A Hat in Time Guide

Creating Your Own Challenges for A Hat in Time

Creating Your Own Challenges

Overview

Hey, kiddos! I was wondering: ever tired of running through the same levels of A Hat in Time? Want something new? WELL TOO BAD! Unless you want my (non-guide) advice, you’re out of luck! AHAHAHAHAHA!!

Fundamentals

From before here, it’s always been the Snatcher (totally me, of course! no shame in giving yourself credit, you know) giving you contracts. Well, since you’re so arrogant and bored, you’re going to be making your own contracts! Or, for those who are also a bit stubborn, ‘challenges‘.
These challenges are going to be split up into a few categories: Everyday Life challenges, and Level Specific challenges. That way, it’s totally diverse (and organized too)! And you can keep mixing and matching them. Want a level with some spice? Try playing ‘Train Rush’ without dashing! Want something a little more complicated? Try ‘Heat Up Mafia Town’ at twice the speed, no hats, and no touching the lower half of Mafia Town! Oh, I’m sure you’ll have your sweet time with that one, kid. If you are wondering what a challenge means, just look at what’s underlined. Or ask me, that also works.
With that all out of the way, let’s see what we have in store for you!

Everyday Life Challenges (With Snatcher)

These challenges can be done on any level, any time, anywhere! (At least, more so than usual.) This includes things like hat specifics, control swappings, and a few tasks to carry out, as well as some console commands. The fun stuff! Some of these may seem easy, but don’t worry kiddo… the more you add, the more complicated it gets.

Play Nice! Challenge: Don’t hurt anybody, kiddo! It should be easy enough. Just be a coward!
Umbrellas Are Nice Challenge: Equip the Hover, Hookshot, and Projectile badges. Simple. Effective!
No Hat Usage Challenge: It’s in the title. Stop using that stupid hat of yours!
Sprint Challenge: Sprint Hat only!
Brewing Challenge: Brewing Hat only!
Ice Challenge: Ice Hat only!
Dweller Challenge: Dweller’s Mask only!
Time Stop Challenge: Time Stop Hat only!
No Badges Challenge: No badges.
Terrible Badges Challenge: You can only use negative badges. {The only ones you can use are the ones with flies circling around them.}
Runner’s Challenge: You have to use the Sprint Hat to move around! Basically, running only.
Witch’s Challenge: You can only move while you’re brewing a potion! Once it is out of your hand… freeze!
Ranged Challenge: Be classy for a change, kiddo! No melee attacks; only ranged ones! {Brewing Hat potion, Projectile Badge, etc.}
Melee Challenge: You guessed it! No ranged attacks, only melee ones. {Umbrella attack, Homing attack, etc.}
No Jump Challenge: You aren’t allowed to press the jump button to leave a surface. For all you Death Wish players, this is like my Zero Jumps contract!
No Dashing Challenge: You simply aren’t allowed to dash.
Wall-Less Challenge: You can’t touch any wall! This time, I guess, the walls are lava!
Arrowless Challenge: You aren’t allowed to use the arrow keys / WASD controls to move around. Dashes are your best bet or horizontal movement.
Killer Challenge: Kill everything in sight, kiddo!
No Double Jump Challenge: One jump! And one jump only.
Homing Attack Challenge: You’ll have to home in on people to hit them!
Lazy Mouse Challenge: Set your mouse sensitivity to 5. Your screen turns a little slow, doesn’t it?
Hyper Mouse Challenge: Set your mouse sensitivity to 100. Try not to get motion sickness, kid!
Inverted Horizontal Challenge: Left is now right, right is now left! {This goes for camera movement and player movement. Basically, whatever controls you have set for them… flip them.}
Inverted Vertical Challenge: Up is now down, down is now up! {This goes for camera movement, as well as jumping and crouching. Basically, whatever controls you have set for them… flip them.}
Controller Jumble Challenge: Your controls have all been randomized! {Set each command to a random thing.}
Speedrun Challenge: This is simple, you speedrunners. Turn the speedrun timer to Act Timer Only. {Max. time is chosen by you!}
1-Hit Hero Challenge: Beat a level with the 1-Hit Hero Badge.
Scooter Challenge: You can only move around by using the scooter!
Thief Challenge: Make sure you grab every single collectable, kid. You do need to pay those fines, after all.
Showtime! Challenge: Don’t miss your chance to attack a boss!
En Route Challenge: Don’t stray from the game’s path, ever! And you can’t fall off the path either!
Empty Wallet Challenge: Love pons? Too bad! You aren’t allowed to collect any collectables in the entire level!
Sneak Challenge: You aren’t allowed to be detected by any NPC, enemy, or whatever. {Some, like the cats and the bosses, do not count}.
Sugar Rush Challenge: You aren’t allowed to stop moving for more than two seconds! {And no, hopping and / or walking in place do NOT count as moving.}
Floor is Lava Challenge: We bring the lava from Mafia Town to a level near you! You aren’t allowed to have touched the ground for a total of 30 seconds (the timer spans over the ENTIRE LEVEL)! {In case you’re wondering, a certain Wing Cap mod may help with this… but I’m sure it’s beatable without it, right? We’ll see.}

Console Command Challenges (With Snatcher Minion)

it’s pronounced kellen goff, not snatcher minionHi Newbie! Well, I guess you’re not that much of a newbie at this point. I mean, look at you! I guess my only reasoning is that you’d be doing Console Command Challenges. You have to turn these on in the menu, and, uhh… maybe look at how to turn these on first before you unlock these challenges. Oh, and, the boss wanted me to remind you that, uhh… if you use Console Commands while you have one of his Death Wish contracts active, he’ll get mad. Like, very, very mad. So, uh, try to not do that, okay? Don’t wanna end up like me, that’s for sure.

Ant Kid Challenge: Smaller Kid, more work! (changesize 0.4, setgravity -500, setjumpz 420)
Invisible Kid Challenge: Uh, kid? Are you there? I can’t see you. (changesize 0)
Space Challenge: Lose that atmosphere! You don’t need to breath anyways. (setgravity -150)
Jupiter Challenge: It’s a little heavy. (setgravity -1150)
Mario Challenge: It’s time to jump up! (setjumpz 750)
Giant Kid Challenge: Wow. You’ve grown a little, huh? (changesize 2.75)
Slomo Challenge: It just looks so cool, right, kid? By the way, no Time Stop abilities, or swapping hats, or it catches up to speed. (slomo 0.4)
Speed Up Challenge: Are you mad? Don’t sweat it, I would be too. Boss says no Time Stop abilities, or swapping hats, for this one. (slomo 2)

Before you move on, know that the numbers are interchangeable. These are just the ones set for a specific result. At least, that’s what the boss said. He told me to inform you that you can change the numbers to whatever you’d like to change them to, so I guess that’s cool. Okay, that was all, have a cool day and try not to die maybe!

DLC Challenges (With The “Conductor”)

Alrighty, lassie, a little strand of spaghetti told me ye want to know how to make challenges. Well, I’m gonna teach ye the best! Because I am the best! So buckle up, stand straight, and, eh… play some challenges, I guess?
(Oh, and, the DLC required is in parenthethingies next to the challenge. And And, I was told this category has Level Specific Challenges in it, so the level will be to the side.)

Mirror Jumps Challenge: Every time ye jump, ye have to alternate with the Mirror Badge on, and the Mirror Badge off! (Seal the Deal required)

Set Sail! And Die! ALOT!

Welp, that’s out of the way. Prepare to yell, scream, and quit more times than you can shake a burning twig at! I’ll be relaxing, or something. Taking souls is hard work.

If you come up with a way to adjust a challenge, or come up with an entirely NEW challenge for me to add on this list, just type it in the comments! Yes, those things! If I like it, I’ll add it! This especially goes to mod challenges, because I’m part of the base game! I don’t know all the good mods. At the same time, though, you can’t get rid of me! EVER!

And, if you post online your playing through the challenges, I might also add them into this (totally real and not fake at all) guide! The more people beating my challenges… the more that will fail.

So go on! Set sail! Have at it! Shoo!
Maybe if you beat them all, you’ll get a… a cookie.
Or maybe a bunch of money! You won’t know unless you beat it.
…The prize varies every time someone beats all the challenges, I guess???
