Overview
Those pirates rule LTS. Well not anymore. There is still one crazy tactic that somehow works but no one tries.
Those bloody pirates.
There they stand in a group guns at the ready. Laughing at you drowning in rum. They open fire and seem to effortlessly destroy all that come in their sight. I mean who likes getting murdered at range. You try all sorts of things to safe your life but the pirates always prevail and defeat you. Is there no way to defeat the pirates. There is. But we’ll go over what doesn’t work first.
What doesn’t work against pirates.
- Running away
- Attacking them one by one
- Hiding behind things
- Turtling with a shield
- Making a shield wall or phalanx and standing in one place.
- Trying to use the yumi bow against them
- Trying to use the crossbow against them.
- Complaing how OP the pirates are
- Pushing F10
What works against the pirates
- Growing some bloody balls, grouping up in a loose formation and charging full speed no hesitation into the pirates yelling and screaming!
What?
Yes that works. It sounds crazy and it is but its really the only thing you can do. And it works surprisingly well. It worked in the first beta build before pirates were nerfed too. Now its an unstoppable plan.
I’ve seen those things that don’t work all tried. Yes an entire team in LTS pushed F10 but the pirates still won though without any kills. I’m sure you’ve tried some of those things too. You must know they don’t work very well.
But grouping up showing no fear you can massacre those pirates. Pirates aren’t that scary. If you charge at them they get destroyed.
People say all the time in LTS “oh that’s a stupid idea shut up ♥♥♥♥♥♥”. I get them to try it for one round and guess what happens. We win.
Pirates are pretty bad at group melee fighting. And that’s the situation you want I get them in. They can hold their own in 1v1 but in groups their low health, reach and damage makes them easy pickings.
The blunderbuss can only one hit point blank a ninja and pirate in the chest. All other classes will survive. Though point blank shots rarely happen anyway. And if they aim at you head as a heavy class they still won’t kill you as half the pellets miss.
Shields also reduce damage by a further 70%. On top of the damage reduction due to armour.
Currently the blunderbuss can deal a maximum of 126 base damage. It fires 10 pellets. Its first pellet deals 45 base damage. The rest deal 9 base damage. Against a spartan that’s 32 damage and 7 damage. Point blank in the chest that’s 95 damage maximum. Now point blank shots with the blundy are unlikely anyway. And a spartan has a shield. Reduce 95 by 70% you get 28.5 but rounding up each pellet of damage to the nearest integer the damage against a Spartans shield is 37 damage point blank. And the dum pirate bigger still has his gun out. So you take that like a champ them stab him a few times.
And spartan is weaker that the Viking, samurai and knight in terms of armour. Pirate guns deal less damage against them.
Pistole does 84 base damage. Takes 3 chest hits to kill a knight.
Pistole has that deviation. They won’t hit you. The most skilled player in the the would couldn’t. It only hits you because of luck.
It may surprise you but its actually harder for the pirates to hit you at close range. Guns have a firing delay which puts everyone off. So they are more likely to miss you when you are close up screaming and possibly throwing something at them.
If you have shields keep it high. Samurai and knight have enough health to charge in without shields.
This tactic can work with ninjas. Though with many casualties.
This tactic of charging in can mean no one actually dies to the guns. You might lose a couple in melee but no one really dies to the guns unless they are already weak. Pirates have been nerfed that much now. In the early days when blunderbuss did 200 damage had 8 pellets and a lower spread it was more of a cannon and the pistole dealt 120 damage you lost quite a few on the charge and had a chance of losing in melee. Now its too easy.

You do need even numbers though. Close to even anyway.
Conclusion
Its time to grow some balls. That’s the pirates main weapon. Fear. That’s why he’s winning. Its a video game its easy to show no fear.
Get in a group and charge in. It works believe me. And its satisfying cutting down three pirates as the rest of your team murders the rest around you.
Anything else either means you are standing in one place or running away. That gives the pirate the advantage. Range is his advantage. Take it from him.
This strategy was used by armies for almost 300 years. Until the invention and mass production of machine guns. And they actually died. Died in one shot too they couldn’t take a hit and fight on. You can. You can take many hits and you are in a video game and yet you are the cowards.
The pirates are not hard to kill not hard to beat. You just gotta keep moving forward. It works. Trust me.
