Overview
A beginner’s guide to enable multiple mods at once! For those unsure on how to do it, look inside!
Intro
That Family Mix soundtrack sounds amazing! And this mod which replaces Cadence with Curly Brace! And this Charizard Mod which replaces the enemies in the game! But… I can only pick one?
As of now, (27/4/15) you can only enable one mod only. This is most likely to avoid conflict with other mods if they are reading the same file. (For example, two mods which involves replacing Cadance, therefore a conflict in files.)
But there is a workaround that, one which you can do in just 5 minutes or less! In this guide, we will compile all the contents of the mods we want into a single mod folder, and the game will play it. Because I need a break from Aria mode, I can’t even pass the first zone. After dying 50 times. Maybe more.
Working with game files!
Alright, first off, head over to your Steam folder, located in:
For 32-bit windows, it’s likely in:
There are two folders which we’ll be touching. downloaded_mods and mods.
Now, head over to the mods folder, and create a New Folder there.
In this example, we’ll be calling this folder ‘ModsCompiled’. This is where we’ll be throwing in all the mods we want to put.
Now that we created our folder, we’re going to look for the mods we want to put. So navigate over to the ‘downloaded_mods‘ section.
For this guide, I’ll be using three different mods. Authentic Aria, 404 An Error Haz Okuued, and Family Business – Mashup Soundtrack, being a character mod, enemy mod, and a soundtrack mod respectively.
I’ll start with moving Authentic Aria first. What you want to do is open up the folder, and you can see the game folders which the mod uses. For this case, it’s just the ‘entities’ folder.
Do you still remember the ModsCompiled folder we made in the mods folder? What you want to do is copy and paste the folder (Not move!) into the new folder.
Congratulations, what you just did is move the Authentic Aria sprite over to the ModsCompiled folder!
Repeat the same step with the next mod you want to copy over.
For the screenshot above, I am moving the content from the ‘404 An Error Haz Okuued’ folder to the ModsCompiled folder. The mod uses the same folder, and it’s fine if the folder is the same, but if the filename is different, then there’s a conflict with another mod. (Example, if you are trying to move a mod which changes Cadence’s sprite with another mod which also changes Cadence’s sprite.)
Note: You can also create the ModsCompiled folder in the downloaded_mods section and do the same steps, but it’s a bit messy to find if you downloaded alot of mods.
Just repeat the same steps for the mods you want until you’re satisfied!
Enable it in-game!
After you moved what you want, that’s it, you’re done! Just boot up the game.
All you have to do is get to the lobby, and navigate to the mod selection screen. (If you haven’t known how to do that yet, Press ESC in the Lobby and choose ‘Mods’)
You should be able to see your folder at the top! Just select that, and…
Congratulations! You did it! You managed to put multiple mods at once! Have fun!
Final Notes
I would like to give a big thank you for all the extremely talented modders who had contributed to the Steam Workshop! As this is my first guide in Steam, I hope everything’s explained well. Remember that mods may not work correctly if there are any conflicting files.
Thanks for reading!
