Guide to Nibbs for Newbies [CONTEST]

Overview

This Is a small bite sized guide for people who want some quick pointers on playing a character without needing to research too much but will walk away perhaps knowing a few things they didnt know or some extra tricks to try out in game! Written by an average Awesomenauts player who mostly plays Nibbs with lots of hours and time dedicated to learning them.

So you wanna play Nibbs?

If you wanna play Nibbs then this is a positive step to learning perhaps some very beneficial tricks, secrets and or skills when it comes to playing Nibbs. This is written not by a competitive Champion but by a committed Awesomenauts player who uses this character as their main when versing others online and has come out with wins most of the time. I am open to criticism or comments so feel free to express yourself!

Things To Remember…

You are NOT a tank.
I personally have seen many people use Nibbs as a damage soaker, It’s very possible to do this as they can get out of combat and sticky situations easily (Which will be shown soon) but take into account a good damage dealer or a group of players can easily take you out.

Guerrilla warfare is one of this characters greatest strengths. Get in, do some damage! break up their defenses but leave when things get too risky for you.

Going in alone is also typically a bad idea even if you just intend to do a little damage and get out, because if they know your coming in alone they could potentially trap you in a way where you cannot escape and then its goodbye NIbbsy! Make sure your partners or atleast one is closeish to you atleast so you have someone to aid you in your escape. There are exceptions to this rule when you can see someone weak, alone and trying to flee, thats when you need to judge for yourself if its worth the risk to chase. making sure your teleport skill is ready is a good way to help you encase it is a trap which will now be explained.

Teleportation, Making stuns useless!

Yes not only does this ability allow you to quickly jump forward or chase someone down if there trying to flee but It can be use to break out of STUN attacks. Something like Swiggins Anchor will still hurt you but if you teleport away the bind will break and you can get out of there!

Be careful though because the ability has the cool down do as mentioned if you go in alone or attempt to keep fighting someone once use another enemy or the same enemy may find a way to stun you or block you in and then its going to be much harder to get out.

The orb that you teleport too is also small and bounces off walls! So if your feeling super daring or are not sure how to get out or get to someone, try bouncing it off some walls to perhaps reach a desirable place easier or if a wall is placed in front of you and there is a hole in it somewhere, you can shoot the orb through the hole and make it too the other side getting you out of harms way leaving them in the dust!

If you know your safe it can be a nice way to finish someone too as it does a decent chunk of damage to someone once you reach the orb (to anyone close to your location) But if combined with your Fire breath attack it can help take down those pesky stragglers and maybe even wipe multiple runners if you can sneak up on them! The Fire breath attack itself is what makes you REALLY scary which will be explained now.

You Are A Fire Starter!

Your strongest and most fearsome attack is the Fire breath technique and for good reason!
when you start off its still useful but could use a little boost. There are upgrades which allow to add More damage, Length of the fire and a large after burn effect. once these upgrades are obtained you become a very strong Cannon that can take a little damage before needing to flee.

The key here would be trying to set your enemy up in a place where they are all bunched up or when its a 3v3 group battle and you can get them cornered or positioned in the line of your fire breath. Doing this has enabled me to easily wipe a whole team by popping up without them knowing and letting them have it! remember to watch your health though as they can kill you before you finish your onslaught so if your too weak YOU CAN TELEPORT OUT WHEN STILL USING YOUR BREATH ATTACK to avoid an embarrassing death.

One way to avoid them counterattacking you whilst you are using this ability is to use it through walls… Yes it goes through walls and enemy turrets! so when pushing a lane or seeing a sneaky enemy on the other side of a wall it can also be used to wipe someone if their careless or feel that they are safe. Burning them when you have the afterburn ability also shows you where invisible enemies are as they are constantly still burning for a short while.

The last brief thing to mention is your basic attacks and its upgrades as this can help you become a more tougher dragon.

Who Needs A Healer When Your Nibbs?

Not only do you have the obvious health Regen and Extra health upgrades that every awesomenauts typically gets but his primary attack has upgrades that allow you to get lots of health when at max “rage” (when you have hit an enemy a few times within a few seconds) There is also an upgrade for your teleporter on upon teleporting you get max rage.

By getting all of these you can become a potentially high damage dealing attacker with that will only need to leave combat momentarily to heal quickly and efficiently even while fleeing you will be healing due to you using teleport! Even if you choose to attack relentlessly making sure you keep your rage up can determine you slaughtering them or dying as you will be constantly healing whilst they may need to rely on healthpacks.

To conclude…

All the above mentioned is purely things I have done in the past to try and gain an edge on the enemy and have seen the benefits they all hold in games. By doing the above or remembering the benefits or plays nibbs and using their abilities in certain situations it can really help your team out!

Feel free to experiment and play around with how YOU want to play her. She could be more deadly if not focused on healing so much but I feel a good focus on both helps a lot.

Hope you learned some new things from this short guide and you get out there and be awesome!
