Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms [Complete]

Overview

I know there will more than likely be a few guides appearing for this game but seeing as I’ve been taking notes whilst playing it seemed a waste to not do anything with them.100% guide for all routes and pointers for achievements.EDIT- I will no longer be updating or adding to this guide. It took forever the first time around and I do not have the time to go through it all again. Please, if you have any problems, there are other guides out there that may be able to help :)I managed to get 100% with this though, so I have no idea how others can’t.

𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏

I’m sure we all know what this game is about by now, we’re just here for the answers yeah?

Hopefully, this guide will be a handy little helper for those who may be struggling to get a certain ending, or achievement.

It seems there is 1 good ending, 1 bad ending and numerous game overs for each route, except Kazama.
After a bit of reading it seems to be that the bad endings are from chapter 4 and the others are game overs, I can’t really see the difference between the two types of ends so I’ve just called them all bad endings. You still should get the right achievements following my guide though, it’s just my preference to call them all bad endings.
~After playing through a few more routes it does indeed seem that the Bad Ending occurs in Chapter 4 and the rest are just game overs with a slightly different FIN screen. So I’ll go back and amend my headings etc.

Edo Blossoms features the Corruption system, which as the name suggests, is a pretty nasty side effect of becoming a Fury.

We now have to keep an eye on our chosen fella’s corruption levels and, depending on which end we’re going for, either keep it nice and low for a good ending, or let it soar through the roof for a not so great end.

I’ve found, so far, that giving blood is the best option for keeping his level low and controlled. Giving medicine or telling him to endure it seems to make the corruption rise and has given me the bad endings. Again I want to point out that this is only what I’ve experienced so far, but I’m going to hazard a guess and say that it stays like that for every character.

Quick info in case you get lost in my ramblings of text (or don’t want to read, that’s fine too);

• Give blood —–> Corruption Low —–> Good end
• Give medicine —–> No Change —–> Bad end
• Make him endure —–> Corruption High —–> Bad end

Also thought I’d add that ^^^ in for anyone who doesn’t want to follow all of my guide and is instead looking for just a bit of a push in the right direction.

Midnight Notes
The corruption rises throughout the game so the medicine just doesn’t do anything.

𝑨𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔

The achievements are pretty self explanatory when you look at them. They’ve each got their own description that highlights what you need to do in order to unlock them.

Most of them are for starting and finishing their respective character route.

There are however a couple thrown in for starting multiple routes such as;

• Same Stuff, Different Day – this is for starting Nagakura, Sanan and Yamazaki’s routes.
• This Again…? – for starting Hijikata, Okita, Saito, Toudou, Harada and Kazama’s routes.
• That New New – for starting Iba, Souma and Sakamoto’s routes.

They will all be unlocked with this guide, regardless of what order you choose to play in.

If at the end you find that the achievement We Got A Genius Over Here won’t unlock then go back through each character with the Record of Service and make sure you exhaust all conversation options, you’ll know if you’ve selected the choice before as the text will be highlighted in blue, so just pick the other option and see if you spot any new Encyclopedia entries.

To unlock the achievement for a Full CG Gallery, you need to click on Gallery from the main menu after completing your last route, and the final CG will ping along with the achievement.

I got 100% achievements with this guide, so it should all work for you too!

Starting Hijikata’s route will grant you the achievement-

Toshi’s unrequited love ending confused me. He clearly says he loves Chizuru before the scene where he dies (T_T), so how is that unrequited love? Or is it because he dies and will no longer be able to love her? I don’t know.
I don’t know why I put that ^^ as a spoiler, you should’ve just played through it so you know what happens… all I know is that it apparently counts as unrequited love because I unlocked the movie ending for Unrequited Love afterwards. *shrugs*
It seems all the unrequited endings are of a similar idea so it must just be me.

All of these endings can be accessed from Record of Service—> Hijikata so I’m not going to put that before each of the endings.

I loved this route so much. Yamazaki and Souma were my favourites in Kyoto Winds, with Hijikata coming in close second, so I’m eagerly anticipating Souma’s route in Edo Blossoms so I can see once and for all which route is my favourite!
