Guide to playing as the Spinosaurus for Primal Carnage: Extinction

Guide to playing as the Spinosaurus

Overview

Spinosaurus, perhaps the largest carnivorous dinosaur ever discovered, made popular (or hated) by Jurassic Park 3. As a one of the current three classes of tyrant class, this class at times can be either be a very effective class for the team, or a complete aggravation.I would like to share how I play with this class, and if this helps you, that’s great. If not, well then you have to find your own effective way to play.

Combat Style

Through the course of Primal Carnage and Primal Carnage: Extinction, Spino got nerfed big time.
That’s why I would suggest that you should play the Spinosaurus in a more defensive manner rather than going on the offensive and power on through.

The main reason for this is it’s speed, or lack of it. You will not to be able to chase down a sprinting human, yeah a theropod is unable to catch up with a human.

Because of this, you should not go after people who are far away and know’s where you are. Stay clear of them.

However, if they are in good enough range, chase them down and take your prey. Aside from the obvious attack of using your mouth to chew them up, you would be using your arms more. Swiping them is very effective (and pretty funny) as it can kill them with fall damage, sending them into the water, or great drops. If they are right under your stomach, just sprint and stomp them.

If they do start to run in circles around you, do not try to turn around and attack them. You have the turning radius of a ship. You cannot turn your neck as sharply as the T-rex to bite them. Run away to make some distance from them, then turn around and attack them.

Health

As the Spinosaurus, you have the highest amount of health among the dinosaurs.
However, do not think of yourself as a bullet sponge. You’re not the Man of Steel, just an animal.

If you have taken a certain amount of damage, pull back and heal while you can. The slightest difference in health can mean death.

If you start to take damage, try to run away, use your enviroment as cover to the best you can and heal. If they chase you and you are forced to fight, use your arms to knock them back, or bite them.

There is a hopeful chance that while the human is fixed on you, the other dinosaurs will be able to take opportunity to take the human down.

The team

I know it can be satisfying to go on your rampaging and all, but I think it would be more satisfying to know when you aided the Dinosaur Team well.

Swiping a pounced human will help dispatch the human faster, get the raptor out of a vunerable state, and help reserve to raptor’s stamina.
If you see a human taking on another dinosaur, be it another tyrant or raptor or anything else, get in there and help them, your presence could trip them up and provide a good distraction.

Luring a human is also a fun and effective way to help your team. When you are able to hide with your enviroment, and another dinosaur is being chased by a human, the dinosaur can bring the human to you and you can deliver a surprise attack. The same thing can be done the other way around.
Achievment purposes aside, it should not matter who gets the kill, the important thing is that you helped The Dinosaur Team.

The human classes

Now we come to the different human classes and see how they can affect your gameplay as the Spino.

In general, know when to retreat, know when to use you mouth, arms or feet and get dinos support.
And now the five human classes.
PATHFINDER
The pathfinder will be using his shotgun to destroy you at close range. And his flares can really hurt your eyes. If he uses the flare and unless you can see him, keep you distance so that his shotgun will do less damage cause of the range. Using your arms may work, doing a sweep attack to knock the pathfinder out of the blinding flare.

SCIENTIST
This class and the commando can pretty much be the bane of the tyrant class. Her sniper rifle will do big damage and your slow speed will not help. The biggest irritant is without a doubt, the tranqs.
They will slow you down big time, and you will wanna throw up given the right dosage.
Unless you are close enough to kill them the best strategy is to……run away.
Run away and use as much cover as possible. If you have to fight, try to use your enviroment to create a blind spot which may force them to come close to you, which you can capitilize with a surprise attack. Stay close with the rest of the team, there will be strength in unity.

COMMANDO
Mentioned earlier, this class is a big threat to the spino, now with its buffed assault rifle. Two of these human class can wreck a spino very quickly. All I can suggest for this class would be the same strategy as the scientist. Avoid fire as much as you can, lure them for an attack, and get support from your team.

PYRO
Despite having bad range, do not underestimate this class or you might end up being served well done.
This class can go around quickly and start roasting you from behind, and since you do not have a rear attack like the Rex and Acro, it will be a very dangerous situation. What I can suggest would be what I have mentioned earlier in Combat. Run away from the pyro to give yourself more room and a better aim for your mouth and your arms.

TRAPPER
This class will be using his net gun to shut you up, preventing you from biting and healing, thus leaving you vunerable. This is where arms start to come into play. Create some distance between you and the trapper to have better aim for your arms swipe, and use your enviroment to help you.

Maps

Different maps can either be an effective place for spino, or a complete pain.
Generally, I would suggest using the enviroment, to avoid fire, to use for hiding spots, and use the walls by pushing yourself against it to help make sharper turns to counter your horrible turning radius. Now I will talk about the 5 maps that I usually spend the most time with. Docks, Transfer, Contingecy, Utility Base and BasicTesting.

DOCK

The boat is the least dangerous place to be compared to being on the land.

If a human hides in a cargo container you can reach in and hit them with your arms, you do not have to worry about being shot at from the ocean side. And the boat provides Spino height cover for you. With a carcass right at the corner, and with support from other dinos, the boat can be a very defendable place to be.

TRANSFER

The trick with this map is to good at judging your position of your mouth to bite people hiding in elevated platforms.
The least dangerous place would be the other end of the map, far far away from the ground level shelter.

Like the boat on the dock, it is a somewhat good place defend, having 3 carcass to use and again with cover that can cover your tall sail and dino support.

CONTINGENCY
This map is plenty dangerous for you as the spino.
Since the humans use the upper level more, you will be completely exposed, going straight at them is suicide.
Also when you are inside you will taking a big gamble. The camera will be very big problem. Cause you cannot zoom out to know how far your enemies are, your vision will be heavily hindered.

UTILITY BASE
This map like contingency is also very dangerous for you. With access to the roof, huge amount of shelters and a compact arena, you are gonna be shot left right and center.
And when you go into the forest with humans chasing you, and with the height of trees and your camera being so poorly placed, you will not able to see anything going through the forest. Take extra care and try to have good teamwork with your team.

BASICTESTING
In my opinion, this is both the best and the worst map in PCE.

The arms again are gonna efffective, knocking them off the edge and they plummet to their deaths.
The three main features in this map is the hill, the pools and the portals.
If you need to climb the hill, the only way I know how is climb it from the left. Face the left side of the hill, start to move up until you are facing the edge then make a right turn to climb to the top.
The pool is perhaps the one exploitable feature that the humans use. Go around and hide behind the wall. Be patient and wait for the moment to strike, then move in when they are close
or distracted. Bite them when they are on the water’s surface. Crush them with your weight, or swipe them if they are below your chest.
The portal is the feature you can exploit, seeing as the map is very open, the portals is gonna be helpful in getting to one carcasss to the other and escape from gunfire. Be careful for mines at the portal entracnce placed by trappers.

End

We have come to the end of this guide. Keep in mind that this method to play as the Spinosaurus may not suit everyone. Hopefully this guide was helpful to you and thank you for taking the time to read this guide.
