Essential xcom2 WoTC mods or how to transform the game

Overview

Theis guide proposes a description of the most important mod groups for transforming x com2 WoTC.This may be relevant for those who decide to return to xcom2. The community creates mods that can actually bring the game to near perfection. In fact, we are already talking about the author’s assembly of mods, which can significantly improve the gameplay.I wanted to share my vision of the game with mods, without which I cannot imagine xcom2

Essential for those who want to play with a large number of mods

First of all, it is imperative to have every dlc except for cosmetic ones. You do not have to think about the fact that some mods may require a specific addition.

My experience shows that it is necessary to use an alternative launcher for x com2, as it will allow you to see mod conflicts or missing necessary components.

It is important to understand that a large number of mods from different authors are likely to lead to the following almost inevitable consequences:

1. Frequent and sudden crashes of the game.
It is important to know that x com2 generates very heavy log files during crashes and is able to eat away tens of gigabytes. It creates them here: C: Users User Documents My Games XCOM2 Warof the Chosen XComGame

2. Some missions may be impassable due to new map bugs

3. Sometimes there can be an endless loading of the mission

A group of mods for the third force in battle

The game becomes much more difficult and interesting if you add the ability to appear in missions for one or more independent groups that are hostile to everyone.

For example, a situation may arise when in a difficult mission Advent will be under crossfire, and an independent group will come out to its flank. In this case, it will be much easier for you, you can even wait until they weaken each other and intervene. This is a bit like the old Fallout games. But even in a simple mission, it may turn out that such a group will come to your rear, then it will already be very difficult for you.

I use such mods:

Raider Faction: Phantoms
Raider Faction: Marauders
Raider Faction: Bandits
Raider Faction: Cult of Jariah
[WOTC] Raider Faction: Terminus Mercenaries
Dark Eldar Raiders Faction
Raider Faction: Heretic Geth
Raider Faction: Chaos Insurgency
Raider Faction: Global Occult Coalition
[WOTC] Raider Faction: Cerberus
[WOTC] Raider Faction: Reapers & Collectors
Resistance Heroes Incursion

These groups can accidentally be added to the mission under the terms of the SITREP system.
Some of them (if the necessary additional mods are installed) can appear as SHIV machines and even with their own sectopod.

The Raider Faction Bases mod adds bases to these groups, which can be further assaulted

It is important to note that there is also the Allies Unknown Redux: The Liberated mod, which adds a faction precisely in the strategy game, when you can take tasks from them

A group of mods for the ability to use aliens in your team

I know that many fans avoid these mods and don’t want to see newcomers in their command. It’s strange that they are not ashamed to use intercessors in the game, although they are not people.

I disagree. I am convinced that the aliens can be used as follows:

1. as a bioweapon (this was the case in Long war, when almost any alien could be revived from corpses), that is, to beat Advent with their own weapon;
2. rescue renegade aliens from their Advent prisons;
3.hire free aliens to fight Advent

Here in WoTC the main mods are: Playable XCOM 2 Aliens

You can put another group of mods that will bring x com2 closer to “Star Wars” in the sense that it will be possible to hire many races:
Allies Unknown: War of the Chosen Edition
Allies Unknown Redux Species: Asari
Allies Unknown Redux Species: Sangheili
Allies Unknown Redux Species: Turians
Allies Unknown Redux Species: Quarians
Allies Unknown Species Redux: Krogans
Allies Unknown Redux Species: Salarians

Mods for a significant change in gameplay

Next, I will comment on each item separately.

1. Ability to expand the team up to 8 soldiers.

The following mods will be needed:
WotC: robojumper’s Squad Select
More Squad Size Upgrades – WotC

The first makes it possible to conveniently select soldiers, which is necessary for a game format with more than 6 soldiers.
The second allows you to buy slots for soldiers in the partisan school – up to 8 soldiers. Terms of purchase can be configured in the main menu, where there are mod options.

2. Ability to take out the bodies of enemies.
This was critical in Long war 2, but here in WoTC it is also important to be able to take out almost any alien in the same way as you take out a wounded one.

This is the Extract Corpses WOTC mod

3. Ability to remove the rigid sequence of actions and allow codes and avatars to appear in missions by themselves.

Unrestricted Codex Spawning Mod

At first I doubted whether he would break the games at all, but no, you are just free in your actions and now you should not watch the Advent commander, although you can still hack him and call the codex.

4. Possibility of the appearance of enemies from DLS just in any mission

All Aliens In Almost All Missions WOTC
Diverse Alien Pods WOTC
All DLC Enemies In All Missions WOTC

You can meet underdeveloped wipers in the early game and kamikaze robots

5. New classes of soldjers.

I use almost every possible one, there are already about 50 of them. For example, the Burnout class gives a psi soldier right away.

Mods for new equipment

Next, I will comment on the most important mods for equipment, without which it is no longer interesting to play.

1. [WotC] Tank Mod

My favorite is this mod, which adds the ability to build a powerful and expensive tank. For balance, it overheats from time to time and turns off 🙂

2. [WotC] CX UA 571-C Automated Sentry Gun

A pocket-sized disposable turret that can both save lives on a challenging mission and provide protection in defense.

3. [WOTC] Celatid Alien

When examining the corpse of this enemy, you can get technology that will allow you to build a pocket turret, which can be controlled and it is restored in the next battle, if only the soldier is not killed (and you cannot carry his body) and only then it will disappear forever.

4. [WotC] S.H.I.V. Mod

You can build this car for nostalgia for x com1 🙂

5. MEC Troopers

Likewise, it will be possible to turn your soldiers into MEKs, like in xcom1.

6. Buildable Geth Redux, Allies Unknown Redux: Buildable HK Droids, [WOTC] Call of Duty: Black Ops III: E.W.R.-115 ‘Reaper’ Squadmate

These mods diversify the game with the ability to build new robots for yourself, some of them are like Spark.

The most important technical mods

1. Instant Avenger Menus –WoTC
Removes unnecessary animation when moving between ship compartments. Important for weak computers

2.No Reveal Cinematics
Disables animation when a new pack of enemies is detected. This is especially effective if you are tired of seeing vile wanderers up close every time they reappear.

3. Remove Missing Mods for WotC
Removes the warning about missing mods before loading the game, unlinks the disconnected mods from a specific game /

Conclusion

Of course, you can create another assembly as well. X com2 is so attractive that everyone can customize it with mods to suit their style of play.

I wanted to share my vision of the most important mods for me, without which xcom2 can no longer be imagined.

A general list of mods (I have more than 300) will be published periodically here:

Obviously, mods can significantly change the balance of the game.

Because of them, I can no longer go through the campaign, and I always play on the terminator and very aggressively, not reckoning with losses.

The balance can be adjusted with mods. For example, I recently tested the RenegadeRulers mod, which makes rulers and their minions hostile to everyone. This should make the game easier.

I will be glad to meet everyone who is interested in playing xcom2 with mods 🙂
