Sunglade. Instead of ice magic, he utilizes fire attacks that burn the enemy for 5 damage per second for 4-5 seconds. This can be useful, as it can finish off enemies brought to low health from your spells.

Fire-Mage skills:
Icon
Name and Tags
In-Game Description
Explanation
Fireball
1 mana [chargeable]
Stores energy to throw fireball
This skill is similar to Ice Ball, except the attack inflicts a burn on the enemy.
Flame Ground
2 mana
Burns your feet creating a path of flame.
You create a small circle of fire around yourself that damages enemies; you also create small burning footprints every two seconds that damage the enemies standing on them,
This ability is useful if followed by a horde of mobs, since you can lure them into the fire.
Breathe Fire
4 mana
Unleashes a breath of four fireballs.
The “fire shotgun” is basically same as “arrow shotgun”, but with fireballs and costing 4 mana. It’s a powerful spell, however you may want to use it from a safe position or against stunned enemies as to not get hit by them.
Fire Elemental
3 mana
Creates an elemental that attacks nearby enemies
A better version of the ice elemental that can move with you. If an enemy is targeting you, the elemental will come and attack it from time to time.
It is mainly used as a support or for dealing with low level enemies like nightmares in Dark Zones.
Magic Mastery
[passive]
Increases damage of fire magic based attacks.
Self-explanatory – level up this skill for more damage with fire magic.
Mana Regeneration
[passive]
Increases mana crystals regeneration rate.
Self-explanatory – level up this skill if you use spells often.

Survival Guide

Here I would discuss about the survival part – not the story and quest ones.

The first few days

After you chose your character, you will see a brief cutscene about the nightmare invasion of the village. Once you begin the game, you will probably want to hurry and get gear to protect yourself with.

Twigs
Twigs
Twigs
Grass
Grass
Grass
Trees
Trees
Trees
Sweedee
Rocks
Flint
Obelisks
Boar Caves
Snow Mounds
Ice Roses
Marshmallows
Ice Cream Ball Plants

If you will look around you will see twigs, grass, sweedee’s which during certain times have pinkish-purple stuff on the leaves – they are seeds, it is recommended that you pick up the ones with seeds so you would be able to replant them later on near your base, Trees, Rocks and Flint. All of these resources are critical for one’s survival. You might also encounter: obelisks black rocks that can be hit 5 times to receive a buff: Speed – increases movement speed, Fairy – attacks enemies that are targeting you, heal – heals you for ~40 health. And boar caves , these spawn boars every morning that can be killed for wool – another important resources. There are also Snow mounds that when shoveled give snow. Ice roses give you 1 instant mana if consumed also used to craft potions later on. Marshmallow bushes give marshmallow that gives 10 hp and are also used for crafting potions later on. Finally, there is the ice cream ball plants, they give you an ice cream ball which recovers 20 hp and can be used on a fallen friends.

First morning – gather Flint, grass, and twigs and perhaps sweedee’s using The pickup button [E]. Grass will be used at first for food because it is everywhere and easy to access. If enough twigs are acquired It is advised to create a stick – this is probably the 1st weapon of everyone, easy to craft and good enough tool to kill a few slimes for 1st level, plus it is also a part of the recipe for the Wooden Sword. Hold shift for running, and press space for dashing.

Survival Guide – Continued

After you killed your first slime you might see a recipe it would contain the way to create a certain item, to learn the recipe you need to right click on it in your inventory. Try to unlock as many recipe’s as possible (you should open them when you get them because if you kill 2 enemies one after another and they both drop a recipe you have a chance for both of them to be the same recipe because you did not activate the first one before you killed the 2nd mob).

First days you should try to kill mobs, get – sticks, grass, flint but not as a main priority, because first 2 days you should just explore, eat grass to replenish your hunger and try to find a place close to a boar cave (if more are present close to each other they take priority) but best thing would be if there is an obelisk with the speed buff and at least 1 boar cave close to it.

As you see here, I have my house right in between the obelisk and the boar cave. Why speed buff obelisk and not attacking fairy or healing, is because in long run the attacking fairy will do little damage to be noticeable, and the health will be 2 small and health potions can be used for that and they are quite cheap after the caves are completed. But speed can only be acquired through self-made ice cream and eskimos. Eskimos are quite rare and should be saved for important events like bosses. The self-made ice cream requires to purchase a lot of ingredients from an npc on top of a separate crafting station and the ice cream balls.

After you decided on your future placement, create an axe and chop down some trees or destroy some of the wood stacks in the village to get some wood to start for at least 1 floor and workbench as well as chest for the resources that you got while looking for a good placement. I would recommend a 5×5/4×4 house however you can do it however way you want, the game does not limit you in anyway besides not being able to build near settlements and other story important buildings.

You should target large trees, since they drop saplings needed to replant the tree (or as easy fuel for fire) and 3 wood where younger, smaller trees just drop wood.

After you made a house you might want to create other crafting stations, you could get the recipes defeating mobs however some are harder than other and for beginners its recommended to aim for slimes, nightmares, chickens and hogs at the beginning. The main crafting stations at the beginning are the cauldron, the fireplace, the alchemy table, the loom and it is recommended for you to create a bed so in case that you die you do not respawn in the village but in your bed at home. The Cauldron is used to create food, the fireplace is used to burn wood and other wood like items for fire which recovers HP quickly as well as to get dry green herbs from their normal counterpart, the alchemy table is used for creating potions, the loom is used to create hats as well as cloth. The Workbench is pretty much the most useful crafting station.

A useful thing to create is the garden bed , it doubles the speed at which plants grow on it. To get seeds to plant you need to craft a shovel and dig up grass, twigs, ice roses, (seeds from sweedes do not need digging up), marshmallow trees, ice cream ball plants and other later gear stuff like mana flowers and lollipop bushes. To plant them, just like with tree saplings you need to just press right mouse button in inventory, scroll using the wheel to the form preferred if existing, and plant them using left mouse button.

You can also try to create swords, armor, bows and shields from different resources based on the recipes you get. All Zone 1 enemies drop wood tier stuff, Zone 2 drop stone tier, Zone 3 drop iron tier, Zone 4 drop Tantalum tier, Zone 5 drop Saranite tier and lastly Zone 6 drop Goetium tier. All these increase your survivability if used correctly.

Overall layout of the map

Here is the entire map of Feel The Snow, Although the general shape of the map is the same, most details are random, especially when it comes to stuff like the trees, etc.

Story and Plot progression: Part 1: Snowy Lands

This part will contain massive spoilers to the whole story, so be prepared. The story will be separated into different parts: Snowy Lands, The Frozen Cave, The Iron Desert, Tropical Wilderness and Deadman’s Wonderland. Snowy lands will be talking about quests in Zones 1 & 2, Frozen Cave talks about Zone 3, Iron Desert about Zone 4, Tropical Wilderness talks about Zone 5 and finally Deadman’s Wonderland talks about Zone 6. I assume that you already read the survival guide or are not in need for survival tips. I will also talk about the guide to defeat the bosses in their own section below, not in the Story part.

Naked and Afraid

After you spawn you can talk to Old Man then go to his house, where he tells you about the invasion of nightmares on the village and that the other villagers got kidnapped. Here is where you probably need to prepare for the night with a stick or sword and perhaps start building your own house. During the night try to kill as many nightmares as possible because they might drop the Note which is essential for you to advance in the plot.

Detective Snowdin

Read the note and find out that the witch is hiding, to do that you need to ask the old man where she is located. He will tell you that you should stay away from her but you got a clue and you cannot reject it. Grandpa seeing that you are very persistent asks you to go get 10 wood because he is freezing, and while you are away he will make a map for you. After bringing some firewood the old man will tell you that the witch is located near the north west coast, and so the travelling begins.

Underpaid Errand Boy

The witch tells you that she will not help you until you bring her an ancient scroll near the giant obelisk located in the desert- south from the village. There you will be challenged with fighting 8 living teleport stones, 2 at a time. After you won and got the scroll from the obelisk you need to retrieve it to the witch. She then asks you to go near shores and find one of these Groh’s nests and get an egg.
Best way to get their egg is if you have some kind of stunning ability over wise, kite them then quickly dash and run to get an egg, if you are Stone tier however you have a higher chance of killing them, but beware that all 3 of them will get angry if you come too close. Bring the egg back to the witch to get a reward, or at least you hope so, just to find out that she used you for her nightmare repel magic around her house. She then proceeds to tell you that she doesn’t know where the villagers are and that you need to look for a giant slime that you can track using the large traces it leaves behind.

A Sticky Situation

Now you must look for slime trails that look like this , come close to them and the character will tell you in what direction to go to find them, after some trail following your character will say “The slime must be nearby!“

This would mean that in the direction of the next slime trace, you will find the Great Slime – For the guide on how to fight him Look in the Bosses Guide section. After you killed the big slime, he will drop a blue heart, pick it up and that would cause a villager to spawn in the village- his name is Joe and he is the candy shop keeper.

Snowman’s bizarre adventure: Desert Crusaders

Go and talk to Joe (choose the talk function), and he will ask you to look and see what happened to his caravan near the desert from the west. It is located to the west of the village. There you will see a warrior that you saw before- near the entrance of the village from West, on the bridge, (remember him he will be important later on) His name is Avguard, he came a bit late to defend the caravan and the goblins took the bags away. This is why you must go to the goblin camp and restore the goods. Follow the map and go towards the quest point, there you will see a wooden wall with goblin tents and goblins inside, in the center are the goods you need to retrieve. For this mission there are 2 ways to do it: The Sonic way and The Assassin way. The sonic way involves getting the bags and running away, not engaging in combat at all, after some time the goblins will stop following you, however if you get trapped between many goblins simultaneously – you will die. The Assassin way involves killing of goblins from the camp 1 by 1 to eliminate danger and after enough are dead – take the goods and retreat. A note for the Assassin way is that if you go too far away from the camp all the mobs will respawn so if you want to kill them of stay very close to the actual camp. After you got the bags just go back to Joe and he will give you new information on where to find the other villagers.

Story and Plot progression: Part 2: The Frozen Cave

The hairy gnome

Joe tells you that to find the other villagers you need to go talk to Todolf- a gnome with a red beard in the caves (Zone 3), he also tells you to make yourself a warm hat because for simple snowmen that place is too cold, unless you play as Fiery . When you get there Todolf asks you to bring him 6 wools, he mentions wool from the wolves outside of the caves however wool gotten from any enemy is good enough for him, so you are better off giving him wool from the boars.

Super Mario Bros

Todolf tells you about a Shaman that could help you get to Knigness- the ice queen. She knows where is one of the souls, however she got corrupted by darkness and locked herself, which is why you need to shaman to get you there. When you find the crazy shaman he will ask you to give him 10 mushroom caps gotten from killing these mushrooms that like to play whack a mole.

Bamboozled

When you bring him the caps, the shaman creates a circle and you need to step in there to get teleported to Knigness. OH NO, Avguard betrayed you and goes to fight Knigness himself, he also trapped you and you need to get out from the cage using the power of Quick Time Events, however they move quite slowly. After you escape from the cage you need to quickly jump into the portal and prepare yourself for a boss fight.

Castle Crashers

She is beyond repair, there is no going back, Avguard died and you are next on her list. FOR THE HORDE!!! For a detailed guide on Knigness look in the Boss Guide section. After a fight with Knigness, rescue the other soul, and go and talk to him. His name is Roland and he is the weapon dealer (however in the game he doesn’t sell weapons but he can repair them) talk to him to get a quest to get a sample of Tantalum ore.

Story and Plot progression: Part 3: The Iron Desert

Bomberman

To get Tantalum ore you firstly need to buy bombs from Roland, then you need to travel towards the Iron Ville desert (Zone 4), there you will encounter a lot of Tantalum crystals which can be exploded using bombs to get the ore. After getting tantalum ore, you need to kill an oil slime for an oily liquid. Go to the Iron Ville and put the oil into the top compartment and tantalum ore in the bottom compartment, to send it to Roland. After that Roland will sell Tantalum scabbards used for crafting tantalum swords.

Stout Shako For 2 Refined

If you will talk to the robot that is located near the south east part of iron ville, he will ask you to go to the markans camp to retrieve the stolen iron. Follow the quest sign and get there. You can use the Assassin and the Sonic way however beware that after you pick up the items all the markans in the camp will instantly target you and because of their running speed they can easily keep up with you. After you got the scrap metal get back to the village and talk to the same robot, and he will tell you about the main camp of the markans. Go there and in the center there will be a skull sign, there you will encounter a trap and markans will spawn infinitely. It is recommended just to die so you don’t waste time. There you will encounter the Elder Markan – he will tell you that he will stop attacking you and the villagers if you will destroy the ancient machine. He also releases another villager – Merchant (apparently Owlet forgot to give him a name) he is just used for getting pets and getting ingredients for waffles, each pet has a different task and ability, but so far Merchant has no impact on the story of the game.

GUN-DH4M

Buy from the robot merchant in Iron Ville the Gas Mask and go into the Factory, put the mask on due to the poisonous gas, and switch all the levers: on 1st layer they are on edges, 2nd layer is on the midway path and finally there is the Ancient Machine. The guide to destroy the machine is in the Boss Guide segment. It doesn’t matter if you kill it or spare it, the result is that you get transported by some nightmare creatures to Sunglade.

Story and Plot progression: Part 4: Tropical Wilderness

Bananza

When you arrive in sunglade you will meet Ashley, a living log. She will invite you to her house to cool inside. You can also cool down in the small ice pockets that are located in sunglade, however best thing to have is an ice necklace and refuel it sometimes, this will be the most useful later on in the boss fight to come. Talk to Ashley, she went a bit south from her house. She will ask you to bring 10 carrots and some bananas, the carrots are everywhere in sunglade and the bananas are located in a small village of the locals (and you must pick them up, don’t be an idiot like me that was killing the banana summoning shamans infinitely to realize that I was doing the wrong thing.) When getting the bananas- 3 watermelon suicide bombers will spawn, so try to make them explode and then quickly run away to dodge because the damage is almost unblockable. If you have 10 carrots and got the bananas you can get back to the place where Ashley was, and you will find a note that says that you were “slow” and to find her go into her house and talk to her and grandma and she will tell you that you need to go to the Island of the Damned, however to get there you need to ask the Captain to get you there.

Cirno ^3

Go to the beach and at the north west part of sunglade you will see him near his ship. He will tell you that the ship will require a cooling device, which is why you need to go to a big glacier south west from the Village. There you will encounter an old friend of yours (remember the mushroom crazy shaman that wanted to help you with Knigness) well he is now the leader of the local aborigines and he uses the ice cube to chill himself, and does not really like the idea of you taking the cube and sends his minions to attack you. After you kill the minions you tell him that he can simply take the ice from the other ice pockets located throughout the island (surprisingly he didn’t think of that straightaway) and he then allows you to take the cube, now it’s time for you to run to the captain again.

Deforestation

The ship also requires power to move on and unfortunately this isn’t thousand sunny that runs on cola so you need to get the energy cube located in Goldwine park that is located quite close to the village (you probably noticed it having a lot of trees and vines around it). Surprise, surprise the entry is blocked by some weed, and you don’t have a lawn mower around you so you need to rely on outside help, go ask Ashley for help. After you talked to her go towards the entry and you will see Ashley using her grass magic to make the vines disappear. Prepare yourself for a tough fight. You thought it was a simple bridge, BUT IT WAS ME NAMELESS MAIDEN. This is a very difficult fight that I had trouble with at first. I recommend reading the guide for this boss, found beneath the story segment.

Let’s sail for One Piece

After you defeated the random weed in your path take the cube that was blocked off by her body. (She also drops an Ancient key; this is used to unlock a character, located near the Ancient Machine). Go again to the captain and deliver the energy cube to him, and right before you sail Ashley comes and gives you an amulet to protect you. Here is where the game becomes a bit hard for range based players because you now need to fight 3 waves of enemies 1: 2 crabs; 2: 4 crabs; 3: 3 skeletons, the skeletons especially are very dangerous because they are fast, you fight on a small ship and it can be very hard to actually attack the skeletons because there are 3 of them at the same time. It is recommended to use skills that have deal damage quickly and those that can stun/trap the enemies.

Story and Plot progression: Part 5: Deadman’s Wonderland

Party crasher

Once you arrive on the island, if you walk around a bit you can see Death, if you talk to him he will tell you that you need to bring Johnathan here to talk with death, he is located in the park east from where Death is located. If you go through the entrance at the south, you will find the bodyguard, to go past him you need to distract him, like saying that he has a crow on his head, he will take the joke nicely and let you go in, if you go north west from there, you might find the disco, you can talk to many people there but they won’t tell you much since they are too much into the groove of the song (awesome song btw), but you need to find out where Jonathan is, so you need to break the speakers , and after being called a jerk for crashing the party they tell you that Jonathan is east from there, in the park chilling with his girlfriend.

Rohan Ice Cream

You ask Jonathan to go to help death out but Lily – his girlfriend, doesn’t want to let Jonathan go just like that so she makes you go buy spider ice cream that is a bit north from their spot, you will find the ice cream vendor however it requires 10 nails that you can get from killing zombies, both the female and the male zombies work. After you buy the ice cream and give it to Lily she lets Jonathan go. Return to death after that.

Big smoke and FoodWagon

Once you return to death you tell him your goal is to get to the abyss, he tells you that someone has been there before a long time ago, however Death interrupts by talking that people here begin to hate him because of newcomers that spread rumors. He will help you go to the abyss if you will help him solve some of the situation, he sends you to ask Big Sam why he betrayed Death. He is located north of where Death is. You go there and Big Sam is angry because he is hungry because Death supposedly closed the railway system that brought him food. You explain to Big Sam that Death didn’t introduce any of these laws and that he was lied to. He says that if you open the railway system again, Death will get Big Sam’s support. You are sent to deal with this, by walking near the rails you will start noticing nightmares. Defeat them all (I suggest killing them in order, because if you try to just kill the last ones they will respawn quickly after, so start from closest to Big Sam to the furthest). Once you come back, Big Sam will tell you that the base of these newcomers is in the ruins east.

Prepare for trouble, Make it double

You go to the ruins just to see that Lily was there, she says that Jonathan told her to come there and also talks about having a feeling of being watched in the graveyard. Jonathan realizes it’s a trap, the ruins are blocked off and you are made to fight against 4 Hollow Knights, their AI is similar to snails from the caves so it should be not too difficult to win. After you kill them all, you are sent to talk with Death while Jonathan takes Lily home safely. You tell Death about Big Sam’s support. He tells you that it’s his turn to help you to go to abyss, however only spirits and the dead can go there, and that you need a much stronger weapon than that to win so he tells you to go to the sacred reservoir to dip your weapon in (you still must do this even if you don’t use weapons). Once you get there however, we got to see these “newcomers” it’s the same nightmare duo that teleported you after defeating the ancient machine. They try to force Ashley into using a special bottle that will remove the reservoir, you stop her from doing that, the 2 of them try to teleport you away however due to the amulet that Ashley gave you, they fail to send you away. They try to kill Ashley but Jonathan comes to save her by holding the rope, and so you are forced to fight the Nightmare Duo. I made a guide on how to fight them as well. After defeating them you hear Ashley talk about how they wanted to kill her grandma if she did not do what they wanted, and that she is very happy to see you. You dip your sword and return to Death.

The End

Death tells you that it’s a one-way trip, and mentions again that a long time ago he also sent someone like this, you then see how your white snowy hands become black, and you are sent to the abyss. There you can see the Nightmare King (it’s encouraged to look up the guide since the boss is quite difficult although it’s nothing that you can’t accomplish). After a glorious victory you wake up in your house back in Snowville, confused about what just happened since you are back to being alive and the town is back to normal. You go to talk with Joe in the candy shop and he tells you that you have been asleep for a while, you ask about grandpa, but Joe tells you that grandpa has been dead for 40 years. You run to check up on him, his house ruined and him standing there. You talk with him and he says that he was the one that was sent before to the abyss, however he lost but he did manage to weaken the nightmares. Thanks to your help of completely destroying the source of nightmares he can finally rest in peace and the credits roll.

FIN

Boss Guide: Great Slime

He is the easiest out of all the bosses, it is generally recommended to have 1st skill maxed out and have wooden tier armor, however with stone armor you will decimate him. Range based attacks for this fight are especially good because they can just snipe him from a far while he tries to jump his way to you.

Stage 1: Big Blue Blob

In this form he will just try to jump on you and occasionally summon 4 slimes. The jumps can be dodged by running speed. After being hit enough, he will become enraged and turn pinkish, this is a sign that he goes into his 2nd form.

Stage 2: Slime Fury

In this state he can outrun the player, so dash or speed buffs can be used, he will be faster, stronger, he will also spawn slimes much quicker thus making it useless to kill them. It is genuinely advised to fight from range – but if you need to go melee when he jumps, dash to dodge, get back, attack a bit, then dash again, repeat. It usually is not that hard to beat this boss especially with stone tier items.

Boss Guide: Knigness

Knigness unlike Great Slime does not have multiple forms, however she has way more attack patterns. It is highly recommended to have Iron Tier gear. The temperature there is the same as throughout the whole Cave so keep yourself warm with a hat if you need to. It is also highly advisable to have some Health Potions (not the small ones), a speed buff and at least 2nd skill maxed out.

Icicle projectiles

Knigness summons fast ice projectiles from her hand that move towards the direction she is facing.
This is the move that will make the biggest problems to a melee because when she summons them they all come from the same place so in case the player blocks they will most probably need to block 3-4 shots because they won’t be able to spread out in that small distance. Just try to get the timing right and back off a little when she will attack.

Frosty Vacuum

Knigness attracts the player towards her in the center to then create a large area of effect high damaging ice attack. Here is where the Speed buff comes in the handiest because with it you can run out of the pulling. So if you do have a speed buff, attack her while it is pulling you towards her because she can’t attack for a while and won’t move basically making her completely defenseless against your attacks. If you do not have a speed buff or you do have it, but you are too late to simply run away and close to getting hit, DASH. So far that is the only way to get away from her attack, a combination of dashing and running, there are also skills that do the same thing – Elusive Rush, Flash of Speed.

Crystal shield

Knigness summons 3 crystals, in a separate color order. The color order is always random. The order in which they appear is the way that you need to break the crystals in. It is basically a game of Simon says where you just have 3 buttons and you just play the 1st round. Be very careful about the order that they appear in, to see the order you can either look at the queen or the crystals themselves coming from underground. You will be punished very hard if you break the wrong crystal with an instant attack that can take out ½ or even more of your hp. To break them you must use a melee weapon, but they just have 1 hp so you might as well use a stick. Knigness will be invulnerable from any damage as long as the crystals are up so you must destroy them as quickly as possible.

Ice minions

Knigness summons 4 ice summons that are similar to the teleportation stone mob in terms of AI. They just charge at you and have about 60 hp. They are quite easy to kill and don’t do a lot of damage however they will most probably go in the way of your fight so try to kill them quickly.

Boss Guide: The Ancient Machine

The ancient machine is made of 3 sections the left and the right compartment as well as the head in the center. It is a very interesting boss because it has a move that allows it to heal itself so prepare yourself for a bit longer than usual fight, however with the right execution you can stop it from healing. The fight is enclosed in a pretty small space so a speed buff is not really effective in this case however it depends on preference. It is advisable to use Tantalum Tier and if you use any items for damage (sword or bow) it is possible that you might want to bring another copy or a robot pet preferably lvl 2, due to its ability to repair your items, since during my many playthroughs I found sometimes that my weapon did not have enough durability and I was left with nothing but a stick to fight which is not something one would like when the boss only has 10% of health left and suddenly all your damage potential is lost. Archers should also bring more than usual amount of arrows, just in case they will run out of them. Health potions are highly advised as always and at least a maxed out 3rd skill, however at least lvl 1 4th skill can greatly help in some cases. The player has to destroy the left and right compartments to win.

Big Blue Laser

The machine summons a laser from its mouth. It is very long and attacks at an insane rate so dodging is highly not advisable to do. Most of the times if you get trapped in one it is a game over. So try to avoid going through center at all cost unless it’s the slime wave. Best thing to do if you see blue light coming from its mouth while you are in the center is dash to the side.

Pink Laser Barrage

The machine shoots a lot of lasers from one of its compartments. It will light up a small red bar before the attacking “charging up” as you may say, it will also have an increasing frequency sound to it. It will start shooting pink lasers from its small holes at the bottom. All the lasers are not shot simultaneously they have a small delay between them so if you want to dodge them using dash or another ability that grants you invincibility for a brief time, try to time it very carefully. At first I used to always dash too early and get hit. Shielding is advisable because it removes the risk of not timing it right. However, you need to have enough stamina because the gap between the lasers is so small that you usually end up blocking 2 to 3 lasers.

Rocket Launcher

From one of the compartments rockets will start falling onto the player from above. It is easy to see where the rockets will come because there is a red circle underneath the player. And if the player moves and the circle remains on the same spot, it will fall there, so don’t be afraid of constantly running because they are aiming at you for a relatively small amount of time. The rockets are also really slow so especially for range characters – while you charge your shots just slowly move from side to side to evade the rockets. The rockets on impact create a small AoE which is larger than just the red circle that shows the trajectory so try to move around 2 players’ in width away from the red spot. This attack in general is the easiest to dodge. If you think that you have the timing right you can stand on the same spot until one of the rockets is actually visible on the screen to then proceed to move to another place, this would cause 2 or even 3 rockets to bombard the same place aka allowing you more time to attack the Machine from another position.

Note on the left and right compartments – sometimes you might see that the side compartments just close and you deal 0 damage, so there is no point in attacking, it is not some kind of shield that you need to break, it is just like a mini stage to refresh the AI probably for another attack, so just wait patiently till you see the shutters open again.

Slime heal

This is the reason that makes the fight very hard for people that do not have enough dps/ trapping or stunning ability. It involves in the machine summoning 2 oil slimes, 1 from left and 1 from right, their only target is to run towards their respective compartments and will not attack you in any way. The reason for them heading forward is because when they are close to the compartment and are given ~ 0.5 seconds without getting hit or interrupted it will try to jump into it healing the boss by ¼ or in other words ½ of each compartments hp. To deal with this it highly depends on the skills of your character. If your character has any stunning ability I find the best way to deal with this is to stun 1 of them, dash to the 2nd one kill it while the other one is stunned, go back to the one that was stunned and finish him off. You also should try to attack the slimes from the back at all times due to increased damage. However, if your character does not have any good stunning ability you need to try to kill 1 of them as fast as possible run and dash to the other one before it gets to the compartment and melee it from there. This is because oil slimes just like regular slimes are stun lockable so even if you have a simple stick you can still kill it because as long as you keep attacking it will not jump inside. However, if you believe that you have enough dps to kill it very quickly before it jumps you can try to kill it using any projectiles or whatever skill you have. For stunning players should use: Concussive Blow, Trap, Belly power. Moves to quickly finish of the other slime is: 3x Wind Blade in a rapid succession, Five-way shot from close quarters, Ice Spikes perhaps in pair with Ice Barrier, Breathe Fire, Knife Throwing, Rage of the Bull for its 4x dps. Merciless Whirlwind can also be used but only on the last slime because if used on the 1st slime, you will be trapped in the animation while the 2nd slime will go heal the boss.

Boss Guide: Nameless Maiden

Nameless Maiden

This is quite a difficult boss because it requires a lot of timing and quick reaction. It has 3 stages. The player is recommended to have – speed buff, health potions, Juices that amplify a desirable trait, Saranite Tier gear and maxed out skill tree.

Stage 1:The Vine Bomb

At this stage the weird plant looking thingy will throw bombs at you. You will see where the bomb will land due to the red circle under your feet. There are 2 large vines, if you come close to them they will fall down to attack you, you can avoid their hit by baiting the attack and quickly running away. And finally from time to time there will be a small patch of dirt from which a small vine will rise to attack any nearby players, you cannot walk through the small vine so while running pay attention since you might end up getting hit because you got stuck on the dirt patch. This move is fairly slow though and also has a very small range of attack so it is quite easy to avoid. To go into stage 2 – what you need to do is destroy the large vines (they have shared hp so you don’t need to destroy each vine individually) If you will try to hit the large vines yourself, you will see that you deal 1 damage aka it’s the wrong choice on how to damage them. To deal damage to the vines what you need to do is first LEARN THE TIMING OF THE BOMB. This is crucial to dealing with the bomb, just try to run around at the beginning (try not to stay in front of the vines for too long if you don’t want to get damaged for nothing). It is even ok if you die at first because next time you will be able to cheese through this. After you learned the timing of the bomb try to get in front of the vine for a quick moment just to let it fall down and let the bomb hit it while it is on the ground, this deals about 80 or so damage. Just rinse repeat the whole bomb attacking the vine pattern and the occasional dodge of the small vine, and you will be fine.

Stage 2: Plant Beyblade

After you have bombed the vines enough times they will wither and become like this, this would mean that you entered stage 2.

Quickly after, the plant thingy that was throwing bombs at you is now spinning like crazy and following you at a high speed.

The way to dodge it is by going round this area in a circular pattern try to always be on the opposite side of the rectangle when it is spinning due to it being faster. After some time, it will stop spinning and that is the moment for you to strike, quick damaging skills and range skills are good for this because you can’t stay very close for too long because once it gets back it will start spinning and if you are close enough –it WILL punish you badly, usually it leads to death. Defending here is really not an option because it attacks more than your stamina can handle. But towards the end of it spinning, when it starts slowing down you could defend 2 or 3 hits just to get a bit more hits after. While spinning any attacks against the plant will only deal 1 damage which is why you must attack it only while it is stunned. After countless going round the rectangle and attacking the spinning plant, you will go into stage 3.

Stage 3: The Maiden herself

This stage consists of you actually going 1 v 1 against the Maiden, From time to time she will attack using a wave like attack, before it used to be a simple melee attack but now it’s a really strong range and melee attack that travels relatively fast so try 1st to dodge this attack and then go on an attack spree. There is also the blooming cactus attack. What it does is basically summoning a lot of cactuses on the 1st half of the battle field and a yellow zone:

Once you see it run towards the yellow zone as fast as possible, inside the zone you don’t get hit at all from the attack. After that she will go back to her usual wave attack. And then repeat this move again. When you get close enough to the maid the maid will try to attack you with her hands. They are pretty safe to just block although you need to know the timing of it since it can be quite deadly, and also don’t forget the occasional wave attack that can attack you from behind as well.

The difficulty of this boss comes from learning the timing correctly of Stage 1, For Stage 2 you need a lot of dps, a lot of patience and also a lot of awareness of how much time the plant is Knocked Out for. And in Stage 3 you also need to be aware of when she is going to attack with her wave since it can catch you by surprise and kill you, running into the safe zone during the cactus attack is not hard to achieve. Although overall range based players are at an advantage, especially in stage 2 and 3 where messing up the timing to hit the plant won’t be as potentially game ending as with melee. Or in stage 3 where you can safely snipe the maiden from far away with fireballs, arrows, etc.

Boss Guide: Double Nightmares

A very unique boss since it’s 2nd stage can be entered faster/slower depending on who the player chooses to attack. The player is recommended to have – speed buff, health potions, Juices that amplify a desirable trait, Goetium Tier gear and maxed out skill tree.

Stage 1: Double Dealing Nightmares

There are 2 Nightmares, the one with a staff and hat will be called Hatty, while the one with big antenna will be Hearty since it’s antenna looks like it’s in the shape of a heart.

Hatty is generally a melee oriented nightmare, while Hearty is the one more based on ranged attacks and traps. Each of them has 2 damaging moves. During Stage 1 the bosses will teleport and attack, they do not have moves that will try to hit you when you approach unlike the maiden for example, so if you safely dodged/blocked the attack you can safely attack (obviously you have to make sure the other Nightmare will not attack you). Once you take away all the HP of 1 of the nightmares, the 2 nightmares will merge together into a bigger Nightmare which is Stage 2. The HP is added together so it’s best to try to overall keep the damage of each individual nightmare very low in stage 1, so in stage 2 the big nightmare will have very little total HP

Hatty’s moves: Backslash – Hatty teleports near the player, usually from behind although it can vary and swings his scythe to hit the player, it can be easily dodged if the player simply runs, dashes, or shields the attack. Scythe Boomerang – Hatty teleports somewhere on the arena and throws its scythe at where the player was in a straight line and then comes back the same way. The scythe can be blocked however you need to be very careful since you need to block it on the return trip as well. if you dodged the scythe throw, and went to attack Hatty up-close, when the scythe comes back it will have a big chance to hit you if you are near him, so if you are a melee class it’s advised to hold the shield so you don’t get hit when the scythe is close to coming back to Hatty. Also Hatty’s attacks are cyclical aka after Backslash always comes Scythe Boomerang, there are no same attacks 2 times in a row.

Hearty’s moves: Lightning Rod – Hearty will teleport somewhere on the arena and throw a few Lightning Rods on the battle field, they don’t deal any damage on their own however it is very advised to destroy them (takes 3 melee hits) since they are important for Hearty’s next move. Thunderbolt – Hearty sends lightning into the skies which then falls onto the lightning rods and does a pretty large aoe attack around each rod, that does a lot of damage. Although without any rods this move doesn’t do anything. Dark Pulse – Hearty sends a black fireball in 8 directions starting with South-East going all the way around till East. This move is easy to avoid from far away and requires a block from up-close to reliable avoid damage. It is easy to see when the move comes since Hearty will stand upright instead of slanted and make its antenna in a more ark form rather than the heart. Hearty can use all 3 of its moves from the bush which it usually teleports in from.

Stage 2: Shadowzord

When the HP of either Hatty or Hearty reaches 0 they will combine into 1 big Nightmare it has 4 distinct attacks.

Ground Slam: The Nightmare comes close to the player and uses its hands to slam the ground. Can be dodged, or blocked. It is the most common attack it will use if you are very close to him.
Void Tendrils: The Nightmare will light up a bit and then extend its arms in a very wide ark. To dodge it, either move away the moment you see the boss light up or try to run downwards, the boss barely attacks there. Don’t underestimate the attack, if you are very close, hold your shield till the very end since the attack is quite long and may trick you of it ending earlier.

Rollout: The Nightmare will shrink into a ball and start spinning, it will then try to dash into you. The attack is in a straight line so it is easy to dodge, it is also possible to just block. The attack also has a lot of windup so you will have enough time to know that there is an attack coming. After hitting the wall though the boss becomes a bit invulnerable.

Cat Call:

The Nightmare will summon 2 cat nightmares (the same type you encounter on the rails), if the player is too far away from the nightmare aka a range counter play. It is also common after the boss did rollout and is far away. It is very advised that you try to kill them really quickly since they could really mess up the fight due to you being hit stunned.

Overall this Boss is pretty hard if the player chooses to concentrate on only 1 nightmare and then get quickly into stage 2 when he has a lot of hp. But can be quite easily cheesed since stage 1 is relatively easy to dodge / block and if both nightmares have very little hp just a few hits during stage 2 will kill him. An advise for stage 2 is to try to stay close and dodge/ block the attacks, while attacking yourself since the summon of the 2 cats can create some big problems if the player doesn’t deal with them quickly, it might even pile up into many nightmares following you.

Boss Guide: Nightmare King

This is the final boss of the game and probably the hardest one so far, the recommendations for this boss are the same as for the previous boss since you can’t get any better items to get an advantage. The boss is usually at the top of the map throwing attacks at you, although it has 1 attack that makes it disappear and attack you with its own hands. The boss has 5 attacks. It is not very recommended to block boss’s attacks since most of them are multi hit and could break through your stamina and/or don’t give you good enough space and time to attack the boss. So just avoiding his attacks is good enough.

Purple Balls:

The boss summons purple balls from its eyes that go into 3 major directions, down-left, down, down-right. There are some gaps in between each directions and at a far enough distance there is a gap in each individual direction. The best place to positon is between 2 of the major lines of attacks. If you get close enough you may even be in range to attack the boss with melee attacks without the risk of getting hit. And this phase is even safer for the range based classes since you can even be further and still deal damage.

Blue Spin:

The boss summons a lot of blue balls that spin counter-clockwise the pattern is in a + formation. To avoid it either get moves that have invincibility frames like Alice’s Merciless Whirlwind or the dash that every character has access to. Or if you have access to range attacks you can go far right or far left, since the move doesn’t cover the whole arena, so if you go the upmost section of the map and far to the either side you can use your range moves like throwing knives, bow and arrow, fireball, wind blade, etc. you can safely attack the boss while you are far from the move. The other way to dodge is to just casually follow the spheres and just go round and round, but it’s not very efficient since you are losing out on damage and just drags on the fight.

Eye Laser:

You will see a red circle under your feet, similar to the bomb used by the plant in the Nameless Maiden fight, you have a bit of time to maybe finish up that 1 hit you were doing on the boss and start running around, this is where the speed buff really comes into play, it’s not necessary but it gives great advantage. If you do not have a speed buff you just need to run but just walking is not enough. Getting hit by the laser can be devastating since it can hit you multiple times in a row and can lead to a quick death, and so if you get hit, just hold shift (or whatever button you have for running) and just run and pray that you escaped the death lock, since it can deal 100+ damage depending on your armor etc. Shielding the laser is probably the largest mistake you can do against this boss due to it’s many hits and limited stamina the player has. The range based character may be able to get in a sneaky attack or 2 while the laser is active but I highly recommend not to, because it is a bit risky and instead just run in a big circle pattern, so you come back to the boss’s face when the laser ends to deal damage. You can try to land some hits in after the laser ended but you won’t be able to attack for too long since he will disappear very soon after because of his next attack.

String Hands:

The boss will disappear and you will not be able to hit him until he finishes his attack. After some time, he will appear again and use his hands to swipe down and then up, with some kind of colorful lines left behind which look a bit like strings Doflamingo wanna be. This move is pretty easy to avoid, all you need to do is just when he is invisible go down, no need to run, just walk down and you will dodge the attack. He does it twice though so after he attacks once run up and then walk down again. After his 2nd hit you can try to run up again to start dealing some damage to him when he appears at the top of the map where he usually sits, before he starts using his next attack. This move is not really that dangerous, it can be blocked but there is no much point since you won’t know exactly when he will want to hit and you don’t recover stamina while shielding (although with good enough timing you can do that). And another reason that shielding this move may not be the best move is that he will be invulnerable during the attack anyway so there isn’t much reward for blocking it.

Horn Missiles:

The boss’ horns will start glowing white and then shoot into the air, to then come down. Then you will see red circles on the floor that will be the places where the attacks will fall, the attacks will come 2 times. If you get hit by the attack, due to its successive hit pattern, you may end up getting hit 2 times for messing up once. You can either try to stay still until you see a red spot and quickly run, or you may try to run around and then dodge them, either way works just the 2nd option is a bit easier, but with 1st option you have time to deal damage to the boss a bit, and does not get you in a disadvantaged state like being far away from the boss. Although unlike the laser it doesn’t constantly follow you, only 1/4 of the points will be directly on you. The other 3 will try to hit you if you just randomly move to a direction. I am not exactly sure how the angle of the attack is calculated. It might be the latest vector that he player walked in. Overall to avoid the attack, speed buffs are recommended although not necessary. Running without the speed buffs is another way to dodge it. Again Invincible moves can be used from damaging skills to the dash ability that every character has. Shielding this attacks may not be recommended since you can get hit from behind sometimes, or you can get your shield hit twice which could greatly reduce your stamina, so simply dodging is the more reliable and probably safer option. After some time, his eyes will start glowing pink and he will start doing the Purple balls attack again and the cycle continues.

The attacks the boss does always follows the same order: Purple Balls -> Blue Spin -> Eye Laser -> String Hands -> Horn Missile and then it repeats from beginning, the boss has no stages depending on HP and so the boss will not ever get any harder than this (unless they change it later on).

Anyway that was the last boss, I wish you all Good Luck with trying to kill them, I personally after Killing all of them at least 5 times don’t find them hard at all because it is in a sense an “action reaction” fight, if the boss does something you do something to either dodge it or try to turn the action against itself. And if the boss doesn’t do anything – just attack it.

General Tips and My Experience

Tips:
  • If you are lucky/don’t care too much about your time you can get a diamond in the caves for free without needing to buy one.
  • I found it pretty easy to get money by selling logs or the screw nuts from the screw nut twig.
With this money you can use to buy from the night merchant, (he appears if there is a snowman head present during night) special accessories that all do different things and are quite unique, some are better some are worse and their usefulness changes depending on what tier you are currently on. Each accessory costs 3.8k though so beware.

  • There are chests scattered around the world, in zone 1 it’s a trap chest that will spawn bombs. Zone 3 has frozen chests that needs to be melted using a campfire. Zone 5 has vined chests that are p-much a dps fight, it regenerates hp but if you can output more damage than its regen than you will destroy the vines. Zone 1 chests contain rings, cloth, eskimos, potions. Zone 3 chests contain accessories sold by the night merchant and the Cloud mount. Zone 5 chests contain upgrade books for pet.
  • You might occasionally get a treasure map from a defeated foe , once right clicked in inventory it will show a mark somewhere on the map, if you go there and dig up the snow mound you will find a buried zone 1 chest. To get another map you must uncover the existing treasure spot.
  • You can actually farm slimes, using a pump at least 1 baby slime which you can get from the seller robot from iron ville and live plants that they eat: blue slimes eat green herbs and oil slimes eat screw nuts. The pump will get mucus and oily liquid respectively.
  • Don’t overlook red zones, even if they are far away that 1 crystal could be incredibly important to you.

  • Don’t think that the mana regen passive skill is only for mages, every character can use mana for their advantage and in midst of battle being short on mana could mean defeat or at least an undesirable outcome.
  • Use self-made teleportation plates and stones, I create 1 for my base and another one near the pirate since I hate running all the time to the captain and back
  • Don’t underestimate the power of accessories and hats, I try always have a health ring, and mana/stamina ring, and maybe a specific accessory that I particularly like in my inv always available because having passive hp regen while you walk, having fast mana regen during a boss battle, having an increase rate of charge of stamina while running, are all very useful at certain times.
My Experience with FTS

So I have been playing this game from 4th of July 2017 and I have seen the game change many times from general addition of new things to changes of already existing things. It was a real pleasure to follow such an amazing game and I hope to see something more in the future from Team Owlett. I think overall this game is good, although it needs polish in a few places and after 100 hours of total play (at least 10 of which are from uncovering the map for this guide) I am not feeling the same excitement and joy as I did in my first couple of runs, multiplayer still needs a bit of patching due to its many bugs. A few places need fixing like for example Nightmare King allows you to teleport from the Abyss but still remain in the blackened skin of the character for as much time as you want. Or being able to leave the arena during the Double Nightmares boss fight through a small gap. And also the general lack of any post game.

HOWEVER, the music is fantastic, the sound effects are pretty good, the atmosphere the game can give is incredible even if the art style is not very realistic & a general sense of adventure and mystery in every new zone. The Story is not bad and I can see that effort was put. The art style is quite cute and pleasant to view but the special actual drawn images with smooth lines which you can see for example at the beginning of the game is stunning. And for the 6$ that I paid for it, it gave me enough content to satisfy myself with. Yes, a single run will probably be less than 15 hours however you won’t really know how it is like to play with other classes. Maybe you want to build a cool looking house, or maybe you want to just have a massive slime/plant farm. You have the potential to do whatever.

Anyway about the game: I think the game has moderate difficulty which may seem boring for some because it usually involves “kill mobs, get recipe, get new ore, get new weapon and/or armor, progress through story to new location and repeat” but I actually enjoyed it because if you are skilled enough you can actually be more than 2 tiers behind but with the right usage of skills to win against enemies and bosses. Speaking of which the bosses here are wonderful and besides 1 of them which I wish was stronger, I really enjoyed every boss fight, all of them felt unique in their own way. My only problem is that I think that generally the bosses are easier for range based players because it allows more time to dodge projectiles, in case of Knigness with her Icicle projectiles, you don’t need to shield 3 or more projectiles that just absolutely drain your stamina if you are playing as melee. And especially for the last boss I found myself being able to abuse some strategies as a range based player to both be in a safe zone from the boss’ attacks while also dealing damage to it.
