Overview
This no frills guide will tell you a quick and easy way to customize your owned trailers with your company livery.
Free software you need:
- 7-zip to open zip files and scs files: [link]
- Paint. net to create, customize, and save your image files: [link]
- Alarthon’s outstanding trailer templates: [link] Thank’s to David ARMAstrong for the link!
How do it.
- Download and install the software from the previous section. Put Alarthon’s templates in a convenient place.
- Use 7-zip to unzip the file UNZIPME_ATS_Owned_Trailer_Templates_and_Example_Skin.zip
- Open the folder you just unzipped and use 7-zip to open the archive ATS_ExampleOwnedTrailerSkin.scs
- In the archive, navigate to ATS_ExampleOwnedTrailerSkin.scs/vehicle/trailer_owned/upgrade/paintjob/ Then choose either scs_box or scs_flatbed. Your call. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll do a box trailer.
- Navigate further to ATS_ExampleOwnedTrailerSkin.scs/vehicle/trailer_owned/upgrade/paintjob/scs_box/example_1/
- If you have the old version of Alarthon’s templates, you’ll need to rename any files ending in .DDS to .dds. Then drag the .dds files you need for your truck to a convenient place. The file shared_007bc145.dds colors paintable accessories like side skirts. The rest are self explanatory.
- Open the dds files with paint .net. Then paint them anyway you want them. Use the images posted with the mod as your guide as to what goes where.
- Key step: Be sure to save your image files with the following options. Otherwise your reflections will be messed up. You want DXT5 (Interpolated Alpha), Cluster fit (Slow/HQ), Perceptual, check Generate Mip Maps, and select Super Sampling. Then save.
- Make a fresh copy of ATS_ExampleOwnedTrailerSkin.scs and stick in your mod folder. Drag your dds files to ATS_ExampleOwnedTrailerSkin.scs/vehicle/trailer_owned/upgrade/paintjob/scs_box/example_1/
- If you are a perfectionist, feel free to customize the dds files at: ATS_ExampleOwnedTrailerSkin.scs/material/ui/accessory/ and in the root directory.
- Start the game, activate your mod, and make sure it looks good! Drive safe!
