The Transition from League of Legends to SMITE 101 for SMITE

The Transition from League of Legends to SMITE 101

Overview

This guide is for Moba Veterans, more specifically for League of Legends players. I will not be really covering Funamental rules and things for mobas in general. If you are new to mobas I reccomend looking for another guide for your specific game Either on steam for smite and dota or the RIOT forms for League.

Before we begin.

Before we begin I would like to mention that I am not going to be bias or bashing on league of legends or smite in this guide, this is simply a guide to explain some of the many confusing things I’ve noticed League of legends players had trouble getting used to in SMITE

Gamemodes in Smite

Gamemodes

Conquest
Similar to League of legends, Smite has a 3 lane map with two jungles, a “firegiant” and a “Gold fury” which somewhat share the same rewards as the Baron nashor and the Dragon in league of legends except the gold fury does not give you a stat boost on defeat. Like league, Conquest requires 5 people on each team with a Solo laner, Duo laners, a jungler and a middle laner. but that is more of a fundamental and is not mandatory to win. It is important to know that even if the map is completely vertical and not diagonal like league of legends the Solo and duo lane are still predetermined (The duo lane tends to be the side with the beach and the solo lane is opposite)

Joust

Joust is a SIngle lane map with two ‘somewhat’ jungles and requires three players to play. In this gamemode unlike league aram, you are able to recall and walk back to shop aswell. The rules are not very strict in this gamemode as I have never had anyone really enforce roles onto people in this gamemode, at a beginner stage like you probably are, just be whoever you wish.

Arena

Arena is a unique gamemode with a circular map and no lanes, it requires 5 people to play on each team. The objective of arena is to get your teams creeps into the enemy portal situated on the other side of the map on the wall of the enemy team. you may also win by expending the enemy teams tickets by killing enemy players.

Assault
Edit: (Assault is a 5v5 Map)
Assault is a zig-zagged aram map with no recalling or jungles. other then that, it is pretty much joust.

Siege

…Well nobody plays seige anyways.
Think Poro King

Clash

Clash is a duo lane gamemode with two unparalleled jungles the lanes cross in the middle of the map with a red buff situated in the middle.

Match of the day

Smite has a very unique feature where every day a new special gamemode is created (replacing the previous one) this can range from an URF style game to a game where everyone is the same god.

Roles

Different for pantheons and Characteristic of characters, Each character has a role that it is catagorized in the roles represent the gods type of abilities and what you can really expect from them. memorizing these roles is ideal to truely understand the capabilites and limits of your god.
The roles are as followed.

MAGE I.e (Ra, Scylla, Freya, Nu wa)
Mages are magic wielding gods that usualy scale off of AP they usualy are ranged fighters but that doesn’t seem to be a manadatory trait. they usualy are Mid laners and junglers in rare cases.

WARRIOR I.e ( Bellona, Guan yu)
Warriors are melee fighters usualy situated in the solo lane they are fearless and usually jump into the fray to quickly stir up team fights.

Guardians I.e (Khepri, Ymir)
Guardians are support class gods with high defence. Their job is to protect their teammates with their skills which usually center around slows and roadblocks. Normally they do not do a lot of damage.

Hunter I.e ( Neith, Artemis)

A hunter is a term usualy meant for ADC characters that rely on a supports assistance early game and will later carry the team they are high damage dealers with a decent amount of defence and health.

Assasins ( Loki, Bastet, Awilix)

Assasins are roaming characters that level in the jungle by killing the creatures in it. they will occasionally gank lanes and help set up “assasinations” of enemies.

You can see what role a god plays by looking at their description in the Menu.

A Girl’s Favorite (GEMS!)

In Smite, you are given fair chances of getting the things that you can otherwise pay for in other mobas. Skins for example, are given out like candy even to those people with cobwebs in their wallets.
If you log in for 7 days you get a fair sum of gems, not usualy enough to get you any skins on its own but with that practice you can technically get anything.
Additionally you may also do weekly missions that also give you even more gems which… usually still isn’t enough to get you any skins.

You may also get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and the gods that they are for by doing things like:
Subscribing to the Hi- Rez Youtube channel (Water Dancer Nu-wa + Nu wa)
Following Hi-rez on Insagram (Instakill Neith)
Following Hi-rez on Twitter (?) (???)
and for downloading Curse (Curse voice apollo + Apollo)

If you Join a clan you can also collect clan honor which is used to buy skins (including the shadow skins) from the Clan shop.

Skins can also be unlocked by acquiring prestige for each character.
Each character has a Gold, Black-gold and Diamond skin which can be purchased with ingame money.

Buffs (Under construction)
