Overview
How to play Swiggins dangerously, with high reward.
Full Build
This build has a focus on heavy-damage from early on, through the entire mid-game. You might struggle towards the end-game, if you allow the enemy team to level up live.
Note: this build does not include the Pool Boy-item (2x dmg for next Anchor Hit/Ink Spray when switching between weapons) because the item unlocks all the way back at level 110. If you do happen to be level 110+, swap Royal Toy Castle (25% dmg reduction when not carrying the Anchor) with Pool Boy, and buy the item at the end of the Survival-Tree.
Build Order
These items are absolutely vital for early-game kills and survival.
– First off, you’re useless. Rush in, do some damage, get enough solar for your Boots (135), and get out.
– The piggy bank is needed for initial hooks and team-kills (in public matches, it’s usually enough to say the name of who you’ll hook, and the team will help you get a near-instant gank – go for the low health targets!)
In order to be useful, you need to increase your damage-output.
– Don’t forget that farming both droids and healmobs will earn you solar.
– If you’re taking too much damage, get some items from the Survival-tree
You’ve got the damage, now get sturdy.
– After this stage, things get more interesting, as you will be able to beat on enemies with your Anchor (20 damage per hit) long enough for the Anchor Hook skill to reset.
– You can deal huge amounts of damage by performing this combo:
Anchor Hook ==> Anchor Swing ==> Anchor Hook ==> Anchor Drop ==> Ink Spray-Chase
Getting to this point is rare, as the rounds are usually done before you get enough solar.
– The health-upgrade for the Anchor is very important if you want the DoT to stick.
– Note the stun-upgrade for the Anchor Hook: it allows you to hit the enemy 2 times before using Anchor Drop
Tactics
– Hi, my name is Swig, and I’m very easy to kill!
Before you’ve bought any items from the Survival-Tree, you’re not exactly tough. You’ll be heavily reliant on your team-mates, and your only skills require you to be up-close and personal with the enemy. You will do a whole lot of dashing at the enemy, bailing out, and getting the healmobs(!).
Your main tasks are:
1. Anchor Hook in
2. Hit once
3. Anchor Drop the most valuable/dangerous enemy
4. Either get out and get healed, or deal damage with Ink Spray
Do not over-extend or get greedy, even though it will be tempting. Whenever you’re not performing your main task, kill droids and healmobs.
– Hi, my name is Swig, and I’m very good at killing!
At this stage, you have an insane damage-output, and it will be tempting to beat enemies down all on your own. Don’t. As always, stick with your team, and hit the turret whenever possible – you deal a lot of damage to it.
– Hi, my name is Swig, and I’m more annoying than popcorn between your teeth!
By now, there should be few-to-none turrets left standing, so now your job is to make the enemy team more annoyed at you than latency issues. Assassinate, Anchor Drop, Harass, be bait and bail. The more the enemy team keeps their focus on you, the more space your team mates will have to push forward towards their base.
“Proof” / Bragging
– In one game, the enemy team suffered 5 ragequits because we kept killing them.
– End score: 9/0 – 75 droids
– End score: 19/2 – 88 droids
– End score: 9/0 – 40 droids
– End score: 12/1 – 68 droids
– Kudos from opposing team after unfortunate match-making.
