DFO Beginner’s Guide

Overview

Are you a new Adventurer looking for information on game play basics? Look no further!

Interface

Let’s take a look at the Interface!

Menu Selection Window (ESC)

  • Settings: Change your Graphics, Sound, and System settings.
  • DFOpedia: Search up any item that exists in DFO, and where it can be obtained.
  • Quest Book (F1): Look at all quests that can be accepted, or are currently in progression.

Basic Features

  • Fatigue Points: Points required in order to enter a dungeon. One dungeon room requires 1 FP. Fatigue is replenished daily at 9AM UTC/GMT, and can also be replenished with the item ‘Fatigue Recovery Potion’.
  • Event Calendar: Check the schedule of on-going events.
  • Mailbox: View received items and send items.
  • Safe: Accessed in Seria’s room. Store additional items in your inventory.
  • Account Vault: Accessed in Seria’s room and unlocked at level 60. Items stored in the vault can be accessed across all characters in your account, making transferring items easier.

Avatar Inventory (U)
Inventory for avatars which are equipable items that change the appearance of your character, in addition to providing additional stats. You can buy different Avatars in the CERA shop.

Creature Inventory (F6)
Inventory for items related to Creatures, which are like pets that follow you around and grant additional stats.

Skill Window (K)
Learn Skills and register hotkeys for your character.

Tutorial Dungeon

You will enter the Tutorial Dungeon when you create a new character.

  • Use the arrow keys to move around.
  • Use X and Z keys to use skills and perform combos.
  • Use X near an item to pick it up.
  • Pressing I will bring up your inventory. Right click on an item to use or equip it.

You may choose to exit the Tutorial Dungeon by pressing (ESC) and moving back into town.

Gameplay Basics

When opening equipment boxes, make sure you choose the right equipment for your class. New or returning DFO players will receive a ‘Growing Unique Weapon Box’ which provides a weapon that adjusts to the level of your character.

Disassembler

  • The disassembler will disassemble any equipment items for materials.
  • Materials acquired by disassembling can be check by bringing up the Inventory (I).
  • Souls and Cubes are items that are shared across all characters within the same account.
  • Make sure to disassemble or sell any items you don’t need so that you have sufficient funds and materials for future quests.

Skill Window (K)

  • Look at all skills that you can currently learn.
  • You can reset your skill points and use them on different skills at any time.
  • Place the desired skill of your choice on Hotkey slots.

Quest Book (F2)

  • Look at all quests that are available and in progress.
  • Follow Epic quest scenario dungeons for quick leveling and to follow the base story line.
  • Quests that are activated will show up in the map with arrows in town.

Daily Challenge

  • Daily challenges are missions that are reset every day. They are automatically activated, so make sure you receive your additional rewards for completing these missions.

Class Advancement

At level 15 you can advance to your subclass.

  • Get the system quest ‘Time to Advance’ and complete it by talking to NPC Vetala.
  • Clear the required dungeon in order to clear your Class Advancement quest.
  • Each class has different subclasses which use different skills, so make sure you know which one you want!
  • In your Skill Window (K), you can choose to change your subclass by pressing the top left corner [Change Subclass] button. The first change is free, however further changes will cost additional gold.

Dimensional Seal Quests

Dimensional Seal Quests

  • You can check Dimensional Seals in your Quest Book (F2).
  • Dimensional Seal quests give additional stats to a character.
  • They can be obtained by completing Special Dungeon related quests.

Profession

Profession

  • At level 20 you can choose a profession by talking to NPC Abello
  • Alchemist: Creates special potions
  • Disassembler: Disassembles items for materials
  • Animator: Creates APCs that can be used in dungeons
  • Enchanter: Enchants equipment using monster cards

Basic Leveling

Basic Leveling

  • For basic leveling in DFO, follow any Epic Quests shown in your Quest Book (F2).
  • These quests unlock content and areas that will progress the main story.

First Awakening

First Awakening
When your character reaches level 50, you can complete your First Awakening by doing two quests.

The first part of the quest requires the following materials:

  • White cube fragment (x1000)
  • Red cube fragment (x1000)
  • Superior iron (x100)
  • Superior hardener (x100)
  • You can get cube fragments by disassembling equipment.
  • Superior materials can be crafted with basic materials and gold by using the crafting function with NPC Roger Levin in Underfoot area.

The second part of the quest requires the following:

  • Clear 30 floors of the Tower of the Dead
  • Formidable Essence (x10) – Will drop in the Tower of the Dead while on the quest
  • Chaos Stone Debris (x60)
  • Seal of Emperor Helm (x120)
  • Seal of Empress Skardi (x80)

If you do not have any materials, you can by them by searching in the Auction House

Sub Equipment and Magic Stone

Sub-Equipment

  • At level 60, you can unlock this additional equipment slot.
  • Talk to NPC Iris in Underfoot to get the quest.
  • Defeat the Martel Brothers in the Midnight Assault dungeon on Expert or higher level difficulty

Sub-Equipment Requires the following Materials:

  • Gold (300K)
  • Black cube fragment (x1000)
  • Blue cube fragment (x1000)
  • Nihilistic demon stone (x40)

Magic Stone

  • At level 65, you can unlock this additional equipment slot.
  • Talk to NPC Iris in Underfoot to get the quest.
  • Defeat Admiral Von Beornan in the Runaway West-Bound dungeon on Expert or higher level difficulty

Magic Stone Requires the following Materials:

  • Gold (800K)
  • White cube fragment (x1000)
  • Red cube fragment (x1000)
  • Nihilistic demon stone (x60)

Tips for related Materials
NPC Seria can convert 5 clear cube fragments to 1 colored fragment of your choice
NPC Sharan can convert 10 fragments to 1 Nihilistic Demon Stone
