Overview
This guide will help you setup mods for Mirror’s Edge.
So you want some mods, eh?
Setting up mods for Mirror’s edge is very simple. HOWEVER, doing it in the incorrect way of directly copying mods into your Steam Gamessteamappscommonmirrors edge folder will continually overwrite your files and force you to keep backups or reinstall completely. Therefore I feel this guide is necessary to explain the proper method of installation.
- Here are the steps covered
- Downloading mods
- Installing mods into folders
- Uninstall mods from you game
Downloading mods
Unfortunately over time mod sites for Mirror’s Edge have vanished, creating only one reliable site for all Mirror’s Edge mods.
Moddb is the most reliable source for your mods. Any other mod sites when searched for usually directs you to Mirror’s Edge Catalyst mods.
Here is the site: [link]
Once there you need to download two specific files. One is optional if you don’t plan on replacing your character skin.
Mirror’s Edge Mod Menu:

Moded TdGame FIX (the optional one):

These files provide the framework for other mods to be loaded correctly.
Installation time
Now that you have your files it’s time to install them. Navigate to (Drive):Users(Username)DocumentsEA GamesMirror’s EdgeTdGame folder. Once there unzip the Published folder from the Mod Menu file into your TdGame folder.
You could also navigate to (Drive):Users(Username)DocumentsEA GamesMirror’s EdgeTdGamePublishedCookedPCMaps folder and delete the Mods folder if you want, or keep it and install map files inside. Either way the Mod Menu works the same regardless.
(Skip if you chose not to download the TdGame fix)
Next unzip the TdGame folder from the Moded TdGame FIX archive. There are now two options on where put that file based on how easy you want to make it.
- Option 1
Move the TdGame folder into your main Mirror’s Edge directory at (Drive):Steam Gamessteamappscommonmirrors edge and replace the TdGame folder there. This replacement shouldn’t affect anything in the main game other than providing a fix for other mods. - Option 2
Move the CookedPC folder (from your unziped TdGame folder) into your (Drive):Users(Username)DocumentsEA GamesMirror’s EdgeTdGamePublished folder and replace the existing CookedPC folder. This method creates more files to deal with when installing mods making a much more messy experience. It will be difficult to tell where your mods are using this method but it completely protects your main folder.
Whenever you download a new mod look inside it, find the CookedPC folder, then drop it into your (Drive):Users(Username)DocumentsEA GamesMirror’s EdgeTdGamePublished folder. Remember to always navigate to your Published folder with the CookedPC folder to prevent putting files in wrong areas.
Congratulations! You’re now ready to install whatever mods you want without destroying you main folder!
As a final note, it would behoove you to make a backup of your Published or CookedPC folder if you are unable to correctly identify which mod files you need to remove for uninstallation.
Uninstallation time
Removing mods is simple when you know how. Look into whatever file you downloaded and look at the contents it installs. Then navigate to your (Drive):Users(Username)DocumentsEA GamesMirror’s EdgeTdGamePublishedCookedPC folder and remove those files.
Or you could always completely delete the CookedPC folder and use your backup of that folder instead. This is a safer and easier method but having a backup is something not everyone wants.
Most map replacers will edit some form of the SP0 files found in the CookedPCMaps folder, so you will be unable to use all map mods you downloaded together. But it should be easy to delete whatever map mod’s folder you put in and replace it with a different SP0 file from another mod.
Now you’ve read the guide and you should be knowledgeable enough to know how to install mods and uninstall mods safely and properly. Thanks for reading and have fun!
