Overview
Okay. its been known for some time that there’s an issue with getting this game to run for some people. Have you tried running it only to be greeted by a black screen and crash. Well you’re not alone and there are some actual workable solutions.
The Problem
If youu’re here you likelty alread know what the problem is. You’ll aso know that there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Well I’ve gott a couple suspicions. But to sum it all up DRM.
WHy do I think it’s DRM. . COuple facts.
1.) The problem has been known and reported for years but as of yet Capcom has yet to issue a statement or even acknowlledge it.
2.) The problem seems to strike at random, but seems some how tied to net connectivity. More on this later.
But yeah those are my reasones. Nothing fancy sure but it’s the best I can come up with.
But you didn’t come here for chatter you came her for a fix.
The First Solution – VPN
This is not the easiest but it is the most functional soluution I’ve found to date.. TThis willl allow you to get the achievments, play online, and all that good stuff.. SOmething which the faster, easier solution (which we will cover later does not do.
If the title didn’t already clue you in, you’re gonna want a VPN software for this. so Here we go. You
1.) Install the Capcom Beat’Em Up Bunde
2.) Visit Winscribe’s Homepage[windscribe.com] and sign up for their free VPN service. No I’m not Shilling, they just happen to be the the first no BS
3.) Download And install Winscribe App.
4.) Launch The App and seect a server. United STates works pretty well but youu can fiddle around to see if the closer ones work for you as well.
5.) Start the VPN.
6.) Re-Login to Steam. You’l be prompted to enter you Password and Username.
7. ) Launch the Game. Well willl ya look at that! It works!
8.) Stop VPN and Close App. Yeah That’s right you don;’t need the VPN once the game starts up .
9.) Play game. Bust Heads. Have Fun.
And that’s ii. Worth noting that some VPN allow split-tnnelling which from the way its described will allow you to avoid having to re-login to STeam. But that’s it.
SO why does it work? Well remember what i said about DRM? Yeah My hypothesis is that Capcom is using some rather Bizzare DRM that does a sneaky cal home of sorts. That or they botched something in the online multiplayer API.
I suspect that for some people it can’t properly resolve a ocation so it basicallly soft-llocks the program. WHen using a VPN the loacation (although fake) will register.and thusly the game willl complete loading.
Can I prove this. Nope but it would exoplain why Capcom have dione nothing to correct this problem. COnversely It could simply be that some ISP router setups do not work well for some reason and so again the VPN proxy creates a sort of middle man.
