Shark Shield Strategy for Depth

Shark Shield Strategy

Overview

A quick guide on how to get the most out of the $700 you spend on a Shark Shield.

Introduction

Shark Shields are a consumable that last 30 seconds. During that 30 seconds, sharks cannot see the silhouette. They can be used to turn the tide in a match, however they are usually employed as a stalling tactic by divers in order to preserve spawn tickets, giving a better chance of letting S.T.E.V.E get back to the boat. However, once deployed, a diver’s strategy should change and allow him/her to get a few easy kills.
Use shields. Aviod unwanted sharks bursting through the floor.

How to git gud with Shark Shields

The majority of the time in a match, most of the divers will be hanging out in a safe room with S.T.E.V.E. The “bubble” shark shields make usually extends beyond the walls of the room, with the exception of a few areas, such as the first safe in Antiguo. This lets divers exit the room to look for sharks without being seen. When a shark shield is deployed, sharks generally hang out in open water waiting for the shield to run out of power. These sharks are easy kills as long as you have half decent aim. In becoming more agressive rather than just waiting out while hidden from sharks, divers can bring the shark’s spawn tickets right down by a few very easily.

Gomer Piles has added a few things in the comments that I’ll put here as well so they’re easier to see. Diver’s flashlights can be seen when even when shark shields are deployed, so they can be turned off using the “G” key to aviod detection. Also, when placing shark shields, they can be turned off to save battery until you can heart the heartbeat indicating a shark is nearby. Take note that there are no divers out in the open when you turn it off so as not to leave them stranded sharkbait.

PS Don’t be an idiot

Don’t place shield out in the open. Put them somewhere a shark would have a hard time getting to, like between objects, like between these bits of rubble at the second safe in Olmec.
