Server Related Issues: Part 1

(Q) I can only see one or no Servers in game or see the “Ping too High message” (while in Game).

(A) Change the Steam ping settings from Automatic (5000) to 250 (the Lower) to show all servers again.

(Q) I keep getting the “Host closed the Connection” message.

(A) If you are having server connection issues can you try the steps in these links here:

Troubleshooting Network Connectivity: [link]
Clear download cache – [link]
Flush your DNS Cache – [link]
Steps to open Ports – [link]
Can you please ensure your NAT (Network Address Translation) is set to Open or Moderate? You will need to contact your ISP or router manufacturer for information on how to perform these steps.

Can you also make sure you check your Steam download region as well.

(Q) I keep getting the “No Compatible Servers Found” error in-game.

(A) For the ones that ran into the “No Compatible Servers Found” error, Have you tried the Steam Ping Fix from above? If so, could you check out the Team 17 Support post in Steam about the new Fix, and also to receive a more on-topic level of support. [link]

Another solution is to try to switch your Ethernet port on your PC from On-Board to Ethernet Card, or vice-versa. Or try to switch to WiFi/Ethernet and vice-versa and restart the game.

(Q) I cannot connect to any Server. When I try to connect to one of the Servers, the game crashes systematically. The game could also give a kick because “ping too high”.

(A) From “[1AD]ZukoEU”: Please reinstall or move Hell Let Loose to the default C:/Program Files/HLL destination. Also make sure that you are only using one version of Visual Studio. Visual Studio 2015 and Visual Studio 2017 can not be on the machine at the same time. Some programs for whatever reason when installed to a different drive than the default C:/ one can not create folders or download required files for the game to run properly with no errors. Visual Studio contains useful libraries essential for a game. Make sure ALL your drivers are Up-To-Date, this so you do not have to worry about these things.

(Q) I am getting kicked for High Ping, or I get High Ping spikes.

(A) From “Steam – <Red-Cross> Arab Assasian”: Possible fix for High Ping spikes/Ping Kick, for those with Nvidia cards, “Nvidia Web Service Helper” was using 8MB/s of network usage (40x increase), when I started to get lag (couldnt throw a nade) I opened up Task Manager, I closed the Helper and the Ping went back to normal and I didnt get kicked. I have not been kicked for Ping since I started doing this when I get Ping spikes.

(Q) I can not connect to, or find any server, or I get kicked for high ping.

(A) Please temporarily disable your current Anti-Virus and add the Hell Let Loose Shipping .exe file to your Firewall and the Anti-Virus Exclusion list. Webroot has been reported to block Hell Let Loose, please uninstall or disable this before playing.

WARNING: Anti-Virus software is very important, please do have any Anti-Virus program installed, but do check Discord, Forums and Steam about which programs block Hell Let Loose and which not.

(Q) I keep on seeing the “No compatible servers found, please try again…” message.

(A) From “Discord – MieuwPieuw”: In the Windows Control Panel, go to Network and Internet, press on Network and Sharing Centre. Press the Change Adapter Settings button, and RMB on the network you are currently using, this could be Ethernet or WiFi and press Properties. In the following window, disable the IPV6 checkbox and press OK to save the changes, restart your laptop/desktop and then have an amazing time playing Hell Let Loose!

(Q) When Steam installed a game Update, the server list turns into a black screen. Tabbing out of the window shows the available servers, but tabbing back make the servers disappear immediately.

(A) From “Discord – Plexus”: Please delete the Settings Folder and Update your GPU drivers. This should fix the issue right away.

(Q) I can not see all the servers in-game, or I keep getting the “No compatible servers found, please try again…” message.

(A) From “Discord – [1AD]ZukoEU”: This may or not work for all, but Steam has a cool setting that allows you to change your location (No VPN).

Launch Steam – At the upper left corner go to Steam – Settings (a windows will pop). Go to Downloads and change your Download Region to EU, US or RU (you should choose a country that’s closest to your location). Give it a try and hopefully you will see more servers popping.

Server Related Issues: Part 2

(Q) I am having a trouble launching the game or finding any servers.

(A) From “Discord – [1AD]ZukoEU#8327”:

1) Re-Install / Repair the EAC install

Navigate to the “Easy Anti-Cheat” folder default folder should be C:Program Files(x86)SteamsteamappscommonHell Let Loose’EasyAntiCheat
Inside you will find the installer for EAC ( run it as administrator ) and select Hell Let Loose as your game. Or you could Uninstall EAC – Verify game integrity ( right click on HLL , go to properties , verify integrity ) and then re-install it again.

2 ) Delete your Hell Let Loose Appdata folder . There is a posibility that your config file may be corrupt and that’s what blocking the game from loading. Go to windows search bar type %localappdata% or %appdata% find the HLL folder – Saved – Config file (Delete it / Make sure that you will “Empty Recycle Bin”). Then start the game again via steam right click – properties – Local Files tab – Verify Integrity of game files (it will probably take a while depending on your internet connection). Want to make it clear that when you will delete your Config file every video and gameplay setting will be restored to default. So if you have any specific in game setting for ADS or General Sensitivity make sure to create a txt with the exact values.
– – –
3) Won’t probably do much but flush dns has helped me in the past so why not give it a try.
Open Command Prompt – again go to windows search bar type cmd , Right Click and Run As Administrator then type this command: netsh winsock reset
A message will pop telling you to restart your pc to apply the changes, then type: ipconfig/flushdns, and then restart your pc.

4) Increase your Windows Page File: [link]
I don’t really know much about virtual memory pagefile so it’s up to you if you wanna do it or not.

5) And last but not least a clean install of Windows 10 would probably solve all of the issues you are currently facing.

(Q) I am not able to find any servers.

(A) From “Discord – [1AD]ZukoEU#8327”:

We are going to talk about port forwarding , how to find programs PID and how to create a port forward rule. Start HLL then Alt Tab press Left Ctrl + Shift + Esc (Task Manager will pop) – Go to Details – Click on PID twice and make sure that you can see HLL and HLL Win 64 as well. Save the PID numbers somewhere and let’s move on to the next part.

Now what you want to do is go to Windows Search Bar – Type CMD (Right Click and Run As Administrator). Don’t Freak Out, it’s just a friendly Black Box that can potentially help you fix your issue. Type: – netstat /a /n /o | find “PID for HLL”

And once again: netstat /a /n /o | find “PID for HLL-Win64”. You should see TCP (That’s not the actual TCP it’s just an example 192.192.0.0 : 10000 That’s the port we are going to use later on). Numbers and (status of our Application) ESTABLISHED (could be Listening – Time_Wait or Close_Wait).

Now that you know what’s your TCP for HLL and HLL-Win64 go to the Windows Search Bar and type Windows Defender Firewall With Advanced Security. A new window will appear. Go to Inbound Rules – Right Side of the screen you should see a setting called New Rule… Click on New Rule (new window will appear) – Choose Port click Next – New window will appear Don’t Change anything and add the TCP ports from HLL and HLL-Win64.

EXAMPLE:
Specified Local Ports : 10000 – 10500 (use TCP ports of HLL and HLL-Win64)

Click Next – Choose Allow The Connection – Then Check all 3
(Domain – Private – Public) – Next enter a Desired Name for your Rule and that should hopefully fix the issue for you.

(Q) My Ping is quite high when trying to connect to a EU Server.

(A) From “Discord – Ra1nbowXD”: If you have the correct VPN set-up, you get better ping. Some VPN can shorten the path of your connection, hence lower ping. The Chinese do gets 120-140 from China with VPN, and 400+ without VPN connecting to EU Servers.

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

(Q) I keep getting the “Lost Connection to Host” message.

(A) If you are having this issue, please make sure you install Hell Let Loose on a faster hard drive. Various players reported installing Hell Let Loose on at least an SSD or even a NVMe drive solved this issue. Before you try this, make sure you tried the above “AntiVirus Exception List” solution and even the “Direct VPN” solution.

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

(Q) I keep seeing rubberbanding happening in a match, but only on specific servers and not related to any specific map or reported maintenance or downtime, what can I do?

(A) Please ask the Server Admins to contact the Host and ask for a reboot of the Physical Host Machine. This should clear up most of the issues, giving the Servers a chance to clear up, flush any pending data and cool down for a second.

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

(Q) I keep getting the “No Compatible Servers Found” error in-game.

(A) From Discord member: “Conan the Librarian”: I had to run HLL.exe as administrator and EAC as not administrator. This fixed my issues.

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

(Q) I keep getting the “Lost Connection to Host” error message.

(A) This might not work for all of you but I assume it might work for a good few of you having the lost connection to host problem.

So what you want to do is go to control panel then click network and internet then click network and sharing centre.

Then under where it says access type it will say connections and next to that it will tell you what Ethernet cable or WiFi you are using click on it.

Go to properties find internet Protocol version 6 and un check it then press ok and test your game

Server Related Issues: Part 3

(Q) I can not seem to connect to any servers.

(A) Try playing the game through a Ethernet Cable, or if you are connected to a 5GHz band, try switching to a 2.4GHz band. Players have reported that this fixed the issue for them.

(Q) I keep getting the EXCEPTION ACCESS VIOLATION crashes, what can I do? I looked into all above posted solutions.

(A) From Discord “ZukoEU”: Unfortunately we can’t tell for sure what causes them. There are a few things that you can try to help you identify the problem:

1): Make sure you have everything up to date (graphics, network, sound drivers, etc.) including the latest WIndows 10 Update Packages.

1a): To check your WIndows 10 Version, type at the Windows search bar: “Winver” ( Latest Version should be “Version 2004 OS Build 19041.508 “).

2): Sometimes an outdated/old BIOS Version could affect the in game performance, so please make sure that you have the latest BIOS update installed.

2a): This video will help you: .

3): After you have made sure that everything is updated and running properly it’s time to test the Hardware.

3a): Memtest86 (MemTest[www.memtest86.com]). Let the program run for at least one full pass. If the memtest86 shows any errors then you will have to check your RAM sticks, first make sure that they have been installed correctly and then test each RAM separately until you find the faulty one.

3b): Furmark (FurMark[geeks3d.com]). Run the test for at least 10 minutes make sure that there are not any crashes/freezes. Check the temperatures as well while the program is running.

(A³) Another solution reported by “[BLB]Genome {GC}” is to update your Audio Driver (Realtek, On-Board, External, USB, etc.). This should also fix this issue.

Game (Crash/Screen) Issues: Part 2

(Q) I keep in getting the “Lost Connection to Host” message. What can I do to possibly fix this?

(A) From – Discord Zuko and Apples: Any HDD with less than 7200 rpm will result to ” Lost Connection to host ” issues. Try to lower your Page File in Windows.

Best is to play from a SSD or NVMe.

(Q) I keep getting a PAK CHUNCK error.

(A) From member: 7-CLOWN-7 Anyone that gets a PAK CHUNK error these are resolved 99.9% of the time just by Verifying your game files in Steam. For Visual Studio C++ errors can easily be resolved by using an AIO installer like this. This covers every known version and is perfectly safe and I’ve used for years and they update frequently. here[www.techpowerup.com].

For D3D errors this is 99.9% due to using the -dx12 option in your Steam game launch options. Do NOT overclock anything. Use Windows 10. Have fully patched. Have all the latest drivers. No need for 3rd party firewall or anti-virus software (Windows Defender) is more than enough. Be sure to have your Windows Firewalls shut off as well here[www.techpowerup.com].

I’ve said it before it covers all VC++ – It will make sure any system has all that are required usually by any and all applications. Period. Just run the install.bat file as administrator and follow the prompts. It may say already installed just move along till completed. Then reboot and all should be right in the world.

(Q) I can not get the Display Resolution to work correctly, my mouse can not reach certain buttons.

(A) First, Hold ‘Alt’ and press ‘Enter’ to move to full-screen (Command+Enter in Mac/Nvidia Now). Then you can readjust your resolutions settings. If this did not work, try the following: In your Window Explorer type %LOCALAPPDATA% in what is basically the “url” bar or go to

C:Users<You User Name>AppDataLocalHLL, or it could be in C:Users<UserName>AppDataLocalApplication DataHLLSavedConfigWindowsNoEditor. (You might have to display hidden files and folders…)

Then Adjust or Delete the the “GameUserSettings.ini” file and restart Hell Let Loose. If this does not work, Delete the entire HLL folder.

8. Save the file
9. Boot up Hell Let Loose

Appdata may not be visible for everyone. You may need to make it visible via accessing the ‘show hidden files and folders’ option on your pc.
The layout of where to paste the codes are important.
Game cannot be running while doing this as when it closes properly it will revert.
If the folder directory is different, it’s still the same principle with a different starting letter.

(Q) I can not get the game to pass Easy Anti Cheat. EAC is coming up with error ‘30007’.

(A) If you’re experiencing the ‘Easy Anti Cheat – 30007 error’, then most probably the Driver Signature Enforcement (DSE) service is disabled in your system, however this service is necessary for the Easy Anti-Cheat system. DSE is a security mechanism for 64-bit versions of Windows (forcibly checks the program signing certificates for all loadable kernel mode drivers). In order to enable this service, follow the instruction below:

Press the Start (Windows) button.
Type “cmd” in the search or Run box, RMB on the CMD program and click “Run as Administrator” or simply press “Enter”

In the command prompt enter these lines:
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF , press “Enter”

bcdedit -set NOINTEGRITYCHECKS OFF , press “Enter”
Reboot your PC in order to apply the changes.

Note: Also, make sure your PC is not booted in ‘Safe Mode’.

(Q) I am getting the following errors: 0xc000007b or 0xc0000142.

(A) You will need to fix your .Net Framework on Windows 10. If the .net framework application is corrupted or not working correctly and it shows error while install software like office and other applications this tutorial could help you.

Since .Net Framework is integrated in Windows 10 you can not uninstall it or repair like you did in the Windows 8 and Windows 7 in the Control Panel, so the simplest way is to download a tool to Update it by Windows default Update Tool.

Please watch the following video to know more:

(Q) The game keeps freezing and or crashing.

(A) It is most likely because Steam is wrongly updating/changing the game-files after an Update or Patch. Please look in the Discord Tech-Support Channel and look for the full reinstall steps.

After this, revert your Nvidia drivers to an older version and disable Game Analytics in the in-game options… Those should make the game run more stable. Also do a Drive Diskcheck/PC Healthcheck and move your game to an SSD rather then a HDD.

(A) Most likely this is happening on multi-GPU setups with SLI (and possibly CrossFire) enabled. Please disable SLI entirely or try to disable this per app/game.

Before disabling SLI, check out the Motherboard its manual and see if you need to take other steps first, this because disabling or re-enabling SLI might be a difficult step and could lead to serious issues with your machine. Also, make sure you are running the latest Drivers.

(Q) My VOIP/Voice does not work but I do have a Creative®️ audio device.

(A) From “Discord – Porter”: Thought I would report back as I got my in-game voice fixed and it was something else than what posted on the Forums. Apparently, the latest Windows Insider builds install a driver for Creative X-Fi that causes this. When installing the LATEST driver straight from Creative®️, it fixed the problem straight away.

(Q) My VOIP still does not work, even after trying all posted fixes.

(A) From HLL Reddit Member Accident-Bubbly: I ditched all the individual ports and put a range in for the game (originally the range was 27000-30000 but that wasn’t enough. Edit 3: dropped initial port to 12000 and maxed 32000 as there was a UDP packet at 13950 this morning. A Vivox post below suggested 12K – 32K):

UDP: 12000 – 32000
UDP: 4350 – 4400

20K ports is a fair old range, and now edges Discord with 13,500 ports.

FPS and Performance Issues: Part 1

(Q) My FPS is dropping slowly in or throughout a game (reported in the Steam Discussions).

(A) The new Corsair Wireless headsets program “CUE Software” is creating the Low FPS problem, when you close this program, the problems are solved.

(Q) My FPS is suddenly very low and games are not working well.

(A) This is unconfirmed, but some players reported that the latest Nvidia drivers were not working nicely with games, so they reverted back fo a previous driver, some even a few weeks or months ago. That solved drops or low FPS issues. Might work… might not, but it is worth a try.

(Q) My framerate is a bit on the lower side on a machine with lower specs.

(A) A community member in Reddit reported that closing some known apps and programs in the Task Manager freed up his RAM from 99% usage to 37%. This gave his PC more free RAM in order to have Hell Let Loose being able to run better.

Small note: Please do open up Task Manager and see what parts in your machine are reaching its maximum limits, only close down apps and programs that you know and recognize, do not shut down system related tasks, this might cause a system failure!

(A) From HLL discord member: ZukoEU
As for the high CPU usage . I am gonna provide you with 3 links . Windows has a service that constantly running called High Precision Event Timer ( HPET ) and some users are suggesting that by disabling the HPET they noticed less stuttering , FPS drops & steady CPU usage with no drops and some others are claiming the exact opposite .

2nd link

3d link

Whatever you decide to do ALWAYS create a Restore Point cause after all it’s windows we are talking about here , it’s bound to fail at some point .
One more thing you could possible do to fix your High CPU usage would be to unpark your CPU Cores . Would it help ? Maybe ? Should you do it ? Ehm … it’s not gonna break your computer or something cause you will not gonna change any registry values i am gonna provide you with a link to a solid program ( [link] )
Disable CPU Core Parking Utility
Frequency scaling, turbo boost, c-state, prformance optimization and cpu temperature monitoring
for your safety and your computers safety i am not gonna link you a way to un-park your CPU cores via the Registry and remember ALWAYS create a RESTORE POINT before your next big move.

(A) From HLL Discord member: Gera_CCT: “I Got maybe a 5-8 fps boost by just changing latency mode to ULTRA in the Nvidia Control Panel. Try it and see if it works for you.

Note from: [1AD]ZukoEU: Latency mode is heavily CPU depended. So if your CPU is not strong enough you will notice stuttering and even fps drops.

FPS and Performance Issues: Part 2

(Q) My GPU is bottlenecked by the CPU, the utilization is lower then 100%.

(A) Right-click the HLL.exe (in “Steam, RMB on Hell Let Loose and in the Properties, go to the Local Game Files”) and go to the Compatibility tab, tick “Disable fullscreen optimization” on in there, save and start playing.

For me personally, I gained about 10 to 15 FPS by enabling this option (Disabling the Optimization). Plus I changed my battery/power settings in Windows.

(A) From Team17: Let’s try the following to see if it helps:

Can you please update your Intel graphics card drivers at Intel[downloadcenter.intel.com].

Once this is done, ensure that your Nvidia card is configurated correctly to be prioritized to run the game:

– Open the Nvidia Control Panel. You can do this by right-clicking on the desktop or you can find the option within the notification area of the Taskbar.
– Select Manage 3D Settings under 3D Settings.
– Click on the Program Settings tab and select the program you want to choose a graphics card for from the drop down list.
– Now select the ‘preferred graphics processor’ in the drop down list (you can see what the automatic option is listed as global setting).
– Select High-performance Nvidia processor.

(A) Follow this summary combined by Reddit “Le_Tabernacle”:

Steam Set Launch parameters for insane fps boost (25+):
-dx12 -high -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -malloc=system -refresh 144 -NOTEXTURESTREAMING

Set “-refresh 144” to your monitor”s refresh rate (60hz, 120hz, 144hz, etc.).

Also, set HLL.exe proprieties to launch as administrator, disable “full screen optimization” and set compatibility for Windows 8 (even if you play on Windows 10).

Final tip, go to SteamsteamappscommonHell Let LooseHLLContentMovies and delete the 2 intro clips for more stability and less stuttering (aparently, the in-game video player is bugged and impacts game performance). You can always check game files to re-download them if you want, they only take like 1.2MB.

Its recommended to start with this configuration, if you have 16GB of RAM:
If your GPU is above the requirements (can cost FPS) add:
sg.TextureQuality=2

For better PostProcess effects (lightshafts, etc):
sg.PostProcessQuality=2 (or 3)

For better effects (explosions and particules, etc):
sg.EffectsQuality=2

1 Low
2 Medium
3 High (“Epic”)

Make sure the file is set on “Read only” after you’re done.

Improve your FPS and AA: Part 2

Improve Anti-aliasing

Note that this won’t hurt your FPS if you’re already using AA.

Edit Engine.ini, under [SystemSettings]:

r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=2
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.2
r.TemporalAASamples=32
r.TemporalAASharpness=0.7
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1.15
r.PostProcessAAQuality=4

or…

r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=2
r.TemporalAASamples=16
r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.25
r.TemporalAASharpness=0.8
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0.6
r.PostProcessAAQuality=4
I do recommand the first AA values as it results in less “ghosting”.
Alternatively, you can use r.PostProcessAAQuality=6.

To use with TAA clarity.

Disable Mouse Smoothing
You really don’t need mouse smoothing, believe me.

Edit Engine.ini, under [/script/engine.engine]:

bEnableMouseSmoothing=False

Reduce Saturation and increase Gamma (Fully optional)

r.TonemapperOutputGamut applies a desaturated effect to all colours, subtle but obvious.
r.Color.Mid slightly increases Gamma and provides stronger midtones colors (default is 0.50).

Edit Engine.ini, under [/script/engine.engine]:

r.TonemapperOutputGamut=0.86
r.Color.Mid=0.525

For older setups, If you’re desperatly looking for a few more FPS.

To reduce shadows quality even further, edit the following lines to:

r.Shadow.CSM.MaxCascades=1
r.Shadow.CSM.TransitionScale=0.25
r.Shadow.MaxResolution=16
r.Shadow.FadeResolution=32
r.Shadow.MinResolution=8
r.Shadow.TexelsPerPixel=0.6‬

To remove lights from particles (fire, etc):

r.ParticleLightQuality=0

Less details in your vinicity:

r.RenderTargetPoolMin=200

To remove subsurfaces features (on characters, etc):

r.SSS.Scale=0

Quality, FPS and AA changes: Part 1

(Q) Is there a community guide for my PC settings and performance?

(A) Yes there is! here

(Q) Everything is blurry about 20 to 50m away. Is there some solution?

(A) From Steam – X3PeXs: Try to go into the video settings, at the bottom press “set default settings”. Then choose your resolution (for example 1920×1080). Put Community AA or Standard as your preferred AA. Put Foliage on Medium. Leave everything else on Epic, unless you want to put Shadows on less then Epic or even Medium. Press Apply and try playing again. There was some bug where old settings were not overridden by the game.

(Q) My screen feels a bit blurry, I tried all AA settings. What can I try next?

(A) From Discord’s member – [BLB]Genome {GC}: Me personally. I only force Sharpness in Nvidia Control Panel with using in-game Community AA option. Works really really well.

(A) From Discord’s member – Critical Fail (107th): You can do the same with the AMD/Radeon equivalent software by going to gaming -> Hell Let Loose -> Radeon Image Sharpening. I’ve put that at 100% and it looks much nicer.

(Q) I keep seeing dark shadows and strange visual issues. What can that be?

(A) Please reset all settings in the Nvidia Inspector and DDU reinstall the Nvidia Drivers. This should clear these isues.

(Q) I keep getting stutters in game, what can I do?

(A) From Discord “EsTaste”: Check if your Steam Launch Commands include -NOTEXTURESTREAMING, this is not recommended if you have less than 8GB (or more or less, depending on the requirements of HLL) of video memory. Please remove this command.

Afterword

We have heard that the solutions have various outcomes, for some they work, for others they do not. Or for some they gain performance and for others they lose performance. Try to find a solution that fits your specific hardware and software, this because each and every PC out there is a unique machine, none are the same.

Try to ask other players about their specific hardware, not just a ‘i7″ processor, but more information like “Intel Core i7 9700K processor”.

Or not information such as “SSD”, but more like “Samsung 860 PRO, 512 GB SSD (MZ-76P512B/EU, SATA 600, V-NAND, AES)”.

Always compare another player their hardware and try to find parts that are working perfectly together. Do look up the supported hardware lists on your hardware manufacturers website. Installing wrongly timed or not supported hardware might have a negative impact on your performance.

Futureproof:

Although many parts are great for storing data and are in general working well, many parts might not be suitable for next-gen gaming. Upcoming games will get bigger in size, this is unavoidable because the need for quality and scale of environments and content is just key. No one these days wants to have a game with 2 hours of playable content anymore.

To make more content, developers create more assets, more details, FX, audio and many, many more technological improvements for us all. To make sure all the data loads in as fast as possible, your hardware must support this too. HDDs and even SSDs (SATA600) are great for storage, but to load/stream in the dozens or even hundreds of gigabytes, your hardware must support these speeds.

M.2 NVMe drives such as the Seagate FireCuda 520 (ZP1000GM3A002, PCIe Gen 4 x4, M.2 2280, NVMe 1.3) or the Samsung 970 EVO Plus (MZ-V7S500BW, PCIe Gen 3 x4, M.2 2280) support speeds well above 3GBs, while the SSDs (SATA600) and the mechanical Hard Drives are only capable of reaching speeds around 500MBs.

Endnote:

Optimization is always a thing that happens near the end of production, no developer wants to optimize, then fix alot of bugs, add more content and reoptimize everything all over again. Some fixes are easier to fix then others and the same applies to performance. Some parts are easy to improve, other just need more work. You can compare it with making a cake, or making a macron… One is easy as pie, the other a long, painstaking process in where everything might fail and you have to redo the whole process…

One last thing, try to monitor your hardware by looking into the Task Manager and see what part is maxed out while playing. Try to disable as much unneeded background tasks (be careful not to disable OS related programs) and try to close (Steam) UI overlays. Also keep in mind that your display resolution is tied to your FPS… A triple 4k monitor setup will not give you massive FPS, while a 1440p or 1080p monitor/resolution on the same hardware will give you the FPS you expect.

Thanks! Enjoy!
