The Age of Decadence Guide

Steal everything: A thieves guide to Maadoran for The Age of Decadence

Steal everything: A thieves guide to Maadoran

Overview

WIP/incomplete: Continuation of the thieves guide to Teron

Arriving in Maadoran

Starting stats from the previous guide “Steal everything: A thieves guide to Teron”, we start at the city gates.

Last update 20200720: Added 2nd Part of Arena, Militades

Kenembi next to the city gate doesn’t trust us (yet), we will be back.

The inn:
Lets go to the inn. Listen to the storyteller and ask your questions.
Talk to the innkeep and buy a room, [trade] the price down to 100gp for +1 CiSP

Kadmos is an excellent fighter and ex-gladiator. Let’s get some better equipment before challenging him.

Lower floor, 1st room: +1 CiSP sneak in, +1 CiSp steal from patron, +2 CiSP picking locks and loot steel pugio, steel iggots, gold, iron mallet and 1 whestone, 1 salve
Lower floor, 2nd room: 1+ CiSp unlock door, +1 CiSP sneak in, steal patron left +1 CiSP sapphires and ruby ring, steal patron right +1 CiSP, gold and gold ring
Lower floor, 3rd room: shop, get there from outside

upper floor, 1st room: +1 CiSP unlock door, +1 CiSp sneak in, loot shelf (noble clothes), !trapped chest (leave it for now)
upper floor, 2nd room: your stash.

Across the street, talk to Clericus, asking him about the caravans and cities.
Towards the arena, there is a local guide. Talk to him about everything: the city, jobs, people you look for, work
The “Grab a bite” tavern owner Basil doesn’t offer anything right now (but will be important later)

Make sure you have your armor and weapons equippeed and ready.
I suggest poisoned heavy crossbow (hands), poisoned light crossbow (belt) and bombs (belt), with sharpened/poisoned dagger and shield in inventory

Upon entering the crossroads in front of the arena, a cutscene starts.
1) follow them
2) intervene

3a) thief option for 4 SP and Arbiter Dagger
3b) body count – you likely won’t meet the reqirement
3c) [streetwise 5] 1 CiSP, 4 SP and Arbiter Dagger
4d) kill them all: +3 CoSP, 4 SP and Aribter Dagger + loot.
Tactics: throw bomb, shoot knocked down enemies (ideally 2) with crossbow & hand crossbow, finish the rest with poisoned dagger
If you didn’t increase any weapon skill, this fight can be hard with just one bomb – better reload if you don’t win initiative. If all else fails,
throw another bomb (but bombs are rare!).

Pick up the Kadura leaves in the area and check out the Arbiter dagger. +26% THC – this is the reason we didn’t distribute points to weapons so far – we
will go a long way with this beauty! Sharpen it, poison it and enjoy. Also don’t forget to heal up and use crafting to repair your armor if necessary.

18/64/24

While the arena beckons, lets first get some better equipment. At the crossroads in front of the
arena, go east, north and east again to go to the Trade District.

Looting the Trade District

Trade District I

steal not yet possible, return later.

Farmer close to blacksmith:
give him tips in alchemy(4), trading(4) and listen to his stories

you run out of sharpening stones, for now just buy enough wood to craft two
scoped heavy crossbows (masterwork, mechanical).

Trade district, ordu trader
sells “Mangudai Ordu Armor”, skip for now

Market stand NE of plaza:
+1 CiSP for steal, gold goblets

Since we are not allowed to the 2nd floor, head out again
18/64/33

Visit Tiresias home, 1st entrance west of Abukars tower:
a) Pay 500gp for a lesson yielding 15 CiSP (could be reduced with streetwise 7,
but no extra SP and too expensive right now)
b) there is another hidden option with high streetwise, but thats for later…
18/65/48

Nasirs shop, 2nd entrance west of Abukars tower:
Talk to him to get the quest:
The gem (Steal Sapphire from Silvanus)

Abukars tower:
some kadura leaves grow behind it
Ask abukar about his telescope, and follow the dialogue to get the location of the library of saross
Also ask about your artifacs

Finally, go north to the Palace District

Palace District I

Palace District

Someone tries to sell you a (fake) badge. There is no use for this item except for a dialogue with a guard, so don’t fall for it.

You cannot enter the palace. But Caius Amerius stands aroud here demanding justice.
Agree to help him, but only if he gives you some trinkets. He will lead you to his house.
gain Quest: The Rightful Owner

18/64/48

Raise streetwise 4->5, impersonate 3->4

18/64/18

Parley with the mercenearies inside
1) I’ve heard enough, get out!
2) [impersonate+streetwise] i’m a praetor! +1 CiSP
3) I thought it was taken by mercenaries.
4) Agree to their propossal. (mod Quest: Rightful Owner)
5) leave and tell Amerius you are working on it.

Back to palace district/noble homes

Enter the bathhouse:
-> sneak into NE room +1 CiSP, lockpick both containers for +2 CiSP and 6x rock oil
18/64/22

Time to get Nasirs Gem
Go to the villa directly SE of the palace (“Rich Villa”)
1) try to parlay – you are shut down by a guild member
2) try again, this time using [sneak] to get to the roof +1 CiSP
3) wait for the guard to go down [sneak] +1 CiSP
4) [lockpick] the door +1 CiSP
5) loot sapphire, 450 gold and blue steel ignots and back out
6) go back to Nasir (N of Merchants Plaza) for 6SP and 1000 gold

Shopping Tour

Shopping tour

18/70/25
Raise Trade 4->5
18/70/5

We probably won’t raise trade beyond 5, so all the loot we didn’t sell in Teron and Madoran can be sold now. Don’t sell unique and blue steel items,
crafting and alchemy resources. Basically, all those gold plates, gems etc
, so head to your stash and sell all the non-unique loot.
(Not resources like iron, ingredients, blue steel weapons/armor, unique items, or non-improved weapons – those can be disassembled and sold for more later)
~ 5800 gold.

Exotic Emporium Trader
Buy [trade] (500gp) the “Pendulum of Judgement” +1 CiSP

The Curio Trader
Buy [trade] (250 gold) the ” ” +1 CiSP
Buy [trade] (800 gold) a power tube + 1 CiSP

The Ordu Trader
Buy [trade] (300 gold) the “Mangudai Ordu Armor” +1 CiSP

The Fletcher
Buy [trade] (400 gold) the “Old Faithful” Bow +1 CiSP

The Shields Trader
Buy [trade] (300 gold) the “Impenetrable” Shield +1 CiSP

The Alchemy Trader
Buy Black Powder

The Imperial Trader
Buy [trade] (1500 gold) “Dreamweaver” Blue Steel Sword +1 CiSP

The Armor Merchant
not enough money :/ (return later)

(about 1800 gold left)

Aurelian Mine, final improvement

Time to fix the second stage of the smelter in the Aurelian Mine. Keep the power tube,
but stash the new armor&weapons and go the Aurelian Mine using the world map.
Important: don’t approache Teron, this would break the current quests in Maadoran.

18/70/12
Raise Lore 4->7
18/12/0

Read the scroll you found in the Daratan palace, [lore] and this time you are able to
understand the mantra. Since we don’t have a giant flying fortress at hand, put the
scroll back.

Approache the machine
1) [crafting] examine agein
2) [lore] figure it out
3) Remove old tube and insert new. +12 SP
4) Decanus arrives, rewards you with 150 gold, 10lb blue steel, +1 Prestige, +3 Daratan reputation, -2 Aurelian reputation

18/24/0

Return to Maadoran

Arena District II: Gladiator

Time to make it in the Arena!

18/24/0
Raise Crossbow 1->3
3/24/0

Return to the inn at the city entrance. Time to show this Kadmos whats what.
Make sure you have your poisoned scoped crossbow and a bomb equipped.
Tactics:
1) Wait for him to get closer, then use a bomb to throw him down
2a) If he is knocked down, hit him with a snipe shot from your crossbow
2b) if he is not knocked down, back up (don’t throw a second bomb), end turn and go to 1)
3a) if hes dead, congrats – if not, reload the crossbow, wait pray you survive and go to 1)
You have about 50% chance to win with just one bomb, and almost guaranteed to win with 2 bombs.
+3 CoSP, amazing loot:
– Kadmos Skewer (amazing unique 1h spear for close and long range),
– Swordbreaker, a great unique DR8(!) buckler
– Warriors Crown, an amazing blue steel DR8 helm with no penalties
– Blue steel manica (good for dodgers, but low DR and we don’t have any dodge skills)
– misc

6/24/0

Swordbreaker and Warriors Crown will be our equipment for Maadoran, and if you want to specialize in
spears, you just found the best one in the game. Not best damage and stats, but 1h AND close range AND long
range is mechanically downright evil. Try fighting Kadmos with normal tactics to see what i mean…

To the Arena

Whenever you are only slightly damaged, go to the healer in the Trade District. After the 3rd time healing, lalk to
him again to get the quest “The Exlixir” – after this, use alchemy to make healing salve.

1st Fight
Enemy: A non-guild thief of all things.
Basically its an execution. Sniper Shot, switch to dagger & shield
+ 30 gold and +1 CoSP.

7/24/0

2nd Fight
A zealot.
Basically unarmored, open with sniper shot and switch to dagger&shield. Might damage your armor, damn those hammers.
+1 CoSp, 40 gold.

8/24/0

3rd Fight
Isatis, crossbow specialist
Use your two heavy scoped crossbows with sniper shot. You should hit 2 out of 3 shots (73% THC) but will take some damage during reload.
+1 CoSP, 40 gold.

9/24/0

4th Fight
Papa Yochan, Hammer & Shield
Sniper shot, followed by dagger&shield (if necessary)
+2 CoSP, +1 Combat Skill, +70 imperials

11/24/0
Raise Crossbow 3->4
1/24/0

5th Fight
The Raider, Axe & Shield
Sniper shot, switch weapons, keep distance, sniper shot. His axe is poisoned, so you will want to kite him a bit.
+2 CoSP, 70 imperials, Rank: Gladiator, Quest: Problem Solving

3/24/0

Before we follow this quest however, lets explore the rest of the arena quarter:

North-West of the arena, a cutscene occurs: A crowd wants to burn some priests from house Crassus
a) easy fight (no armor) for +1 CoSP, +2 SP, +1 House Crassus and very minor loot
b) lore+persuade +1 CiSP disperse them, +2 SP, +1 Peacemaker reputation, +1 House Crassus
c) side with them: +2 SP, -1 rep House Crassus, Regulus (crowd leader) explains why he hunts the priests & you can donate money to the cause
3/26/1

I would suggest to pick option b) since Peacemaker rep isn’t easy to get for a thief. and the rest is about same (unless you want a high body count)

North-East of the arena, you can open a door to the house of Domitius, the guy we should ask about the map according to Lord Antidas
Listen to his story +18SP
You are taken to Lord Gaelius. He asks you to find the temple for him, but then refuses your services since you are a thief?! Ok,
guess we will have to find some valuable information before we can enter his service.
3/44/1

To the east, next to the exit to the slums, a youth wants you to deliver a package to Neros in the slums. Trade for 50/50 and ask him some questions, but agree in general.
Quest: The Package

Also, a begger is on the other side of the slum entrance. Give him 5gp and listen to his story.

Other than that, there is the imperial guard (no interaction since its not our faction), a brothel (part of a later quest) and Domitius House (for the map quest, don’t go there yet)

Make sure you have your fighting equipment with you, and enter the slums.

Slums and Temple District I

Follow your new guide Leon into an ambush. The ensuing fight should be no problem with your new equipment. +1CoSP, loot
5/44/1

Move to Herman at the well (don’t go back to the entrance!)
This would be a hard fight, and they are part of the 40 thiesves guild. We could just tell them who we are,
but why do a little con-job for extra SP. And we need the required skills, anyway.

5/44/1
Persuade 4->5
5/25/0

1) talk to Herman
2) Just passing through
3) [streetwise] relax friend
4) [persuade/streetwise] You shake down tourists, i’m a badass spy noob
+2 CiSP

5/25/2

Go North towards the Temple district (leave Neros for now, we’ll be back soon).

Upon entering, Clemens the street doc gives you a short overview.

To the left, Zeb the trader has some special stock to unlock with [alchemy] and [traps] dialogue. Buy
his bombs and black powder immediately and bookmark him for later if you need extra rock oil/fire bombs.

Livia, the girl from Teron is here. She will tell you a bit about levir and her plans.

Visit the traders in the temple district:

1st trader (E of temple entrance) has a special eye, use [trade] to buy it for 100gp and +1 CiSP

2nd trader (E of temple entrance) has an axe called “Black Dow”, use [trade] for +1 CiSP (you don’t actually buy it to get the CiSP!)

3rd trader (W of temple entrance) has a steel club called “The Perforator” use [trade] to gain +1 CiSP

5/25/5

Take a look at the eye you bought. Maybe Clemens, the street doc knows someting about it? He does, and wants to try something
with it for 100gp. Congrats, you are now a cyborg with the “Augmented: Far Sight” perk.

Talk to the Thief at temple entrance, enter and talk to Levir. He’t not happy about our hard-earned treasure, the ungrateful git.
With [perception] and [lore] you get some extra dialogue, but don’t go to the merchant plaza at night just yet – since this quest
treasure offers some personal power for the thief – which requires a bit of extra preparation effort.

Fast travel to the slums entrance, and go to the left the first chance you get. If you trigger an encounter, you went too far!
You should see a “dirty-looking local” next to the well. Talk to him and agree to take a look at the well. Use this precise path,
we don’t meet the requirements for the other paths (yet).
1) go down
2) go deeper
3) go in
4) go right
5) dex+con
6) go left
7) explore the chamber +2 SP

9) Find a socket for a power tube (requires big tube, we still have to find one of those)
10) Inactive doorway/control panel (nothing for now)
11) [perception] search the rubble for alchemy ingredients
12) [perception] search the rubble in the next room for gold, blue steel and sky metal!
13) search & lockpick the stongbox for +1 CiSP, 2 small power tubes, strange mask artifact and even more blue steel.
14) bookshelf is empty (was looted by Mense)
15) swim back to first chamber
16) go back to surface
17) give the local 100gp for +1 word of honor

Time to check out the Abyss. Go directly to a guy called Mehrab, tell him you are a [thief] – he doesn’t care. Lets tell Herman about it.
However, we still want to avoid a special encounter in the slums. So don’t go there directly, but fast travel to the temple instead, go south
to the slums and to Herman. Prep for a fight (loading your crossbows, scoped one in hand, others in belt. Talk to Hermon to get two thieves
helping you out. Fight starts, wait and your allies should damage Mherab. Use snipe to finish him off (i had 95% THC, 71% CS) – if necessary send a
hand crossbow bolt. Its ok if a thief dies, so should be no problem as long as you kill Mherab fast
+2 CoSP, + 2 Forty thieves reputation

7/27/6

Some alchemy ingredients are nearby (including quicksilver leaves), then go south to the abyss

The Abyss

Some old man tells you a bit of background and sells an amulet (why not, its cheap).
But we really need the mask we got from the well, a power tube (also well) and lore to understand it.

Go inside the abyss, follow the steps however you want. At some point, you will have the option to use the
strange mask with [lore]. Do so and use a power tupe to activate! go down to the center for +30SP (!).
Follow an very interesting thread of information and pay close attention, many hints and infos about the magi and
past events.
7/57/6
Raise Lore 5->8
7/33/0

Read on the shelf about what happened here, then use the console.
You have 2 options:
a) End the creatures pain for another +30 SP and the “Godslayer” perk
b) power up the machine – which will destroy the whole city and yourself
Note: we can actually survive option 2 and gain the achievement a bit late in this playthrough but i wouldn’t recommend it, since it ends the whole city
and all quests – not to mention killing everyone there. If you want to do it and survive, you need CON 7,
and do it before you leave for the last city.

I’ll assume you took a)

Talk to the old man that sold you the amulet. Hes not amused at first, until you tell him about the dead “god” down there. What a great
business opportunity! You can actually come back later to check out his “exhibition”…

7/63/0

Neros Drinking Hole

We still have Neros package to deliver (Quest: The Package), so head to
the temple district and go south (we still want to avoid triggering an
event in the center of the slums).

Enter “Neros Drinking Hole and Debt Collection”
1) [traps] tell Nelos about the bomb
2) find out who the youth is called Calvus and lives in the Noble quarter
2) [trade] ask for more money
3) Teach him some manners (Should not need a bomb, just crossbows followed by dagger&shield)
+2 CoSP

Lets check out the kid that was trying to blow us (and Neros) up!
Head to the Noble Quarter and pay him a visit
His father thinks paying 100 imperials is enough to pay for his
son trying to blow us up.
1) Teach them a lesson (straight up fight, they are unarmored) +1 CoSP, +6 SP
2) run away (you cannot kill the guards, and would have to pay 3000 imperials – not worth it)

10/69/1

Arena District Mercenary

Problem solving
Basil, the tavern owner has problems with some thugs, so lets help him out.
The fight can be easy if you go first (almost guaranteed crit – shoot the guy in black armor since
his weapon is poisoned. Or hard if you don’t go first, since they like to use disabling attacks and bleeding ones. If you
have problems, use burning oils to keep them at a distance, but the fight shouldn’t be difficult.
+2 CoSP, free healing and [trade] 500 gold reward + Quintos the brothel owner now wants your help

12/69/1

Quintos brothel is in the NE part of the Arena district.
Use rock oil to create a fire flask, load all your crossbows.
Main hand: fire flask,
belt1+2 hand crossbows.
round1: shoot one poison bolt at each enemy, take one step back to be in the corner, throw fire bomb to keep them away
round2: switch to scoped crossbow and shoot the hammer guy (70-80% crit chance for some reason)
round3+: switch to shield and dagger(fast) to kill them off (or die tryin)
(if this doesn’t work for you, use another fire bomb for more crossbow+poison from behind flames
+2 CoSp
Go back to Basil
1) Ask who is running the racket and follow up with [streetwise], but he won’t go into it
2) Report your success +6 SP, gain Quest: Down on Luck
14/75/1

Down on Luck
Go to the citry entrance and talk to Kemnebi
The job will involve a long mass fight with tons of loot, so make sure you put everything non-essential in your
stash to have some space. The ensuing fight is runs well without your aid, just pick them off with your crossbow
as needed and don’t get caught in the front lines. As long as Kenembi and Red Graccus survive, everything is fine.
+1 CoSP, +2 SP, tons of iron+leather+bronze equipment
Convert all iron weapons to ignots (and other crafting materials if you have capacity left). The chest contains stones only!
You can get a double crossbow from Red Graccus (nothing special except for two shots). Return to Maadoran and talk to
Kenembi again for block training +5, and 15 CiSP (normally used to increase trade, but we are at 5 already)
15/77/16

The Library of Saross (and other ancient sites)

Since we are quite the loremaster now, lets travel to the Library of Saross. Make sure you have an antidote and poison in your inventory.
+5 SP for exploring
Approach the prospector at the temple
1) accept his invitation (despite knowing something is off)
2) [alchemy success]
3) [streewise] poison him yourself +2 CiSP, loot him for air valve and rock oil.
4) [intelligence] there is a secret chamber
5) explore the shelves
6) go to the basement
7) examine the shelves: +location “the arch”, +location “zamedi”, +location “inferiae”
8) Look at the machine, reattach the air valve but you need the oil injector.
9) harvest herbs and go back to maadoran

Talk to Abukar
1) ask about the library
2) int+streetwise you disabled the machine +1 CiSp and Oil injector
3) the curio trader has just an air valve, but we have one from prospector already
4) Make sure you have 3x rock oil in your inventory and the cube you found way back in Terons first quest.
5) Back to the library

15/82/19
Raise Crafting 4->7
15/31/0

6) [intelligence+crafting] Don’t use the oil injector, jury rig it instead +4 CiSP
7) [alchemy] 3x rock oil is enough
8) power is back online +2 CiSP
9) the switch behind the stairs is now operational
10) Examine the tablets +6SP
11) [lore] decipher the text
12) [perception] examine tablets again to find “Surgical kit” of goodhood+1 ^^ (one of the ingredients, that is)
15/37/6

Travel to Zamedi for +5 SP exploring
You can talk to the priest and examine the wall, but no way to pass.

Travel to the Arch for +5 SP exploring
Esbenus – the bandit from Teron – made camp here with some slavers
We don’t have what is needed to interact with the Arch yet, so just leave.

Make sure to have 1-2 bombs, and 2+ fire bombs in your inventory
Travel to Inferiae for +5 SP exloring

Inferiae

Travel to Inferiae for +5 SP exloring

15/52/6

1) Talk to Azra – i only list options with more than one choice
2) “this is your garden ?”
3) “holds answers to many questions”
4) “relics” -> “wisdom or fear” -> “Is the god still here?”
5) DON’t pick [intelligence] yet, instead “And you are so used to expecting the worst”
6) “Everyone needs something”
7) [Intelligence] “Are you so certain…” +1 CiSP, Map Location: Ganezzar
8) How did you get across ?
9) [intelligence] you seem to know a lot
10) ask about middle of town & take your chances.

Next part has several options. Part a) is easier, but b) adds extra lore and computer literatacy, the latter is quite important

a)
1) Let the villagers take you down the pit
2) [sneak] down +1 CiSP
3) go to the control panel
4) [lore] Do it
5) [lore+int] keep sphere stable +1 CiSP
6) [int+lore] activate defense mode +3 CoSP, +3 CiSP, +1 Combat Reputation
7) go back up
8) loot the Guardian

OR

b)
1) Let the villagers take you down the pit
2) introduce yourself
3) discuss till you get [streetwise+persuade] to get accepted +2 CiSP
4) Ask about the portal
5) [lore] about yazatas
6) [lore+intelligence success] show me how to use crystal for a advanced computer use crash course
7) after exhausting all options, kill the Guardian +3 CoSP, +1 Combat Reputation, Loot: Steel weapons and demon core

Killing the guardian:
This fight isn’t easy. If you have too much trouble, consider doing it at a later time. You can enter combat at any
time pressing the crossed swords icon. So pick a good, far away position, and open the fightwith a sniper shot with a barbed missile.
1st round: With 50% crit chance, you might very well do ~32 damage in a single shot. Use a fire bomb to block the path
2nd round: switch to 2nd sniper crossbow, reload first
3rd round: fire 2nd sniper shot crossbow, throw 2nd fire bomb
4th round: switch to 1st sniper shot crossbow, fire it
5th round: with some luck, a bomb or 2 will be enough to finish it off
6th round+: otherwise pray you don’t get crit while reloading and shooting more sniper shots

8) optional: use the panel to [int+lore] activate defense mode +3 CiSP (warning: kills everyone in Inferiae – not necessary)
9) go through the portal +12 SP
10) Examine the message
11) pick up the glove
12) pick up the power tube
13) use the elevator
14) if inferiae was destroyed, go back for loot

I strongly recommend option b) and will assume you picked it, too. Computer literate makes using computers much easier,
you would need to increase lore to 10 without this knowledge. Killing the village isn’t required and i won’t assume you did
– on the other hand, the villagers will continue sacrificing people, so its up to you. Yet another option is to leave and come
back later, killing everyone by hand in a fair(ish) fight

18/64/9

Working for the 40 Thieves

Back in Maadoran, we can talk to the guide at the city entrance about Azra “ever heard about the witch?”
Abukar also has a small piece of dialogue about Azra. In Inferiae, we unfortunately cannot talk more about her amazing story.

Remember the portal in the sewers? It was missing a power core, which we just aquired.
So, back to the sewers (first right, then left) and activate the portal here. The control
panel is broken, but we still can go to a fixed location. Do so & explore.
1) Examine the console
2) databanks
3) portal network
4) examine the tank
5) examine the shelves [lore] infos about sedation
6) examine the vats to get a medical canister (you need to have examined the shelves first)
7) lockpick the strongbox +1 CiSP and a jar
8) Examine the machine: [lore] and choose to increase CON to 6 (we need to get to 7 for some later options)
9) back through the portal and sewers

Thieves Guild Madoraan Quest 1
Now we have all the information to realize what the treasure we should steal actually is (and its wasted
on the guildmaster!). Equip Scoped Crossbow (regular poisoned) + hand crossbows (armor piercing poisoned)
1) go to levir to get to the merchants square at night.
2) SNEAK ATTACK +1 Critical Strike
3) SNEAK ATTACK +1 Critical Strike
4) SNEAK Att whoops. Ok well fight the last guy.
Tactics: Snipe him of course. He starts far away, so you can do two snipes before he arrives. Kill with armor piercing hand crossbow
if the Snipes didn’t already kill him. +2 CoSP
5) enter the building
6) lockpick the mechanism +1 CiSP
7) take the jar
8) don’t take the gold. No matter how good our trap skill, and how much weight we have from decomposed guard amors, we cannot disarm it 🙁
9) Return to levir
Choices:
a) You could give levir the jar for 18SP, +3 thieves guild reputation and gold
b) or dont go to levir, but to take it to the monastry (via sewers, first right, then left) use the jar yourself for another +1 CON -> 7 CON total
I absolutely recommend option b), since CON 7 unlocks some interesting things and is worth more than the other reward. I will assume you took choice b)
Don’t forget to pick up your large power cube when leaving the monastry for the second time, and bring Levir the bad news. Thieves reputation -1.

Thieves Guild Madoraan Quest 2
1) Talk To Isandros & Bassars to get the mission rundown
2) Ask issandros about getting backup and equipment
3) Zeb the trader has no new dialogue, guess everything is already unlocked due to earlier alchemy and crafting checks, makes sure you buy/have blood mushrooms and Kadura Leaves
4) There is a new NPC called Rusty at the eastern edge of the temple, use streetwise or body count to convince him, and offer 100 gold to his men for each kill
5) go back to Isandros
6) Use the [alchemy] option to make your new hires go berserk, but most importantly get a very potent poison: 6damage for 7turns – more potent than any we can brew ourselfs!
7) make sure you have some black powder from Zeb (or from your stash)
8) ready your scoped crossbows and hand crossbows, and talk to Isandros again
9) Talk to Aziz and Lucius, but choose your own plan:
10) [sneak/traps] to weaken them +2 CiSP
11) now, you could send in your berserk friends which would kill all (including themselves) but two 10hp boatsmen, but imo just kill the rest yourself with Aziz and Lucius
12) Either way, +2 CoSP, +18 SP, +1 Thieves Guild Rep and 200 gold
13) loot them (don’t forget the three killed by the bomb inside the hovel)
14) Talking to Levir, we find out the money was taken – and we will should kill Gaelius for it!
15) Talk to Levir again, say you are ready to talk to Cyrus
16) Follow the dialogue, tell him “I don’t think i can pass for a palace guard”: Impersonate +1 (4->5)
17) But don’t engage yet

22/82/13

Arena Champion

Lets continue the Arena questline for now, lets prepare

22/82/13
Raise crossbow 4->5, Crafting 7->8
2/65/0

Sell your old chest piece and craft a masterwork, lightened & reinforced ordu lamellar armor (to finally have full 10AP), iron or steel
Craft 2 hand crossbows & 2+ heavy sniper crossbows

Fight vs. 3 Barbari
Pretty straight forward fight, sniper shots with scoped crossbows have a high crit chance (use poisoned barbed arrows – don’t waste strong poison here!)
Round1) The one to the left has a poison weapon, so sniper shot him first, drop crossbow to inventory
Round2) Get 2nd sniper crossbow from inventory, if yout crit-shoot left barbari, shoot the one the right (center barbari will already adjacent)
Round3+) Reload to finish off remaining barbari
+3 CoSP, +100 imperials, loot

5/65/0

Fight vs. Nicander (Long Spear+Nets)
Easy fight, a single critical sniper shots (+ poison DOT) will drop him (if non-crit, switch to 2nd sniper crossbow)
+3 CoSP, +100 imperials, loot (including unique trident “Pax Deorum2)

Fight vs. Bendidoros / Tiresias
Bendidoros is hard to hit, with tons of hp and high CON (only takes 2hp from your 4hp poison). Straight on this fight might require
a reload. If you have problems: throw a net, followed by a sniper shot (note: requires armor with 10+ max AP).
+3 CoSP, +1 Combat Experience, +100 imperials, loot (including unique sword “The Bringer of Storms”

11/65/0

Fight vs. Sarpedon
Sarpedon is tough. He has high HP, good block rating and very good resistance to critical hits. Even worse, he has an antidote so we cannot poison him!
So make sure to pack 2 bombs and a few nets for backup
Ideal fight is a bomb knockdown followed by hit&crit or sincle crit sniper shot:
Round 1) Delay. Sarpedon throws missile and approaches. Throw bomb and crit (only 25% chance!), followed by sniper shot (30% crit chance)
Round 2) Sniper shot (~30 crit chance) & kill
However, if unlucky you might need to repeat those steps, and if you din’t crit with either bomb might even need to finish him off
with nets & snipe with regular bolts.
+3 CoSP, +100 imperials, loot
14/65/0

Fight vs. Ordu
This figth is easy in comparison, no special resources are needed:
Simply shoot sniper shots at the melee guy, poison is weakened but working. Then shoot sniper shots at the archer.
+4 CoSP, +1 combat reputation, Arena rank: Executioner, +150 imperials, loot
18/65/0

Figth vs. The Butcher
The butcher hits like a truck. Fortunately, he doesn’t have good poison resistance, is easy to hit and crit. A few poisoned barbed sniper shots
should kill him off. He only wears auxillary armor, so hand crossbows might also help to kill him in time.
round 1: Sniper shot 6AP, Switch sniper crosbows 4AP,
round 2: Sniper shot 6AP, hand crossbow1 2AP, hand crossbow2 2AP
+4 CoSP, +1 Combat experience, +250 imperials, loot
22/65/0

Fight vs. Mack the Knife
Mack the Knife is really deadly close up, will net you and crit you like there is no tomorrow. He has ok dodge and no crit resistance, as well
as no poison resistance. Strategy: Sniper shoot him with barbed poisoned bolt – almost guaranteed crit, then run away -> poison should finish him off.
+4 CoSP, +250 imperials, loot

26/65/0
Raise Crossbow 5->6
6/65/0

Fight vs. Triari
The Triari are 3 heavy armored – and far worse, two of them are also using heaviy shields. For the first guy, regular sniper shot with barbed+poison work, but the latter
two need special tactics. Specifically, we are useing the extremely potent poison (6hp/7rounds) intended for Gaelius. Note: if you intend to kill Gaelius AND solve that quest
by using poison, you will have to use regular self-made poison instead. This will make this fight a lot harder, so you might want to use a bomb in this case.
Since applying the poison is more important than doing heavy initial damage, i would recommend to use it on steel piercing arrows. Since the poison will still need time,
i’d recommend to make a few fire bombs and bring a bomb to be safe.
Tactics: Open with a shot at the central guy, then retreat to a corner while trying to poison one or both of the other triari
In the corner, apply fire bomb to be safe for, apply poison if they are not yet poisoned, otherwise shoot them with regular bolts
Refresh fire bomb as necessary to keep them at a distance. 3-4 fire bombs should be enough.
+5 CoSP, +1 Combat experience, +300 imperials, excellent loot (if not enough carrying capacity, focus on steel stuff, maybe even decompose)

Figth vs. Al Sahir, the Arena Champion
This fight is really really tough. So lets fight dirty
Option 1 requires reloads and/or higher crit chance, but only 2 bombs:
round 1: shoot and crit(!) Al Sahir, drink neurostimulant (+2 AP), wait (Al Sahir Approaches), use Nets
round 2: Al Sahir frees himself of net, and nets you (-6 AP), use 2 bombs (6 AP, we had 12 due to stimulant) to kill him off

Option 2 (safe, but requires 4( bombs):
round 1: drink neurostimulant, wait (Al Sahir Approaches), use 2 bombs, use Net
round 2: Al Sahir frees himself of net, and nets you (-6 AP), use 2 bombs (6 AP, we had 12 due to stimulant) to kill him off

+5 CoSP, +1 combat reputation, +1 prestige, Rank: Arena Champion, +400 imperials, amazing loot (all blue steel, including the unique armor “The Blue Cuirass”)

16/65/0

With so much blue steel, we are able to do a nice armor and arms upgrade. You don’t need to decompose any unique weapons or armor (like “The Blue Cuirass” or “Warrior Crown”).
I created a blue steel jambia (masterwork, balanced, serrated edge)
blue steel llamelar ordu armor (masterwork, lightened, , reinforced)
blue steel attic helmet (masterwork, hardened, reinforced)

Ameolas Village, Part II

Aemolas Village, Part II

2) [crossbow] shoot first
3) [crossbow] shoot second
4) [crossbow] shoot third
5) [crossbow] shoot forth + missile

+4 CoSP, +1 combat training, tons of loot (decompose weapons & armor and create expensive gear to sell)

Militandes and more thievery

With all the arena fight and selling off loot, you should have enough money (i had 6500 imperials) to buy the remaining
unique items at the merchants:
Arena Merchant has Zagos Armor, trading for 800 imperials (+1 CiSP).
Armor merchant at the emporium has “Honor Bound”, a blue steel armor for 3000 imperials (+1 CiSP)
(all those items are worse than self-crafted, but we want a full collection)

While we are there, let’s steal from the remaining merchants

20/65/2
Steal 5->6
20/47/0

The Alchemy Trader: Neurostimulant 3AP/2turns, healing salves, +1 CiSP
Merchant at Blacksmith’s building: Steel gladius, +1 CiSP

Slums
Lets finally checck out Militandes. Go to the Slums and straight ahead to trigger
the cutscene we were avoiding so far.
a) free Militandes by telling them you are a thief
b) fight them for +2 CoSP, loot but also -5(!) rep 40 Thieves

If you plan to betray the thieves anyway for gaelius, pick option b) – otherwise pick a)

Militades quest:
Kill Lord Varus (and Sons) – they are unarmored, should be easy.
+2 CoSP, +6 SP, +2104 imperials

Return to the inn at the city gates.

22(24)/53/2
Raise Traps & Lockpick+1
22(24)/15/0

Disarm the trap on the 2nd floor and open the chest for +2 CiSP, rubies, emeralds, diamonds and a mineb

Praetor or Thief? (WIP)

Time for a huge decision: Do you want to stay loyal to the thieves guild, or do you want to switch sides, tell Gaelius about assassins and become an Aurelian Praetor?

The Praetor gets access to some unique locations and interesting options, and can get some more intersting loot. I prefer this option.

But continuing the thief questline also is quite interesting. The assassination mission is great, and the thief questline in Ganezzar is also interesting including an unique area not available to any other guild.

I would recommend a hard save.

The guide is incomplete, i hope i will finish the remaining parts for Maadoran soon. Decided to already post it here since two players requested the notes…
