Overview
A guide to building the best possible plane for t6 and above
Introduction
As understandable many t5 players and above dabble a little in planes. Planes are some of the most fun things to use but at the same time the most weakest, many times when i was a raw rookie in t6 i got one shotted by a sniper or plasma volley. Now that i have been to t10 and reached lvl 76 with over 170 hours in robocraft i have come up with an answer, to build a t10 style plane in t6.
You may be wondering what makes a t10 plane build style much better than a t6 plane build style
The answer is this – t10 build styles work around building a brick then adding wings and thrusters till your brick flies- the result is pretty much a flying tank. Lets begin
Building
The first step in making this plane is to get the core that will house your pilot built. This is essential to survival and is one of the reasons this is so tanky.
Im using white cubes for demonstration, build it with blue cubes!
Next you can lay out the body of the plane in pretty much anyway you like as long as it is three wide at any point for added strength.Once that is done add on two wings on each side like what i have done and put two rudders on top for control
You should have two t6/7 thrusters pointing down and two t5/6 thrusters pointing up, more may be used if your plane is particualarly heavy.
For the bottom of your plane begin lining it with prisims on the edges in a shape like this _/ with them all being prisms, no cubes should be used for this as this is your main defence against rails.
Lastly pop a radar reciever onto the back
Explanation and Flying
Now its time to explain the unusual rudder wing configuration (well for t6 at least)
Say you had your rudder configuration like this with a normal two wings. This isnt nesscarily bad but it lacks redundancy. You only have to take out one of those three rudders and your ability to control is pretty much gone. However with this design as long as you have a two wings you can fly (even if the two wings are on the same side!)
Controlling this plane requires a minor adjustment to most flying techniques but it should handle pretty much the same. Do not be afraid to fly straight into the enemies smg nest as if you built it like a brick then youll be able to take a pounding and emerged unscathed.
Emergency Controls (when your wings and stuff get blown off)
Losing rear rudder = you still can fly normally but your turning circle becomes much wider
Losing all rudders = If you put turning thruster flying should be normal, but controls will feel more jittery
Losing a wing = Dont panic you still have 3
Losing 2 wings = May require some slight adjustments to flying but still workable
One wing = Either go tank or find a medic
Now go out there and wreck them all.
Warning may require 1300 cpu to build effectively
