Overview

Tips and Strategies on how to get Every Achievement. Complete list of Missable achievements.

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Achievement Guide!

Here you will find detailed tips and strategies on how to conquer every achievement that Oath in Felghana has to offer.

NOTE: In order to get every achievement, you will need to play through the game several times on various difficulty settings. That said, you can get most achievements during the first playthrough.

There are several achievements that are missable during a normal playthrough. The following is an exhaustive list of all missable achievements.

Game Over: Return to Title

In regards to the last two achievements, unfortunately, there is no way to permanently unlock the optional bosses. If you don’t beat these bosses once you reach them, you’ll have to beat Infermo / beat Nightmare Boss Rush again in order to face them.

Cheats

If you beat Boss Rush on Nightmare and then subsequently beat the bonus boss that appears afterwards, you will unlock cheats. Cheats can only be used during a regular playthrough. They do not work in Time Attack.

Using cheats will void certain achievements. The difficulty based achievements and the speed run achievement will not unlock when using cheats (if anyone wants to test that though). You will not be able to access the bonus boss after beating Inferno if you use cheats (I have tested that).

The following achievements are confirmed (by other players – see credits) to be obtainable while using Cheats:

Achievement
That’s the Last Time Kid
Forever Alone
You Can Stop Now
Like a Boss

Note that ‘No Fall Mode’ (activated by pressing F1 on Easy or Very Easy difficulty) doesn’t count as a cheat.

DIFFICULTY BASED ACHIEVEMENTS

These are earned by beating the game at the specified or higher difficulty. All these achievements will be earned after completing an Inferno playthrough.

MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: None.

Hollow Victory

Hollow Victory
Beat the game on Very Easy difficulty or higher.

Mildly Manly

Genos Who?

Genos Who?
Beat the game on Nightmare difficulty or higher.

Bearer of the Biggest Sword

Bearer of the Biggest Sword
Beat the game on Inferno.

Inferno difficulty unlocks after beating the game on any other difficulty.

ESCORTING ACHIEVEMENTS

In order to get these achievements, you MUST complete BOTH escort sidequests on EVERY difficulty level.

However, you don’t have to play through the entire game six times in order to get these achievements. Once you’ve completed the Abandoned Mine and escorted Elena to safety, you can stop and move on to the next difficulty level if you wish.

Make sure to keep track of which difficulties you’ve escorted Christof and Elena on, or these achievements can get VERY annoying.

NOTE: Both of these achievements can be obtained while using Cheats (confirmed by [YCT] Rasmus).

MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: [That’s the Last Time, Kid], [Forever Alone].

That’s the Last Time, Kid – [MISSABLE] | [Cheat Safe]

That’s the Last Time, Kid
Escorted Christof to safety on every difficulty level.

This achievement is MISSABLE, and will become unavailable once you complete the Abandoned Mine.

After completing the Zone of Lava, go to Valestein Castle. There should be a maid outside talking to the guard. Talk to her and accept her quest to escort Christof back to the castle. Next, go to the entrance of the Illburns Ruins. Christof will be there. Talk to him and guide him back to the castle. Just be patient when dealing with the monsters and you shouldn’t have any problems.

NOTE: This achievement can be obtained while using Cheats (confirmed by [YCT] Rasmus).

Forever Alone – [MISSABLE] | [Cheat Safe]

Forever Alone
Escorted Elena to safety on every difficulty level.

This achievement is MISSABLE, and will become unavailable once you complete the Elderm Mountains.

After completing the Abandoned Mine, you’ll find that Elena has left the town again. You’ll find her at the docks. Talk to her and guide her back to town.

Note that once you reach the save point at Redmont Bridge, you can get the achievement Legacy Pervert.

NOTE: This achievement can be obtained while using Cheats (confirmed by [YCT] Rasmus).

ACTION ACHIEVEMENTS

These achievements can be obtained during any normal playthrough. These achievements require you to perform some sort of specific action in order to unlock them. Most achievements fall under this category.

MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: [Legacy Pervert], [Oblivious or Insensitive?].

Oblivious or Insensitive? – [MISSABLE]

Oblivious or Insensitive?
Sold Randolph’s ring to Cynthia.

This achievement is MISSABLE, and becomes unavailable after completing the Elderm Mountains. You get the ring by selling 260 total Ravel Ore to Antonio.

Once you sell the ring to Cynthia, you’ll get this achievement.

However, the reward you get for giving the ring back to Randolph is far better. In fact, on higher difficulties, it is highly recommended you get Randolph’s reward.

If you want Randolph’s reward, make a new save once you’ve acquired the ring. Next, sell the ring to Cynthia for the achievement. Reload you previous save. Now you have the ring, the achievement, and eventually Randolph’s reward.

NOTE: You can give the ring to Randolph anytime after completing the Abandoned Mine.

Legacy Pervert – [MISSABLE]

Legacy Pervert
“Measured” Elena.

You can only get this while you’re escorting Elena back to town.

This achievement is MISSABLE once Elena is back in town, or if you complete the Elderm Mountains without escorting her back to Redmont.

In order to get the achievement, bring Elena to the save point by the Redmont bridge. Push her into the left side of the save point. After a second or so, you will get the achievement.

The name of this achievement is a reference to similar acts of perversion (and associated achievements) in Ys I and Ys II.

Beast Master

Beast Master
Encountered every enemy in the game, excluding bosses.

You have to kill each species of monster at least once in order to get this achievement.

You can check how many monsters you have left to defeat by going to the menu, choosing the Topic tab, and selecting Monsters.

Consult an FAQ Already

Consult an FAQ Already
Died over 10 times on a single boss.

This one is easy. Face any boss, and then proceed to die 11 times. Death number 11 gets you the achievement.

If you plan on making an attempt at Boss Rush on Nightmare, you’ll likely get this achievement without trying.

Showoff

Showoff
Defeated 5 or more enemies (except Mozgouz) at the same time.

Once you get the Wind Magic, lure five low-level enemies together (ideally enemies you can kill in one hit) and release a charged wind magic. They should all die simultaneously, earning you this achievement.

This is a very easy achievement to get, with many places where you can get it. One such place is in the Tigray Quarry. From the storehouse save point, go east two rooms. In this area, there should be a group of four goblins down some stairs. Lure a fifth enemy down and then release a charged Wind Magic for the achievement.

Social Butterfly

Social Butterfly
Spoke with every character in the game at least once.

If you talk to everybody you meet, you should get this achievement after you talk to a certain person in the Valestein Castle dungeon.

You can check to see how many people you still need to talk to by going to the menu, choosing the Topic tab, and selecting Character.

Wanderer From Ys

Wanderer From Ys
Spent over 10 hours in a single playthrough.

This is easy enough. Just spend more than 10 hours in a single playthrough to get this achievement.

TREASURE HUNT ACHIEVEMENTS

These are achievements that can be obtained during any normal playthrough. These achievements involve finding items (either from chests or out in the open) in order to complete them.

In regards to chests, there are two types in the game (discounting Elena’s, oh Legacy Pervert). One Treasure Chest is colored brown with black outlines, and contains either Raval Ore or Katol Elixirs. The other type of Treasure Chest is colored red with golden outlines. In addition to holding quest specific items, these red colored Treasure Chests also contains Jewels and Equipment, which are required for two of the four achievements listed below.

MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: [Proficient Plunderer].

Proficient Plunderer – [MISSABLE]

Proficient Plunderer
Completed Anya’s treasure-hunt game.

This achievement is MISSABLE, and becomes unavailable after completing the Elderm Mountains.

After completing the Abandoned Mine, go back to Redmont and talk to Anya. Agree to play with her. She’ll tell you that she’s scattered four treasures around the town, specifically four stashes of Ravel Ore. Finding them all gets you the achievement.

Anya will give hints to the location of every treasure. Just talk to her until you get the hint you need, even if she says “no more hints” (she’s lying).

The treasure locations are listed in the spoiler below.

Treasure Location Spoilers:

1. On the rafters in the Church.
2. In the garden beside Elena’s house.
3. Behind the support beam in the inn.
4. Behind the water trough in the pikkard pen.

WARNING SPOILERS:
The pictures below show the precise locations of the four treasures. The Ravel Ore is visible in each picture.

A Talent for Forgery

A Talent For Forgery
Maxed out all equipment.

Obtain all equipment, and then have Adonis temper all equipment to max level to obtain the achievement.

It’s easy enough to get once you have enough Ravel Ore. You can get nearly all the Ravel Ore you need from chests. As for equipment, most of it can be bought from Cynthia’s Item Shop. The rest is found in the various dungeons of the game:

Small Shield – Found in the Illburns Ruins.
Broad Sword – Found in the Zone of Lava.
Battle Armor – Found in the East Wing of Valestein Castle.
Battle Shield – Found in the West Wing of Valestein Castle.
Battle Sabre – Found in the sewers beneath Valestein Castle.
Brave Sword – You get this from Chester at a certain point.
Ravel Armor – Found in the Dark Shrine.
Ravel Shield – The blacksmith Adonis makes this for you. Requires a special item from the Dark Shrine and 1000 Ravel Ore.

Specific locations are listed in the spoiler below.

Weapon Location Spoilers:

Small Shield – At the first four-way junction of the Illburns Ruins, take the south path. This should lead you to a room full of weak teleporting sorcerers. The shield is located in a chest at the end.

Broad Sword – In the Zone of Lava, the first lava covered path you encounter leads both north and south. Taking the north path leads to a new area with a narrow path west, plagued by Fazle (the small bird enemy), and periodic dips into deeper lava. The sword is located in a chest at the end of this path.

Battle Armor – Located in the East Wing basement of Valestein Castle. Go to the far west side of the basement and make your way up the wall. You’ll find the chest containing the armor at the top.

Battle Shield – Located in the West Wing basement of Valestein Castle. Go to the far east side of the basement and make your way up the wall. At the top, you’ll find a crack in the wall. Break it with Earth Magic to reveal the chest containing the shield.

Battle Sabre – In the sewers under Valestein Castle, you can see the chest at the back of the first room, surrounded by four spore-spitting plants. To get to it, you have to make your way to the third room, climb the wall, and follow the upper-most path west to the chest. Wind Magic is required.

Brave Sword – Before going to Genos Island, talk to Chester and he’ll give you the sword.

Ravel Armor – This is found in the Dark Shrine in a large room filled with skeleton warriors. There is also a platform supported by four large pillars. In order to get to it, you need to fall onto this platform from the room above. In the room above, there is one platform that has a hole in the middle. Falling down this hole will land you on the desired platform. Follow the plaform to the chest containing the armor.

Ravel Shield – Located in the same room as the Ravel Armor. There are two paths leading out of the room. Go to the south path. A chest containing a special item will be visible. With this item and 1000 Ravel Ore, visit Adonis. He will make you the Ravel Shield.

Bedazzled

Bedazzled
Acquired every jewel.

In order to get this achievement, you need to collect all 9 Jewels (3 per magic bracelet). Once you find all the Jewels, this achievement will unlock.

The Jewel locations are as follows:

Ruby:
1. Found in the Tigray Quarry.
2. Found in the Illburns Ruins.
3. Found in the Valestein Castle Clock Tower.

Emerald:
1. Found in the Zone of Lava.
2. Found in the Abandoned Mine.
3. Found in the Dark Shrine.

Topaz:
1. Found inside the Elderim Mountains.
2. Found in the East Wing of Valestein Castle.
3. Found in the Dark Shrine.

Specific Ruby locations are listed in the spoiler below.

Ruby Location Spoilers:

Ruby 1 – Located in the Tigray Quarry, in the room just before reaching the room with the Mayor. You can see the chest, it’s transparent though. To make it tangible, light the unlit torch on the wall. Once tangeable, collect your first ruby.

Ruby 2 – There is a four way junction just before the ritual room in the Illburns Ruins (the ritual room is where you fight Chester for the first time). At this intersection, take the south path to the next room. Continue south to the chest where the ruby is located.

Ruby 3 – In the first room of the Valestein Castle Clock Tower, make your way to the lift that leads to the exit. Beneath this lift is the chest containing the ruby. Drop beneath the lift to claim the final ruby.

Specific Emerald locations are listed in the spoiler below.

Emerald Location Spoilers:

Emeral 1 – From the savepoint in the depths of the Zone of Lava (the one outside the area where you fought the lava-worm boss), take the path north to the next area. The first thing you’ll see is a bunch of monsters. Just above them, there is a rockey platform on the left, and one the right. Make your way onto the right platform, and use Wind Magic to make your way onto the left one. You will find the chest containing the emerald on this platform.

Emerald 2 – Make your way down the Abandoned Mine until you reach a bridge leading to a chasm. If you drop down into the chasm, you will land in a swarm of Duradels (large blue goblins with a hammer) in the room below. Instead, use Wind Magic to cross the chasm to a hidden platform. On the platform, you will find a chest and three Duradels. Defeat the Duradels and open the chest to claim the second emerald.

Emerald 3 – After you beat the Sorcerer boss for the last time, make your way into the second area of the Dark Shrine. This is the area where you first encounter the Doonos (a mainly stationary enemy that shoots a powerful beam of energy out of its eye). Make your way along until you reach a jump requiring Wind Magic to cross (or a very precise double-jump). Once across, you should see an indent in the wall of the structure you’re standing on. In the indent is the chest containing the emerald. Drop down and use Wind Magic to claim your prize.

Specific Topaz locations are listed in the spoiler below.

Topaz Location Spoilers:

Topaz 1 – Just after Dogi gives you the Terra Bracelet, make your way east to a dead end with a cracked wall. Break the cracked wall, and enter the new room. There is a savepoint and a chest here. The chest contains the first topaz.

Topaz 2 – In the East Wing of Valestein Castle, make your way to the room with the rotating stairway. The stairway has a number of cracks in it that you’ll need to jump over as you make your way up. At one point, you’ll see a platform beneath the stairway with a chest on it. Use double jump and wind magic to get onto the platform. Open the chest to get the second topaz.

Topaz 3 – The final Jewel of the game is found in the area where you encounter the first Levynade (the last non-boss enemy of the game). In the vicinity of the Levynade, there are a number of platforms that you need to use in order to proceed further into the Dark Shrine. Make your way across the platforms until you reach the last one. You should see the path leading onwards, blocked by rotating spikes. Beneath the path is a platform containing a chest, also blocked by rotating spikes. Use Wind Magic to slip beneath the path onwards, and onto the platform with the chest. Opening the chest reveals the final Topaz.

Savior of Swine

Savior of Swine
Saved all of Hugo’s pikkards.

After beating the Abandoned Mine, talk to Hugo. He’ll tell you that his Pikkards are sick and that he needs a special herb from the Elderm Mountains to cure them. There are four of these herbs to collect. Once you’ve collected all four herbs, go back to Hugo and give him the herbs to unlock the achievement.

The first three are found before the first save point. The last herb is found before the large cave leading into the heart of the mountains.

The exact locations of the herbs are listed in the spoiler below.

Herb Location Spoilers:

Herb 1 – The first herb is located in the second area up the Elderm Mountains. It’s in a little crevice, behind some grass.

Herb 2 – The second herb is found inside the second area of the first cave you encounter. A little ways up this part of the cave, there will be a path leading east to a new room. You do not need to go east into this room. Instead, go as far west as possible until you reach a dead end. The herb will be located at the end of the dead end.

Herb 3 – The third herb is found inside the third area of the first cave you encounter, just before the exit. It is located behind some icycles. Shoot the icycles with fire, and then retrieve the herb.

Herb 4 – The fourth herb is found out in the open, in the area right outside the enterance to the cave leading into the heart of the mountain. Make your way down from the plateau where the cave entrance is found, and then go north to a dead end. The herb should be just visible behind some grass.

WARNING SPOILERS:
The pictures below show the precise locations of each of the four herbs.

GRINDING ACHIEVEMENTS

These are achievements that can be obtained during any normal playthrough. These achievements require you to kill a set number of a specific enemy in order to unlock them.

It is easier to get these achievements if you come back to them once Adol is at a higher level (unless you’re on Very Easy difficulty, in which case… meh).

MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: None.

The Exterminator

The Exterminator
Killed 2,000 Mozgouz across all playthroughs.

The best place to kill Mozgouz is the area with the monster swarm of about 60 or so. Just keep killing them until the achievement unlocks.

28 Maids Later

28 Maids Later
Killed 500 Selnades across all playthroughs.

The best place to kill Selnades is in the basement area of the East Wing of Valestein Castle. Just keep killing them until the achievement unlocks.

Master of Futility

Master of Futility
“Killed” 50 immortal beasts without using the Silver Chimes.

In order to get this achievement, go to the Dark Shrine and “kill” 50 skeleton warriors and/or ghost sorcerers without having the Silver Chimes equipped. No need to worry about respawning them, they’ll get up on their own after a short span.

Once you’ve “killed” 50 immortal beasts, the achievement will unlock.

SPEEDRUN ON VERY EASY

There are a number of achievements that are easiest to get on Very Easy difficulty, including the speedrun achievement. Some of these achievements are incompatable with the speedrun achievement, so make sure to keep your last save game just before fighting the final boss.

MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: [Never Smelled the Roses].

Never Smelled the Roses – [MISSABLE]

Never Smelled the Roses
Beat the game in under 5 hours.

Technically, this achievement is MISSABLE if you don’t complete your speedrun within five hours. It’s also technically possible to get this achievement on Inferno difficulty, except that’s an achievement all on its own (Achievement Name: Catching (on) Fire).

If you’re doing this as an extra run on Very Easy, you should have no problem getting this achievement (unless you forget to equip your shiny new sword – Very Easy was SO easy that I couldn’t tell the difference).

You’ll get this achievement after the end credits, assuming your playthrough clocks in under five hours.

In order to get this achievement, you basically have to be flying through the game at ludicrous speed! Skipping movies and text is an absolute must.

More Like “Adol the Yellow”!

More Like “Adol the Yellow”!
Began the game on Very Easy.

Find monkey. Put monkey in front of keyboard. Walk away for an hour. Order xtra large pizza. Eat entire pizza. Come back. Remove kittens (?) from keyboard. Congradulations. Your word processor now contains the complete works of Shakespear and a decorative furball (?!), and you just ate an entire pizza! Don’t you feel an OVERWHELMING sense of accomplishment?

Now kill it by getting this achievement.

Hmm… Needs more sarcasm.

GLADOS: Starting the game on Very Easy difficulty gets you this “achievement”. There. Don’t you feel an overwhelming sense of achievement?

WHEATLY: Um… I’m thinking… yes?

GLADOS: You deserve cake.

Simply starting the game on Very Easy gets you the Achievement.

Bad At Platformers

Bad At Platformers
Enabled “No-Fall” mode.

On Very Easy and Easy difficulties, pressing F1 enables No-Fall mode, and unlocks this achievement. Pressing it again disables it (it disables No-Fall mode, you can’t disable an achievement).

There is one point in the game where you need to fall through the floor in order to get a quest-critical item, so be wary of having this continuously enabled (if this isn’t your first playthrough, you’ll know what I’m talking about).

You Can Stop Now – [Cheat Safe]

You Can Stop Now
Achieved max level.

This achievement unlocks once you reach level 60.

There are two methods to unlock this achievement.

Method 1

Unlock cheats and use the leveling cheat until you reach level 60 (this has been confirmed to work by damag0r).

In order to use cheats, you need to conquer Boss Rush on Nightmare and then beat the optional boss afterwards (it’s not that easy).

NOTE: You can still unlock [Like a Boss] regardless of whether you used cheats.

Method 2

This method a lot more time consuming as it requires leveling up the hard way (easier than unlocking cheats, but possibly more frustrating than trying to beat Nightmare Boss Rush).

After getting the Never Smelled the Roses achievement, reload your last save file on Very Easy (should be right before you fight the final boss) and start leveling up.

The area with a group of five Levynades (they’re the last non-boss enemy you encounter) is a good place to grind up to level 55.

After that, it’s faster to level up against the swarm of 60 or so Mozgouz in the Zone of Lava.

First, equip your weakest weapon (ideally it will still be at level 1). Next, equip Wind Magic. Attack the Mozgouz until you have a combo of 99. Then release a charged Wind Magic to kill them. Alternatively, you can just attack them with your sword until they’re dead.

Even using this method, it will still probably take a couple of hours to get to level 60.

Like a Boss – [Cheat Safe]

Like a Boss
Defeated the final boss without taking any damage.

At level 60 on Very Easy, equipped with max level Ravel Armor and Shield, you are immune to damage from the final boss.

Once you beat the final boss without taking damage, this achievement will unlock.

NOTE: You can get this achievement even if you use cheats to get to level 60.

Alternatively, if you can beat the final boss on Nightmare in Time Attack mode, you probably have a decent chance of beating him on Normal without taking any damage.

BOSS RUSH ACHIEVEMENTS

The first playthrough unlocks Time Attack mode.

In Time Attack, you can fight each boss individually, or you can try Boss Rush on either Normal, Hard, or Nightmare.

NOTE: You have to beat boss rush on all difficulties to get all three boss rush achievements. If you find you’re having trouble against any of these bosses, check out Rastopher’s Boss Guide.

None of these achievements are missable since you cannot get them through ordinary play.

More Like “Subordinate Crawl”!

More Like “Subordinate Crawl”!
Conquered Boss Rush on Normal.

If you’ve beaten the game on Normal or higher, this shouldn’t be too difficult to get. If you find yourself unable to beat this, you can practice against each boss individually, and focus your attention on the ones that give you the most trouble. Once you’re ready, try again.

Beating Boss Rush on Normal difficulty unlocks this achievement.

Harder Than Hardcore

Harder Than Hardcore
Conquered Boss Rush on Hard.

If you haven’t beaten the game on Hard difficulty or higher, I suggest trying out each boss individually before trying Boss Rush on Hard. At the very least, you should make an attempt against the Final Boss and Chester 2.

Beating Boss Rush on Hard difficulty unlocks this achievement.

Adol the All-Crusher

Adol the All-Crusher
Conquered Boss Rush on Nightmare.

This is the most difficult achievement in the game. It’s even harder than beating the game on Inferno difficulty. In addition, the Master of the Mountains bonus boss (beating him is worth an achievement) can only be accessed by beating Boss Rush on Nightmare. There is no way to get back to this bonus boss except by beating Nightmare Boss Rush again.

As long as you’re persistent and determined, you’ll eventually get this achievement. With that said, lets talk about the strategy for conquering this colossus.

Before even attempting this, you’ll probably want to practice each boss individually to get the strategy and timing down. The better you understand these bosses, the better your chances of a successful run.

Before making the attempt, there are some final preparations you need to make.

  1. Make sure you can set aside three or four hours of your day for the attempt (just in case). Don’t try this at 2:00AM, you’ll regret it.
  2. Make sure you’re fresh and well rested.
  3. One large bottle of pop (of your choice), cause you’re going to need it. Maybe a snack as well.
  4. There’s a bonus boss at the end. You’ll need to do this all over again if you don’t beat him after this attempt (he’s actually one of the easier bosses if you know what you’re doing).

Now you’re ready. Feel intimidated?

When making the attempt, you may have to stop and take a break. Don’t worry about leaving Adol’s dead corps lying there while whatever boss you’ve stopped at continues to mutilate it (it’s just a flesh wound). As long as you don’t press [Return to Title], you can come back to your attempt at any time.

If something unexpected happens (like your game crashes, or your Cat decides to ‘Play’ for you), don’t make another attempt. Wait a couple of days (maybe get in some more practice) before trying again.

When you do finally manage to beat Boss Rush on Nightmare, truly, congratulations! You’ve just earned the hardest achievement in the game!

BONUS BOSSES

There are two bonus bosses hidden in the game. One is accessed after the end credits on Inferno difficulty. The other is accessed after beating Boss Rush on Nightmare. These are the ONLY means of getting to these boss fights. There is no means of accessing them through the menu (XSEED, I’d like to make a formal feature request).

MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: [Tastes Like Chicken], [Hardt Laid Bare].

Yes, I consider these missable since (especially Hardt Laid Bare) they’re so hard to get to.

Tastes Like Chicken – [MISSABLE*]

Tastes Like Chicken
Defeated “The Deadliest Cuteness.”

This is the hardest, most frightfully difficult, most unforgivingly, painfully, frustratingly, infuriatingly, deadliest cuteness (what?) of a boss fight in the entire game! And once you know how to fight it, it’s actually not that bad. I found it easier than some of the other bosses the game has to offer.

The only way to access this boss is by beating the final boss on Inferno difficulty, and then watching the ending of the game. After the end credits, the boss fight will start. If you get to level 51 before fighting the final boss and you’ve practiced the final boss in Time Attack on Nightmare, getting to The Deadliest Cuteness isn’t too difficult, just annoying.

Since it is a bit difficult to get to, and Rastopher’s Boss Guide doesn’t include this boss fight, I’m going to include some tips on how to beat this guy. I consider this spoilers so…

Strategies for Fighting the Deadliest Cuteness:

Rather than starting out fighting the boss itself, the fight starts out against three of the most annoying non-boss enemies the game has to offer, and all three have been beefed up considerably. You’re going to want as much health as possible before getting to the Deadliest Cuteness itself. Ideally, you should still have the Spirit Necklace after defeating the three annoyances, after which the Deadliest Cuteness will wake up.

Earth Magic is critical to this boss fight, so make sure you always have that equipped. There are two points where this boss is stationary. These are the ideal times to attack it with charged Earth Magic (in general, it’s both too dangerous and too inefficient to attack it with direct physical attacks). The rest of the time, just dodge around as much as possible, and use Earth Magic to defend. Also, during the onslaught (you’ll know what I mean), use boost when possible to help reduce the amount of damage you’ll inevitably take. That’s about it for strategy. The rest is just practice on the timing and such.

There’s probably a video on Youtube if you want to get an idea of what this boss is like.

* This achievement is not obtainable during normal gameplay.

Hardt Laid Bare – [MISSABLE*]

Hardt Laid Bare
Bested the master of the mountains in one-on-one combat.

Ironically, I actually found this boss harder than the deadliest cuteness. The deadliest cuteness is supposed to be harder… oh well.

The only way to get to this boss fight is by beating Boss Rush on Nightmare. There is no menu unlock to get back to this boss. Beating Nightmare Boss Rush is the ONLY way to get to it. By the time you do get to it, your concentration is probably warn to a frazzle.

Since this boss is near impossible to get to (I cannot stress this enough), and Rastopher’s Boss Guide doesn’t include this boss, I’m going to include some tips and strategies on how to conquer the Master of the Mountains. Again, spoilers, so…

Strategies for Fighting the Master of the Mountains:

First note that (while it doesn’t look like it) the arena is actually a large rectangle.

You’re going to want to use Earth Magic for both attack and defense.

If you run into any of the corners of the arena and then continuously do single jumps (not double jumps), the boss will not attack at all (if done right). You can check out damag0r’s video of this trick in action (see spoiler video below).

An easy way to deal the full damage of a charged Earth Magic attack is to guide the boss along the south boundary of the arena (north bounrady works too). If you run back and forth from corner to corner along the boundary, the boss will follow, and very rarely deviate from this path. After that, timing the Earth Magic attacks is crucial. The ideal time to unleash charged Earth Magic on the boss is when the boss attacks, because the boss will stop moving and be vulnerable during that time (do note that the window of opportunity is very small). Of course, this depends on the attack. It will probably take a few tries to figure out the boss’ attacks, as well as what works and what doesn’t.

Forcing the boss into a corner with Earth Magic or boosted attacks is a good strategy for dealing with this boss. If you get the boss to jump into a corner (use the corner trick and then stop jumping), unleash Earth Magic or a slew of boosted attacks on the boss while he’s there.

This boss has a boost mode! During boost mode, attacks from the boss are more powerful, varied, and deadly. Conversely, the boss sacrifices defense, meaning he takes more damage when attacked. Do note that he will counterattack if he takes damage while executing a certain attack. It’s definitely advantageous to attack the boss while the boss is in boost mode, but it’s also dangerous. If possible, use boost during this time to beef up your defense, or avoid the boss using the corner trick. That’s the last bit of advice I can give on this boss.

Again, there are videos on Youtube if you want to get an idea of what this boss is like.

OVERACHIEVER (The Final Achievement)

The depiction for Overachiever is very accurate, don’t you think?

Overachiever
Completed all other achievements.

Once you get all other achievements, you’ll get this achievement automatically. Congratulations. It was a long and hardt journey, and the nightmare at the end was nothing short of a Gauntlet.

After getting every achievement, I wanted to create an in depth achievement guide of my own. It was a lot harder than I thought it’d be.
