STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™ Guide

Conquest Commanders for STAR WARS™: The Old Republic™

Conquest Commanders

Overview

This guide will discuss about the conquest commanders, where to find them and how to kill them. I, myself, am in a conquest guild and have killed countless of commanders and battlemasters on my time so most of the things I will say here will be based from my experience. Take note that some of these info are gathered from different sources, including the internet, information given by allied guild members and from personal experience. I took the liberty of taking my own pics so i hope you appreciate them. On with the guide.

Things to know

So why bother killing battlemasters? well, they drop something called “flagship plans” and these are required to unlock rooms in your flagship. So instead of crafting them, which is really costly and time consuming, you could kill these guys instead.

The targets are: a Sith/Jedi Commander and a Veteran Sith/Jedi Battlemaster

-You have to be in PVP instance to see these commanders

-Sith/Jedi commanders that have names and are harder to kill than the VBMs

– A named commander drops blue encryption plans for every single member of your team and a single purple framework plan. VMB drops blue encryption plans and very rarely purple plans. 12 drops for each commander killed so bring friends.

-Three types of plans: Command, Engineering, and Logistical

– Both named commander and VBM will have a 4hr respawn time (sometimes NC will not spawn in 4hrs but 8. I will have to confirm that myself). The named commander will have a shield that will be up for 6hrs (hover around the buff to know when the shield will expire). If your guild controls that planet, you can order a Starship flyby to destroy the shield, purchasable from the conquest vendor on the main fleet. This gives you and your guild an advantage and get first blood on the commander before the other guilds can.

Respective vendors are located in strongholds and crew skills section on the main fleet.

– The health of a named commander ranges on about 1.2m to 5m depending on their lvl. Up to 8-12 players are recommended.

-The VMBs HP ranges on about 200k to 2.5m. 2-4 players are recommended. Much easier to kill than named commanders.

With that being said, I personally recommend to bringing lots of players, atleast 12 people(even fighting the easy VBMs) while doing a base raid as everyone can get dropped (sometimes not everyone), it would also kill the commanders much faster. I would stick to VBMs if you don’t have a guild or tons of friends as these can be killed with 2 people and their comps very easy.

Strategies

Group Composition

Every raid you should have atleast 1 tank(taunter), 1 bait (preferably another tank with invi or just someone with invisibility) and 1-2 healers. Everyone else can go DPS.
12 people should be minimum and 16 max.

Basic Strategy

Let your teammate, who has invisibility, to scout around the outposts before your entire team can summon. Look around if your target is there or are there incoming enemy players and same faction players. Plan your next move depending on the situation.

Find a safe place near the target but away from the adds(mobs). This should be mostly outside the outpost where the commander is located (this is where most of your team should be gathered and ready). But don’t go too far away since it deaggros the commander.

Make sure the tank sees his target and has the commander in his/her sights. Asking the group leader to mark the commander will help with visibility. Buff your tank for added protection. Then the bait can begin.

One of your teammate will invi and go in to bait the target and adds while the tank prepares to taunt the target. The tank will then taunt the commander, taking him/her to where your other teammates are waiting while the bait makes a run for it, deaggroing the adds (using cloak is recommended too). After that he/she can help the tank kill the BM.

VBM tips

As I have said, these can be taken with 2 people and their companions. Set one of the comps to healer and the other one to damage.

The baits companion should be set to passive to avoid companion suicide. Set it back to aggressive after the bait gets rid of the adds.

You can solo this too with a lvl50 comp. Although I haven’t done it myself yet.

Sith/Jedi commander tips

Named commander have the ability to yeet you very far. If this happens, it will follow the tank far away and then deaggro, resetting the fight. Make sure your tank backs up against a wall so avoid getting yeeted.

Don’t attack while shield is up, wait for it to go down or use flyby.

Lastly, set your loot to master loot to avoid another guild from stealing.
Don’t take too long, you are marked for PVP, you might clash with another raiding guild.
On second thought, yes please, I love a good guild brawl!
