How To Host Own HLL Server for Hell Let Loose

How To Host Own HLL Server

Overview

Here is explained how to host, in this case how to rent, your own server in Hell Let Loose and what tools you need to moderate it. The guide presents you all the available Game Server Provider (GSP) options and compares the prices, locations and features by different GSPs to ease your decision making and to provide insight into the topic. The guide is also trying to collect reviews from other clans & communities within HLL. The author is a community manager of [fll.fi] Finns Let Loose – A Finnish HLL Community. The Finnish community has experimented with all three GSPs (G-Portal, GTX Gaming & Nitrado). Any questions, comments or inquiries can be left in the comment section below or you can find me from Discord: [fll.fi] Tuomainen#0001 @ discord.gg/FLL

Rent A Server

Hell Let Loose does not provide dedicated server files. You can only host your own HLL server by renting a server from one of the three Game Server Providers (GSP). Please notice that the developers of HLL has limited their GSP partners and there is not much to choose from. Self-hosting is not possible and there is no recent news or discussion regarding that subject from the developers of HLL.

Personally I have experience with all three providers. Admin Tools

After finding a suitable GSP for you, the next thing you need is admin tools. Here you have three options. It is recommended to use anything else besides the vanilla RCON. It should be your last resort when all the other technologies are down.

Vanilla RCON

A basic tool, the official tool developed by HLL Devs. You can download the .exe file from a link provided by your GSP. This tool is the only tool that is not web-based or mobile compatible.

Community RCON

A community developed tool for advanced use and features. It makes makes server running a much smoother experience, when comparing to Vanilla RCON.

Battlemetrics RCON

A third party tool. The only tool that comes with a price tag. Especially suitable for multigaming communities because you can manage all the supported games from the same window. Or if you have plans to grow in the future, then you can use your HLL ban list in your future games for example. It offers a-7-day free trial period.

Discord For Server Owners

There is peer support Discord for server owners & admins called “HLL Hosting & Divisions Bunker”. It is created & moderated by the developers of HLL. It also serves as a place for occasional dev communications towards the server owners. You can DM me in Discord for an invite, if you’re a clan/community leader or a server owner. Alternatively you can ask an invite from the devs. Username is [fll.fi] Tuomainen#0001.
