This guide will provide detailed information about American Truck Simulator, how to earn ALL Achievements, locations of every Truck Dealership, Recruitment Agency, Garage. Multiplayer Mod, Dev Cam and Skills.
Introduction
Welcome to The American Truckers Guide to everything! This guide will provide you with all the information you need to go from a small time trucker to a trucking entrepreneur! You will be able to take breathtaking screenshots, earn all achievements, find your way to every truck dealership and recruitment agency and build up your very own company.
[WARNING] – Due to the ever increasing size of American Truck Simulator, this guide is likewise incredibly extensive. I have tried my best to organise it in a logical way with DLC sections in order of when they were released.
Dev Cam & Console Commands
The Dev Cam is something you can use for taking incredible screenshots, teleporting your truck/trailer and combined with the Console, you can teleport right across the map in a matter of seconds, you can see any errors in the console which is useful for mod makers and advance in-game time.
Some of the features can be used to exploit the game and earn you lots of money but it is reccommended that you don’t do this unless you find yourself going into negative money too often. It is also worth mentioning that by teleporting to destinations when on a job you will earn no experience because you physically need to drive to earn the experience. In regards to World of Trucks (External) Contracts, you can use the Dev Cam but you are unable to teleport your truck.
- Open Notepad (or Notepad++)
- Click File
- Click Open
- In the dropdown, select All Files (by default, this will be “*.txt files only)
- Locate your American Truck Simulator Folder (C:Users<USER>DocumentsAmerican Truck Simulator)
- Open the config.cfg file on Notepad
- Change the following variables from 0 to 1 and then save the file:
uset g_developer “1”
uset g_console “1”
NOTE: If you are unable to find these two variables, simply add these two lines to the end of the config document and save.
- Hit the 0 key on your keyboard (below the Function keys, NOT on the NumPad)
- Use your NumPad to control the camera
- If you are in single player, you can use the F9 key to teleport your truck to the area your camera is currently at. This is a feature disabled in the Multiplayer Mod & WoT Contracts (World of Trucks or External Contracts)
Open American Truck Simulator and select your profile. Once in-game, use the ~ key to activate the console and type the relevant command.
g_set_time ‘hour’
This command pushes the time forward, you cannot go back in time. For example, if the current hour in the game is 10.00 and you will enter g_set_time 9 then the outcome will be 9.00 the next day.
g_set_weather X f/i
This commmand changes the weather in game. X should be replaced with a number, odd numbers are rain and even numbers are sunny. After you have chosen a number you put either ‘f’ or ‘i’ to end the console command. If you put ‘f’ (forced) the weather will change immediatly. If you put an ‘i’ (intermediate) the weather will gradually change over approximately 20 minutes game time.
game
This command reloads the whole game.
quit
After typing in it turns the game off (works same as ALT + F4)
editmap
Activates map editor.
g_flyspeed ’10 – 1000′
Allows changing the speed of the dev cam. Default speed is 100. This is also possible by simply scrolling the mouse wheel up or down for faster or slower when using devcam. Presumably this is the default setting for most people.
g_minicon 1 and g_fps 1
You see the number of fps in the game and RAM and VRAM usage. To turn it off type g_minicon 0 and g_fps 0
r_wireframe 1
Activates wireframes (useful for modders). To turn it off, type r_wireframe 0
g_police 0
Deactivates receiving tickets in the game. To go back type g_police 1
This can also be done from the Options menu when you press Esc in-game.
goto ‘cityname’ (teleport to specific city)
After typing this command you will be teleported to the selected city. Only the camera will move here (You will need to press F9 in order to teleport your truck to the cameras location). Some citynames do not work as they are slightly different in console, therefore you can follow the guide below for teleporting to a specific city.
NOTE: There are multiple Cities with the same name across multiple states so some of the cities cannot be teleported to. If this is the case, you should teleport to the nearest city to where you want to be and devcam fly over there instead until a better soloution is found.

Skills
When playing ATS and completing deliveries you will earn Experience Points and level up. At each level up you reach, you will gain a new Skill Point. The Skill Points you gain can be assigned to different types of skill to help you unlock new jobs and earn more rewards for completing those jobs.
- Hazardous Cargo
This is the only skill set that you can choose from each class individually as opposed to levelling up the skill from left to right. Each class unlocks new job types. It is unimportant which class you choose first but generally explosives and flammable liquids are the more common jobs.
Hazardous cargo classes give an XP bonus but no cash bonus, however Hazardous cargo jobs will have a higher base payout than other jobs.
- Long Distance
This skill unlocks longer distance jobs. This skill is one of the most important in the game since it gives 25% XP bonus for jobs longer than the initial 250 km and a 5% higher cash reward per skill rank for jobs that fall within the ranks distance.
More importantly, since the base reward for deliveries is based on distance, this skill also effectively increases the base reward of both cash received (your driver charges a flat rate + a rate per km) and XP gained (you gain 1 XP per km driven on the job) making this skill your first priority.
- High Value Cargo
This skill unlocks new cargo and higher reward jobs. This skill will give you an 18% XP bonus for High Value cargo and a 5% higher cash reward per skill rank. Combining this with Long Distance and Hazardous cargo skills will greatly increase your income.
- Fragile Cargo
This skill unlocks new cargo and higher reward jobs. This skill will give you a 22% bonus for Fragile cargo and a 5% higher cash reward per skill rank. Combining this with Long Distance and Hazardous cargo skills will greatly increase your income.
- Just-In-Time Delivery
This skill opens important deliveries at Rank 1 and Urgent deliveries at Rank 2. Important deliveries give a 3% higher cash reward per skill rank and a 20% XP bonus. Urgent deliveries give a 5% higher cash reward per skill rank and a 30% XP bonus.
Though at first this seems a very nice skill to have early on, there is a drawback. Important and Urgent deliveries have a much smaller delivery time frame. Since the penalty for a late delivery is very high, this skill should be taken later when you have a truck capable of doing the deliveries required.
- Fuel Economy
The least useful of the skills. This skill reduces the amount of fuel consumed while driving (reduced by 10% + an aditional 5% per skill rank). As the cost of fuel isn’t all that high and easily covered by the rewards received by deliveries, this skill can be ignored until last.
General Achievements
Drive 10 000 miles during deliveries
To receive this achievement you need to drive 10 000 miles with cargo while on a job. You can check how many miles you have driven in the Progress History under the ‘Driven distance on duty’ stat.

Buy your own truck
All you need to do for this achievement is buy a truck from one of the dealerships and it will unlock. The fastest way to get to this point is to do Quick Jobs until you can take a $100,000 loan from the bank, by which point you should already have at least $20,000 totalling around $120,000 to spend on your first truck.

Perform deliveries for at least 15 different companies
Simply complete deliveries for 15 different companies in the game and you will unlock this achievement. There are 40 companies you can do deliveries for including those added with or exclusive to DLC.

Earn 100K dollars delivering cargos
To receive this achievement you need to earn a cumulative $100,000 by delivering cargos. Long Distance, High Value, Fragile or Hazardous Cargo deliveries will generally earn you more particularly if you have skill points in a combination of those types of cargo. You will naturally earn this achievement over time.

Successfully park a trailer at a delivery point
In order to unlock this achievement you must successfully park the trailer at the delivery point. You cannot skip parking the trailer. You can choose either the ‘Where do you need it?’ option or the ‘Let’s play it safe’ option.
Successfully park a trailer at a hard delivery point
To unlock this achievement you must successfully park the trailer in a hard delivery point. This means that you must select the ‘Where do you need it?’ option when delivering the trailer and successfully park it for the achievement to be completed.
Finish 50 deliveries
To unlock this achievement you must complete 50 deliveries. The number of Deliveries Finished can be checked in the Progress History as seen in the image below.
Complete a perfect delivery (no damage, no fines, in-time) for a job that is at least 600 miles
To do this achievement you need to make sure to follow the rules of the road to the letter! It can be difficult to avoid speed traps and to stop last minute when a light decides to turn red but fortunately you can load autosaves and possibly utilize the quicksave feature (SCROLL LOCK). It is also worth mentioning that you can only do this once you have the Long Distance skill developed to at least rank 2. I personally did this on a 951 mile trip from Jackpot to San Diego relatively early on.
Fully upgrade one of your garages
To earn this achievement you just need to upgrade one of your garages (probably your first) to the final upgrade stage. You can upgrade garages from the ‘My Garages’ menu as seen in the images below. The cost of upgrading a garage will always be $100,000 and will provide your garage with two extra truck slots.
Use a weigh station
To get this achievement requires some time and patience. At approximately 4 miles from a weigh station turn off, you will receive a message on your Route Advisor telling you to ‘pull in for a vehicle inspection at the nearest weigh station’. Simply follow the instructions on your Route Advisor and when the inspection is complete the achievement will pop up. It is worth noting that this cannot be done at any weigh station, it can only be done when you are requested to do so. There will also be a loud beeping noise to ensure you don’t miss it.
You may also receive a message telling you to pass by the next weigh station.
General Achievements Part 2
Use a gas station
To receive this achievement you must use a gas station. The achievement will pop up when you start to leave the gas station and hear the payment sound. This can be done either with your own truck or a truck during a Quick Job, the only difference is during a Quick Job the person paying you will also pay for the gas.
Buy and apply a custom paintjob
To get this achievement you must go to a Sevice Station and paint your truck with a custom paintjob as seen in the image below. It does not have to be any particular one, just as long as its not a standard / standard metalic, it must be custom metallic or a design.
California Achievements
Discover every city in California
There are 22 cities in California that you need to visit in order to get this achievement and for each city you discover, a message will pop up showing you your progress so far.

Deliver cargo to a port in Oakland and a port in San Francisco
Deliver cargo to ports in both Oakland and San Francisco.
The Oakland port is named Oakland Shippers. You can see its location in the map below.
The San Francisco port is named Port of SF. You can see its location in the map below.
Deliver cargo from all 3 Vineyards in California
To receive this achievement you must complete deliveries for all three Vineyards. Delivering to one of the Vineyards will not count, you must pick up a job from each Vineyard. Jobs will not show up on the Job Market until you have discovered the city in which the Vineyard is located.
All three Vineyards are owned by the same company that goes by the name of Dachelle Uzau, you can see thier logo in the image below.
The first Vineyard is located North East of Eureka. You can see its location in the map below.
The second Vineyard is located North of San Rafael. You can see its location in the map below.
The third Vineyard is located North East of Carlsbad. You can see its location in the map below.
Nevada Achievements
Discover every city in Nevada
There are 10 cities in Nevada that you need to visit in order to get this achievement and for each city you discover, a message will pop up showing you your progress so far.

Deliver cargo to both quarries in Nevada
To receive this achievement you must complete deliveries to both Quarries in Nevada. Delivering from one of the Quarries will not count, you must pick up a job and deliver to each Quarry. Jobs will not show up on the Job Market until you have discovered the city in which the Quarry is located.
Both Quarries are owned by the same company by the name of Coastline Mining, you can see their logo in the image below.
The first Quarry is located South East of Carson City. You can see its location in the map below.
The second Quarry is located North West of Elko. You can see its location in the map below.
NOTE: There is a Coastline Mining in Pioche too but it is NOT a Quarry and it will NOT count toward the achievement.
Arizona Achievements
Discover every city in Arizona
There are 16 cities in Arizona that you need to visit in order to get this achievement and for each city you discover, a message will pop up showing you your progress so far.

Deliver cargo to the Phoenix Airport
To receive this achievement you must complete a delivery to Phoenix Airport in Arizona. Delivering from the Airport will not count, you must pick up a job and deliver to the Airport. Jobs will not show up on the Job Market until you have discovered Phoenix. You can see the location of the Airport in the map below.

Visit Colorado river sights
There are 6 locations you need to drive to in order to get this achievement. All locations are located next to the Colorado River usually beside a bridge or dam.
The first location is beside the Hoover Dam on the US-93 located North West of Kingman & South East of Las Vegas. You can see its location in the map below.
The second location is a bridge found on the i-40 located South West of Kingman. You can see its location in the map below.
The third location is The Grand Canyon located at Grand Canyon Village at an overlook road. You can see its location in the map below.
The fourth location is a bridge found on the i-8 located North of Yuma. You can see its location in the map below.
The fifth location is a Dirt Yard overlooking Glen Canyon and Glen Canyon Dam. It is to the West of Page following an unmarked road. You can see its location in the map below.
The sixth and final location is a bridge found on the i-10 located West of Ehrenberg. You can see its location in the map below.
New Mexico DLC Achievements
New Mexico is NOT a free DLC and therefore will only apply to you if you have bought the DLC. The New Mexico DLC can be bought separately or as part of the American Truck Simulator Enchanted Bundle.
Discover every city in New Mexico
There are 14 cities in New Mexico that you need to visit in order to get this achievement and for each city you discover, a message will pop up showing you your progress so far.

Visit all large truck stops and rest stops in New Mexico
Simply drive into each of the following truck stops in New Mexico. You are not required to rest in them, just simply visiting them will unlock the achievement. There are 22 in total.
NOTE: It is possible to ‘discover’ a rest stop but it not trigger as visited for the achievement so it would appear yellow on the map. You need to make sure you are properly driving over each of the rest stops to ensure you definitely trigger the achievement notifications.
Below are all of the locations you need to visit to get the achievement.
Heading East between San Simon & Las Cruces, the rest stop with service and petrol station
Discover shortcut through the forest
To get this achievement you simply need to drive along the unmarked road that cuts through the forest as seen in the image below.

To get this achievement you need to simply drive past the Billy The Kid Museum which is located West of Clovis as seen in the images below.

Deliver cargo to An-124 depot
To get this Achievement you must deliver cargo to the An-124 at the ABQ Cargo Centre. This is actually an aircraft stationed there and is quite difficult to find jobs for as there is a second ABQ Cargo Centre right next to the An-124.
If you are looking at the jobs selection screen try sorting them by recipient then clicking on a couple of the ABQ Cargo Centre ones and you will see the red flag move so slightly south, that is the one you want to take cargo to.
Oregon DLC Achievements
Oregon is NOT a free DLC and therefore will only apply to you if you have bought the DLC. The Oregon DLC can be bought separately or as part of the American Truck Simulator West Coast Bundle.

There are 14 cities in Oregon that you need to visit in order to get this achievement and for each city you discover, a message will pop up showing you your progress so far.

Travel across the New Youngs Bay Bridge
To get this achievement you simply need to drive across the New Youngs Bay Bridge which is located immediately South of Astoria as shown in the map below.
Deliver cargo from all timber harvest sites in Oregon
To get this achievement you simply need to deliver cargo from each of the timber harvest sites in Oregon. Delivering cargo to the sites will not count, jobs must be picked up at the harvest sites and delivered elsewhere. There are 5 timber harvest sites in Oregon as shown below. The timber harvest sites appear green when explored as opposed to the usual yellow so they are more easily identifiable.
The first timber site is located South West of Medford

Complete a delivery of vegetables over Cabbage Hill
To get this achievement you need to simply take a cargo of either vegetables or frozen vegetables over the location Cabbage Hill. Cabbage Hill is located just South East of Pendleton as shown in the map below. The achievement will be granted immediately upon entering the route shown from either direction with the cargo regardless of whether you complete the delivery or not.

Discover following landmarks of Oregon: Crater Lake, Crooked River Gorge, Thor’s Well and Yaquina Head Lighthouse
To get this Achievement you must drive past the mentioned landmarks found throughout Oregon.
Crater Lake is located North West of Klamath Falls on the lone road that ends with a Rest stop
Washington DLC Achievements
Washington is NOT a free DLC and therefore will only apply to you if you have bought the DLC. The Washington DLC can be bought separately or as part of the American Truck Simulator West Coast Bundle.
Discover every city in Washington
There are 16 cities in Washington that you need to visit in order to get this achievement and for each city you discover, a message will pop up showing you your progress so far.
Looking at the map above, the 16 Cities you will need to visit are as follows:

Drive through both Seattle tunnels
To get this achievement you simply need to drive through both of the Seattle tunnels located to the North and East of Seattle as shown in the map below.
Use a ferry to cross the water
To get this achievement you simply need to drive onto the ferry located at one of the two Ports in Washington either at Port Angeles or Everett as shown in the map below. You do not need to be carrying any cargo to get this achievement.
Drive through the forest road to timber harvest in Bellingham
To get this achievement you simply need to drive through the forest road to the timber harvest site East of Bellingham as shown in the map below. You do not need to be carrying any cargo to get this achievement.
Deliver a cargo to both port terminals in Washington
In order to get this achievement, you must deliver any cargo to both of the Port Companies in Washington. The Port Companies are Port of Seattle and Port of Tacoma, you can see their locations in the images below.
Port of Tacoma is located in the Northern section of Tacoma
Port of Seattle is located on the Western side of Seattle
Deliver a boat to a marina in Washington
This achievement requires you to deliver an actual boat as a cargo to a marina in Washington. The marinas are all owned by the same Company, Sea Horizon. There are 6 Sea Horizons around Washington that you can deliver to. You can see 3 locations in the map below at Bellingham, Everett and Port Angeles.
Deliver a cargo to an aerospace company in Washington
This achievement requires you to deliver any cargo to the only aerospace company in Washington, Darwing. Darwing is an airport located at Everett as seen below.
Visit Mount St. Helens, Grand Coulee Dam, Mount Rainier
To get this Achievement you must drive past the mentioned landmarks found throughout Washington.
Mount Rainer is located near the middle of the connecting road between Yakima and Longview
Utah DLC Achievements
Utah is NOT a free DLC and therefore will only apply to you if you have bought the DLC. The Utah DLC can be bought as a separate DLC, it is not included in any additional DLC Bundles.
Discover every city in Utah
There are 10 cities in Utah that you need to visit in order to get this achievement and for each city you discover, a message will pop up showing you your progress so far.
Looking at the map above, the 10 Cities you will need to visit are as follows:

Visit all mines & quarries in Utah
To get this achievement you simply need to drive through each of the mines and quarries in Utah. There are just 3 locations that count as either a mine or quarry in Utah, you can drive through each of them with or without cargo to get the achievement.
The first location is Coastline Mining just West of Vernal
Find a sign that says “nothing”
To get this achievement you simply need to drive up to a sign on an unmarked road. The road in question is located between St. George and Page immediately next to a Rest Stop. The road is signposted as Cedar Heights and leads to nothing but a beautiful view.
Take a job from each company located in Salt Lake City
To get this achievement you simply need to pick up at least one job from each of the companies located around Salt Lake City. There are 8 in total which means you only need to take 8 jobs to get the achievement. The 8 companies consist of 1 Sell Goods, 1 Voltison Motors, 1 Coastline Mining, 2 Avalanche Steel, 1 Plaster & Sons, 1 Wallbert and 1 HMS.
Deliver 5 frac tank trailers to any oil drilling site in Utah
To get this achievement you simply need to deliver cargo to any of the 6 oil drilling sites in Utah. You can only deliver to each of the sites once to count it toward the achievement as delivering to the same site multiple times will not count. All of the oil drilling sites are owned by Gallon and there are only 3 cities that have 2 sites each. Below is an image of what the Frac Tank looks like and all of the oil drilling sites.

Heavy Cargo DLC Achievements
Heavy Cargo is NOT a free DLC and therefore will only apply to you if you have bought the DLC. The Heavy Cargo DLC can be bought separately, with the American Truck Simulator Enchanted Bundle or as part of the Exceptional Cargo Bundle.
Deliver first Heavy Cargo Pack job
To receive this achievement you need to deliver your first Heavy Cargo trailer. There are 9 new cargo types in the Heavy Cargo Pack.

Use truck scale or weigh station with gross vehicle weight of at least 170,000 lbs
All you need to do for this achievement is use a weigh station while your truck and cargo weigh a total of 170,000 Ibs or more. In order to achieve this you need to be driving with a Sleeper Cab and Long Chassis with a 300 Gallon Fuel Tank, you also need to have a full fuel tank and your cargo must be the heaviest of them all, the Transformer.
Note: If you use a Truck Mod from the workshop or elsewhere it is possible that they are much heavier than the official in game trucks making this achievement much easier to achieve.

Complete a perfect delivery (no damage, no fine, in-time) of a cargo from the Heavy Cargo Pack which is at least 1,000 miles long
Simply take a Heavy Cargo job that is over 1000 miles in distance and deliver with no fines, no damage and within time. At this point in the game it should be a breeze as you would need to have progressed far enough into the game to have bought a decent enough truck to pull Heavy Cargos anyway so you will have had plenty of practise.
Best advice is to try to stick as close to the 1000 mile distance jobs as possible and as straight a route as possible while sticking to the motorways instead of curvy small country roads.

Earn $100,000 on 5 consecutive Heavy Cargo Pack deliveries
This achievement requires you to earn $100,000 or more while taking ONLY Heavy Cargo jobs 5 times in a row. If your first Heavy Cargo job earns you more than $100,000 then you could do the rest for free (devcam teleport) but you do need to take 5 Heavy Cargo jobs one after the other and the total you need to earn across the 5 jobs is $100,000 it is NOT $100,000 per job.

Complete deliveries on all oversize routes in current map
Special Transport routes are different to every other delivery type currently in American Truck Simulator as they are set routes as opposed to randomly generated routes. There are currently 24 routes available to deliver Special Transport Cargoes with more becoming available as more States and updates are rolled out. If you do not have some of the DLC or any of the DLC then you will not need to do as many of the routes to get the achievement.

This achievement requires you to complete 3 separate deliveries. The Haul Truck Hull cargo, the Huge Tyres cargo and the Haul Truck Chassis cargo. Once you have completed one delivery of each of those cargoes you will have earned the achievement.

ATS Multiplayer
American Truck Simulator does not come with a multiplayer mode unfortunatly. However, you can download a community made mod here >> [link] << that allows you to connect to an online world with thousands of other truckers. Installation is quick and easy, all you will need to do is register a Steam Account with that site that has Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator and download the mod.
It is HIGHLY recommended you use a separate profile for use exclusively online since using a single profile for both singleplayer and multiplayer can cause issues such as loss of data.

Well now that you are probably a filthy rich trucking entrepreneur i suppose you might want to spend some time looking around the sights of America? This is one i found recently by accident when teleporting to San Diego. You can only see this from Dev Cam and quite handy that using the console command to teleport here spawns the camera right above it!! I’m not actually sure what it means or the story behind it as of yet though.
