Overview
This guide may or may not provide a possible avenue for fixing the slow motion issue for Nioh.DISCLAIMER:I am not responsible for burned CPUs, dead SSDs or thermonuclear war. Please do some research if you have any concerns about modifications made using this guide! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your PC, I will laugh at you.
Guide
I believe I may have found a fix for the slow motion I have been having with Nioh on my PC. This guide worked for my configuration and It may not work on yours:
CPU: AMD FX 8350
GPU: GTX 770 4GB
RAM: 8GB DDR3
HDD 7200 rpm
Windows 10 Pro 64bit
To fix the issue I had to use a 3rd party program called Process Lasso. Rather than struggling to explain what it does, here is their description from their website:
Windows, by design, allows programs to monopolize your CPU — leading to hangs, micro-lags, freezing (even crashing) and delays in your keystroke and/or mouse actions.Process Lasso is NOT yet another task manager… Instead, it is an advanced process priority optimization and system automation utility. It offers process priority optimization, CPU core affinity optimization, power plan automation, automated rules, and so much more; you name it (within this area), and Process Lasso does it!
Process Lasso has a PRO version, you do not need to buy PRO in order to do the tweaks that worked for me.
EDIT: It was brought to my attention that the task manager built in Windows is perfectly capable of performing this task. So, an easier way to check if this tweak could work for you, is to try and make the adjustments from Task Manager. (thanks for the feedback)
smallprint: I am unaware at this point if Process Lasso FREE has any features that would make it better. I will research and find if it does anything special.
Now that the fluff is out of the way, let’s get to some practical steps.
1. Install Process Lasso
2. Launch Nioh
3. Launch Process Lasso
4. In Process Lasso you will see a list of all the processes runing on your PC (locate Nioh).
5. Right click Nioh and set the following:
-Priority Class>Always>High
-I/O Priority>Always>High
And that is it. This is everything I had to change for my PC to stop Nioh from going in slow motion every time loot would drop or there would just be a lot of particle effects.
Please be mindful of your configuration though and consider tweaking other settings where possible.
I play with everything on low, 1080p@60fps.
I hope this fixes the slow motion problem from you. I have never written a guide before so, if you can’t understand the steps or you have any idea to make it better, please let me know and I’ll make the necessary adjustments.
Cheers,
Catalin
