Awesomenauts – the 2D moba Guide

So Foxy (Standard build) for Awesomenauts

So Foxy (Standard build)

Overview

This is a standard guide for Penny Fox. Disclaimer: I’m not a pro at miss Fox but I feel like a guide can help the people who are yet to have a solid build.

Introduction

As stated at the beginning i’m not a pro at foxy, im just a guy who happens to enjoy playing playing Foxy alot and has decided to make it my current main character.
I have played alot of her in the Beta and have only played her since the release of 2.3
From this I have came up with the most efficient build for how I like to play and I thought I would share it to help people who are looking for a guide or are just looking for other ways to play this rather versitile character…. enjoy!

Build

Ok, I imagine you see a few questionable things about this guide like why i use piggy bank for example. However just sit back and let me explain it all.

The end game result of this build is so your energy pulse utterly destroys your opponents. The general battle stratergy that occurs with the build is avoiding damage as much as you can, while gaining combo points and then when you get the chance you have to pounce at them knocking them back (preferably into a turret) as this should stun them aswell. Then finishing off their petty existence with your energy pulse.

Early game

After drop

Ok, the first thing you are going to want to do is buy the piggy bank. I know a bunch of people are definately going to prefere to not have the early game boost and want the +5% damage instead but to be honest the max of that which is +10% damage sounds alot bigger than it is as +10% to a 30 damage attack is only going to make it into a 33 damage attack. This is a very decent upgrade don’t get me wrong but I like to have the piggy bank especially after the Buff it recently recieved in the patch due to the fact that you can straight away get the two moves which are essentailals for Foxy.

The Moves
As I stated the first two things that you actually buy are the moves and im going to give a brief description of the moves, stats and their possibilities.

Pounce

The description they give for this is: Consume up to 4 charges to charge forward, knocking back enemies you come in contact with. Each charge increases the range and damage.

There are alot of awesome things about this move. My favorite thing about this is the ganking ability that it essentialy is. You can use it when your enemys are attacking your turret, just by going down behind them foxy is able to charge them into the turret quickly stunning them and causing them to take a ♥♥♥♥ tonne of turret damage in the process.

Another plus about this move is that when they are stunned you can easily get combo points back quickly enough for you to finish them off with the charge pulse.

Aswell as this the amount of impact that this move has just going by stats is insane, with a maximum of 45 from a base 10 with + 7 per charge and +1 maximum charge so you can get 5 charges you are able to land 45 damage on them with just your secondary ability and leaving them to get finished off by your primary ability which does alot more damage.

Energy Pulse

The description from the site says: Consume up to 4 charges to shoot a piercing energy pulse that amplifies damage. Each charge increases the damage.

I love this move, how it works, how the damage works, just everything. This move is insanely useful is almost every situation. Ok enough of me fangirling over this move. Basically uses of it extend from the fact that it can go throulgh turrets, with the range upgrade it has a rather large range and apart from that it’s damage hits everything in the area it hits rather than focusing on one specific person. Due to this i have had many double kills with it and atleast one triple kill just by using this ability with max combo points on a large group of people.

Stastic things about this move is that with each of the upgrades you can get from this build you get +16 damage each time you get a combo point so with the 5 combo point upgrade you have a maximum damage of 80.

With the max damage on the pounce + the damage on the pulse and the extra you get from rebuilding combo points you can reach a damage combanation of 150+ damage if you manage to regain your combo points fast enough. Just to put that into perspective Swiggins has a base health of 150, Clunk has a base health of 190, and Froggy G has a base health of 115. Now you don’t need me to tell you that Foxy can utterly destroy these characters without much trouble.

Boots

Now you don’t need me to tell you that with the boots Foxy is easily one of if not the most mobile character in the game. With them you can outrun almost any character. However the most useful part of the boots is the actual jump height that you can get from using it. An examploe of this is that you can easily get up from the gap in the middle of aguillon and on the map with the worm (Forgot what its called sorry), you can easily jup up to the health minions from the turret and this is very useful for escaping or going to get quick combo points.

Zurian Mechanic

This is a very useful upgrade to get at the start of the game because it allows you to pounce at the enemy and keep enough combo points to letyou atleast give a small attack and it also cuts down the amount of combo points you need to gain again to get max combo points by 1 which dosn’t sound like much but trust me its very useful.

Mid-Game.

Bug Jars
At the beggining of Mid-Game your gonna spend most of your solar (555) upgrading the damage on your energy pulse and buying the bug jars. This is insanely jusful as each upgrade of it adds a maximum damage of +10 to your energy pulse meaning that it will be alot easier to kill the squishy characters and damage the tanky characters.

Grey Man Group Badge
This upgrade is highly essential for how the build works. One mnore charge to your build allows you to have 7 more damage on the Pounce attack and +16 more damage on on the Energy Pulse.
Alwell of this you willbe able to get alot more damage on your Auto attack later in the build.

Living Treasure Map Badge
Another upgrade that is very useful to the build is the attack speed upgrade. Their isnt really much to say about this but pretty much the main use of the attack speed is the fact that you can gain Combo points much quicker between Pounce and Energy pulse and when you get to upgrading the Melee damage your attacks will be devastating.

Scout Binoculars
By buying this upgrade you dont just increase the range of your attack you increase the area of which the attack does area damage to everyone in it. Foxy is the only character that is this squishy that has such a huge AOE damage output. Aswell as this it makes it much easier for you to destroy the people who are hiding behind the turrets and behind walls.

Cookie Monster Badge
This upgrade is very fun and useful but it’s not as essential as the others due to the nature of this build. It allows your maximum damage on your auto attack to rach 20 damage a hit and im assuming you dont need me to tell you how powerful that is. With the attack speed apgrade and this it makes Foxy much better at dealing with tanky characters like clunk because you can keep at them attacking with your Melee attack untill he starts exploading in which you will already have the combo points required for you to pounce him away from you keeping you safe and allowing you to go back to building up your auto attack damage. You can basically burn down clunks and derpls in seconds because of this upgrade.

End Game

The health

Now you are going to need to buy the health upgrades (I reccomend 2X now and later get the last one). This will put an end to the extreem squishyness of this character… well atleast make it not as bad. You can upgrade your health earlier game if you wanted the Heal over time instead but then you are still way too squishy for my liking,

Electric Bike Lock

By increasing the damage that is on your Pounce you can (as i said earlier) reach about 45 damage which i still think is a lot for a secondary damage move. With this upgrade you get a 20% increase and then the next one is another 20%. Because of this i believe its best to get them both consecutively as a 20% increase to an already 20% increase in quite a big jump.

Now for the stuns and silences
Personally I prefer to buy the “Big Bang Horn” then the “Sentient Rock” and repeat. I prefer this because you get a little bit of both from doing this. Im gonna be staright with you I don’t get these earlier game as they never seem to make that much of a difference to how I play due to the fact that the Pounce already stops things like Raelynns snipe and Froggys spin without the upgrades.

congratulations you have completed the build!!!

Heres a screenshot of what i did earlier.

Tips

There are multiple awesome things that Penny can do:

When fighting against certain characters Foxy has the pounce which she can use to interrupt powerful abilities: Froggy (whirlpool), Lonestar (Dinamight Throw), Raelynn (Snipe)

The knockback can be very useful for pushing back dangerous foes like Clunk’s S’plosion, Aylas rage or knocking down the flying peeps like Vinnie and Yuri.

If you have a Froggy G on your team a double team “Splash Dash” “Pounce” can completely immobalise a foe.

On each of the maps Foxy’s huge jumps can come in handy for multiple situations, like getting onto the health droid area without a jump pad on the worm map (still can’t remember the name) and on aguillon she can jump up the gap in the middle with ease.

When you have full range on her Energy Pulse by going under people you may be able to kill them when hiding behind turrets.

Can’t think of any more sorry. (Foxy is kindof a straight forward character.)

The bad things about the build.

Ok Im going to be honest with you. There are multiple bad points about the build:

Early game you are really squishy so you need to watch out for anything and everything.

When trying to get combo points you can get destroyed quickly because you have to get close to the enemy.

Be careful of when you spend your combo points as they can leave you to be very open.

Before you buy the boots you are very slow so go back to get them as soon as you can.

Because you get the Piggy Bank you miss out on the +10% damage but i think its worth it.

If theres more points ive missed please point them out in the comments.

Foxy is bad at fighting a number of characters so you should watch out for these:
Clunk.
Gnaw.
Skolldir.
Derpl.
Swiggins.
