Configuration for the (unrecognized) Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari GTE Wheel. for DiRT 3 Complete Edition

Configuration for the (unrecognized) Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari GTE Wheel.

Overview

Make the game recognize the wheel and create a key assignment for the T300 Ferrari GTE Wheel. You can most likely use this guide for other Thrustmaster Ferrari wheels or even other unsupported wheels.

Steps

  • Download tm_t300rs.xml
    [link]
    and put it in the the following folder
    C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonDiRT 3 Complete Editionactionmap
    You will be able to reassign different keys in the game. But I have configured the file how I like it for my Ferrari GTE Wheel.

  • Open actionMapPaths.xml with an editor
    C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonDiRT 3 Complete EditionactionmapactionMapPaths.xml
    and add the following line after line 38

    <xmlreader processor=”ActionMap2″ filename=”actionmap/tm_t300rs.xml” map=”UPDATE” pool=”UPDATE_TEMPORARY” />

  • Open devicesetup.xml with an editor
    C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonDiRT 3 Complete Editionforcefeedbackdevicesetup.xml
    and add the following line after line 46

    <FFBDevice name=”Thrustmaster T300RS Racing wheel” scaleForce=”0.6″ scaleFriction=”0.35″ baseFriction=”0.0″ maxFriction=”35.0″ scaleEffects=”0.85″ delay=”0.0″/>

  • Start DIRT 3.
    Go in control setup.
    Load the T300 preset.

Wheel options

By default there are configured dead zones. But dead zones for wheels is pretty bad.
I configured them like that:

Force Feedback

I also made a guide that improves Force Feedback.
