Exploring Stranded Deep Guide for Stranded Deep

Exploring Stranded Deep Guide

Overview

I am the owner of “Survive Stranded Deep”. “Survive Standed Deep”, Was a guide series created within the first week of the game being released in 2015. This means the guide is outdated and useless with the current game.Exploring Stranded Deep will now take a new look at Stranded Deep in its current state and bring helpful tips to the new mechanics of the game.I aim to make these guides as short as possible per video, as no one wants to be fed information they do not need. Simply click on the video that you are interested in and you are introduced to that information only. This leaves you guys with an easier method of learning, and a more happier outlook when coming back for more videos related to guides. I will try to keep all of the images I use for the Thumbnails in my guides, just incase anyone is interested in seeing them or using them. – Nine Worlds

Prologue

Life Raft

As soon as you enter Stranded Deep, your screen will fade into a vast ocean as you wobble on a Yellow Life Raft.

Interacting with this life raft is quite simple.

Boarding

Look at the life raft until a circle appears on your screen. Board the raft by holding down the Left Mouse button – the circle will begin to expand. After the circle expands you will now be able to control the raft with the WASD keys.

Unboarding

To unboard the raft, simply look at it and hold the left mouse button. Once the circle expands you can now exit the raft.

Note

In earlier versions of the game, you would have to use a paddle to conduct the raft, this mechanic was removed.

Basic Interaction

Movement

To move use the Mouse and WASD keys.

Inventory

To open your Inventory hit TAB.
To Cycle through your inventory items use the Top Number Keys.

Items

To pick up items, hit E.
To drop items, hit Q.

Crafting Menus

To open your crafting menu, hit C.

Crafting

To Craft items, you must first have all of the materials in the general area. To do this pick them up and drop them next to each other. Open your crafting menu and choose the item you desire. Hit Craft and place it in the desired location.

Bed & Yucca Trees

Bed

The bed is insanely useful for those who do not want to wait through the night.

Open your crafting menu with C, and click on the bed Icon after scrolling to the bottom of the crafting list.

Here you will need 4 sticks and 4 lashings to craft the bed.

You may place the bed anywhere you like, and even move with the right mouse button.

Simply hold down the left mouse button to interact with it when the sun has set, and you can rest through the night near a cozy fire.

Yuccas

Take note that Yucca trees only give 2 lashings per tree. Though dont worry there are plenty around the island and they do grow back!

Vitals and Basic Food

Vitals

Understanding your Vitals is important in any survival game. Stranded deep however – Does not have it displayed on your screen at all times which is nice for those who care about being in an imersive game.

Survival Watch + Vitals

To see your Vitals and any other information such as the Time and Day, hold down the F key.
Using the Left Mouse button you can switch between the screens to view your vitals.

Basic Food

In Stranded Deep you can find many food sources on the islands. Though we will be looking at the two foods you do not have to cook for now!

Coconuts
Are found on the tops of Palm Trees. You can reach them by simply climbing up the tree and knocking them down with the left mouse button.
Coconuts are useful if you need to knock out two birds with one stone as they hydrate as well as feed you.
Just make sure you don’t fall down from the tree!

Potatoes
Potatoes are another good source of food that does not have to be cooked. You can find them anywhere on the island, though they can be easy to miss considering they are a tiny shrub. They only provide you with Food.

Crude Spear Fishing

Rock Shard

Crafting the spear is insanely easy to do now, with the crafting menu. ( Opened by hitting C ).
Though the rock shards may seem a little confusing to obtain for those who are new.

To obtain two rock shards, gind a rock and place it on the ground. Simply press the right mouse button and hold it. Toss the rock into the air and when it comes down it will break into two pieces.

Crude Spear Fishing

Crude Spear Fishing is done by simply going into the shallow parts of the ocean. ( It can be done in the deeper parts ),

TIP 1
Pay mind to your oxygen, Stranded Deep has no real way to tell you that your oxygen is running low other then the sounds your character will make and the tint of your screen.
The Darker your screen the less oxygen you have.

TIP 2
Pay mind that if you attempt to thrust at a fish without actually having your cursor over the fish ( Their name will appear above their body ) you will miss.

Seek out the fish you want and thrust your spear.
After the fish has been attached to the spear, hold left click to remove it.

Basic Camp Fire Cooking

Renewing a Previous Fire

For people who have already created a previous camp fire, you do not have to waste the extra time creating a new one. Simply stick logs on the burnt out camp fire and light it back up.

Cooking

Basic Cooking in this game is fairly simple, unless you’re doing the grill method or using a spit all you really have to do is craft a simple fire and throw your food onto the fire.

Make sure what ever food item you’re wanting to cook has been placed on the ground. Look at it and hold the right mouse button, drag the item towards the fire.

You can now either hold the item on the fire, or place it on the sticks and let it cook, you can also place multiple items on the same fire!

Grill Cooking

Grill Cooking

A faster method of cooking food, versus the campfire would be to conduct Grill Cooking.

Begin by crafting two campfires side by side.
Place the foundation as low as possible and centered between the two campfires. ( As shown in the video )

You can light the campfire or even renew them by crouching and this will allow you to get just low enough to interact with them if need be.

Simply place what ever food you want on-top of the foundation you crafted and wait for the food to cook!
