Hello, Welcome!
Hey there folks, welcome to my Stranded Deep Survival Guide.
It’s currently a work in progress (and will probably stay that way as the game constantly changes with every new updates), I might add more video in the near future to make things more convinient for you but no promises as usual.
What this guide is basically everything that I’ve learned and searched while playing the game so that hopefuly you’ll have a much more easier time with the game unlike how I did the first time playing the game.
Table of Content
This guide is intended for both non-experienced (new players) & experienced players, so if you’re an experienced player you can refer to this section to find the solution for your specific need.
Also this guide will be written in a less serious and less technical manner (as there are already plenty of those kind of guides) in hope that you as a reader can enjoy reading and learning.
This section is intended for new players who aren’t sure on what to do at the start of the game but experienced players are welcomed to read it anyway for Sh!ts and giggles.
In this section you will be guided on what to do after you got onto the safety of your Life Raft.
This section will guide you on your first few steps on surviving, this is not intended for a permanent solution for survival so if you are already in mid-game you can go ahead and skip this part.
This section will help you on how to quench your thirst need
This section is a continuation of the previous section “4.0” it discuss the next step to ensure a much more permanent “Solution” get it? because water is a solut- … sorry I’ll stop.
In this section you’ll be guided on how to solve your hunger problem with a temporary solution by using smoker to cook meats and acquiring the meat through spear fishing.
1.0 “Oh no! My Jet Plane crashed into the ocean what do?!”
Okay so the Jet Plane that you were on crashed landed into the ocean and a life raft was magically and mysteriously inflated close to the dangerous safe looking Jet engine that is still on, what should you do next you ask? Simple just swim toward the life raft that is dangerously safely close to the unstable safe looking Jet Engine.
2.0 “A Jet Engine just blew up on my face but I’m still alive”
So you’ve swimmed toward the life raft that was dangerously (that was very dangerous why did you do that) close to the unstable Jet Engine that then proceeded to blow up on your face and somehow you and the life raft survived that explosion. What then?
Alright so here’s the situation, you’re floating in the middle of the ocean on a life raft that apparently does NOT come with food and water rations or a survival kit of some sort.
Also it appears that your Plane & Life Raft does not come with an Emergency Locator Transmitter (Those handy things that alerts rescuer of your GPS position via radio wave or an older version that use the old fashion way “pinpoint signal”) and also it seems that PERHAPS your plane were flying ilegally under the radar and without permission, also PERHAPS you are a black market smuggler or a drug cartel (or a mafia of some sort “y’know because you were wearing that slick @ss suit when you crashed”).
In which case you are F**ked because no one is coming to save you because you’ve kept things so low profile to the point that no one knew that a plane just crashed or disappeared from existence because maybe the sale of the plane was not even reported to the authority in which case you are super F**ked because no one is going to look for a missing Jet Plane.
It’s either all of the above or maybe you were flying on Malaysia Airline or it’s partner.
So you’ve finally accepted the fact that no one is coming to rescue you, thankfuly the life raft does come with a paddle otherwise you’ll have to fly again (if you’re not traumatized already by a plane crash) using the magical and mystical power of Jumping+Hold_Right_Click = “The Power of Flight”.
Proceed to paddle your way toward an island or fly towards it “Whatever floats your boat” *Ba Dum Tss* get it? because you’re on a boat an- … … … sorry I’ll see my way out *gets out of the room*.

[link]3.0 “Okay I made it to the island what now?”
Alright great so you’ve made it to the island, let me give you a list of things to do to help you get on track.
- Watch out for dem Snakes.
- DO NOT build structures yet (Woods are apparently a non-renewable resources in this game, so it is best to keep them for things later on that you’d consider a high priority after all your survival needs are met, bed are an exception though).
- Build a bed (This is an exception, bed can be moved around and also you need sleep).
- DO NOT eat fruit that you found (You may grab it and let it spoil as it can still be used to grow fruit even if it is spoiled).
- Collect coconut.
- Gather stones.
- Gather sticks.
- Craft a stone tool (Stone tool has an unlimited durability at the moment, use it for cutting Yucca, Young Palm Tree for Fibrous plant so you can craft Lashing).
- Scavenge for stuff from a ship or a boat or a plane crash around the island (That are not submerged deep underwater) find a tarp and 2 bucket (minimum).
- Take inventory of list of stuff that you’ve gathered.
Alright if you haven’t find a bucket yet at this point go to another island and bring your resources with you unless you like the island you’re on and are absolutely sure that you can navigate back to it.
4.0 “Found the Tarp and the Buckets”
Okay good you found the tarp and the buckets, here are your list of things to do next.
- Craft a crude axe (DO NOT UPGRADE IT TO REFINED AXE YET, USE IT FIRST UNTIL IT HAS A LOW DURABILITY THEN UPGRADE IT TO REFINED AXE).
- Chop down trees.
- Chop logs into sticks.
- Craft a Solar Still and place it close to where you want your home to be at.
- Place the spare bucket that you have right next to the Solar Still in an upright position so it can catch rain water (Also for grabbing water from the solar still to drink).
This is a good temporary solution as long as you don’t start a farm yet as you won’t have enough water with just 1 Solar Still, it is recommended that you upgrade to 2 Solar Still as soon as you’ve found an additional bucket to take place of the drinking cup as rains are not consistent.
Important Note: It is NOT recommended to build a water distiller as it uses fuel (wood) that is not renewable in this game.
4.5 “Okay I got the water situation taken care of.. sort of.. I guess..?”
Alright with that solar still and 1 bucket on stand by to catch rain water your water situation is sort of taken care of, you may want to upgrade to a minimum of 2 solar still and 2 bucket on stand by to catch rain water which I found great for personal need.
But if you want to start a farm you’re going to need lots of solar stills as it guarantees that you’ll get waters in the end of the day (Unlike rain).
Getting more buckets is also good as you’ll be able to store the excess water that the solar stills produced.
5.0 “Coconuts are great.. but uhm.. I’m starting to run out of them”
So you’re dying of starva- *Cough* *Cough* I meant.. you’re low on nutrition, that’s not very healthy at all.
So what I want you to do now is to build a Smoker, the smoker will preserve the meats that you’ve gathered and you’ll also be able to cook them in mass quantity in a single run which is a great thing as you’ll be able to save up on fuel “More bang for your buck” 😉 *winky face*
It is HIGHLY recommended that you use the Driftwood over the Palm Tree & Ficus Tree wood, this is because the Driftwood stick cannot be used for some crafting recipes.
- Fishing Spear
- Refined Knife
- Smoker
- Sticks for fuel (prefferably Driftwood sticks)
- Loads of fish
- Kindle (to light the campfire)
- Patience
As for the meat gathering, craft yourself a Fishing Spear and spear some fish in the shallow water (DO NOT GO INTO THE DEEP WATER) keep fishing like there’s no tomorrow, if the fish in your shallow water starts to dissipate simply walk away a few meters (or yards you dirty Imperial peasant.. “Lol”) and the fish will magically reappear.
(Not really much thing to do in game at the moment so I’m roleplaying as an explorer *lmfao* also this is going to be a really slow expedition because I’m a P*ssy against the Sharks dolphins they love to hug with their teeth according to some of the forum users (This is a joke in the forum if you didn’t know)).
- Sardine
- Pilchard
- Archerfish
- Cod (No not Call of Duty)
- Discus
- Frontosa
- Giant Bass
- Angelfish (I have not yet tested this fish but according to the Stranded Deep wiki this fish will still cause the player to vomit even if it is cooked, so a no go until further research).
- Clown Triggerfish
- Lionfish
- Sea Urchin (I know! I know!! it’s not a fish!)
- Rockfish
- All sharks
Empty/Dump out all the stuff in your inventory and hold the fishing spear in your hand(so it doean’t take space) and keep on catching fish until you’ve filled up your inventory which should be a total of
Tips for Spear Fishing: Hold your left click to catch fish and to put the fish into your inventory.
Good job, keep this up and we’ll have those stinky little boogers extinct in no time!
Alright now to cook them (assuming that you have the smoker in place ready and a refined knife).
You’ll have to do this next step as fast as you can as they can go bad real fast (No no, don’t worry they won’t go bad when they’re still in their fish form).
Drop all the fish in one spot.
Take out your refined knife and start butchering emm to bits and pieces.
Jump onto the Smoker in a crouching position and drop all the meats into the smoker.
Ensure that all the meats are evenly placed on the smoker.
Hold the kindle in your hand and start the smoker fire.
Wait for the ding that signals the meats are cooked.

[link]This is not a permanent solution for the food problem, it is not recommended to keep using this method as fuel should be reserved for a more permanent use/investment.
