Overview
This guide is dedicated to a map where there is a flyable helicopter, called room20. Took me a long time to practice it while i was making the map. Gonna post this for those who do not know how to fly the chopper properly (every one but me).
-How to gain the pilot control
Jump in by the left side of the chopper, first row of seat.
Then a text “You are the pilot” will show on your screen (something like that, may be changed later)
-Control inputs:
W: chopper nose pitches down
S: chopper nose pitches up
A: chopper nose turns left, with slight tilting of the chopper body in anti-clockwise manner (right half pitches up).
D: chopper nose turns right, with slight tilting of the chopper body in clockwise manner (left half pitches up).
Left mouse: hold down to propel the chopper (perpendicualr to the chopper’s angle), release to disable the effect.
Right mouse: overall balancing factor, if the chopper is losing balance, this input will help you slightly gainning back the angle, eventually the chopper will be resumed in upright position. Similar to the propel input, hold down to keep the balancing effect, release to disable it.
-Compound inputs for different flight tasks:
Even by knowing the controls isn’t enough, most people still end up like this xD
Yes, flying the chopper is hard. Because why not, lets make nmrih even harder.
A lot of things are beyond words, the only tips I could think of are these:
Lift off / hover: make sure the chopper is UPRIGHT, then hold mouse1 to propel the chopper. So the vertical force will be lifting the heli straight up, instead of moving it side to side. If the chopper is not upright however, the vertical force (relative to the chopper) will cause horizontal force (relative to the world) and push the chopper away. The longer you try to propel up, the further aside the chopper will go.
Fly forward / slow down backward speed: ‘W’ to pitch down the chopper nose (not too much), propel the chopper by holding down mouse1.
Fly backward / slow down forward speed: ‘S’ to pitch up the chopper nose (don’t over-do this), propel the chopper by holding down mouse1.
Turning left: ‘A’ to turn the chopper nose left, ‘D’ to slow/stop the rotation, mouse2 for post-balancing to ensure your chopper is balanced after the rotation task. (Better not to propel during the process, because the chopper is most likely unbalanced while rotating due to the tilting effect. And propelling + unbalanced = chopper going side way = hitting a seagull or something and crashing your chopper)
Turning right: ‘D’ to turn the chopper nose right, ‘A’ to slow/stop the rotation, mouse2 for post-balancing to ensure your chopper is balanced after the rotation task. (Better not to propel during the process, because the chopper is most likely unbalanced while rotating due to the tilting effect. And propelling + unbalanced = chopper going side way = hitting a flying Merzarime or something and your chopper getting knocked down)
Rocket launcher: nononono, you are the pilot. You can’t use it.
Machinegun: nooooooo, you are the pilot. Focus on the flight.
Think physics and have a good flight~
