Overview
As great as a game Psychonauts is, the decision to not allow you to go back to camp after beating the game is idiotic. Luckily there is an easy way to do just this!
[WARNING] List Of Things To Note Before Doing This
1. This guide is assuming you’re past the point of no return, defeated Coach Oliander and are now trapped in the Meat Circus whether you have finished the game or not. If you are not in this situation, then you really have no reason to use this exploit.
2. This guide uses an exploit involving Lungfishopolis and the loading zone leading to the final boss fight. Make sure to gather ALL FIGMENTS/COBWEBS/VAULTS before performing this exploit as by the end of you will not be able to do so!
3. Doing this exploit will not allow you to get time-based achievements.
These include:
- Made Man
- Wolpaw Says Thanks
- Maybe It’s The Hair
- I Think They Were Impressed
- Holiday Dinner
As when you arrive back to the overworld it will be night-time, so in the case of doing these achievements you will have to start the game over.
Here is a guide that will help with these achievements should you need to start over [link]
The Actual Exploit
Assuming you are trapped in the Meat Circus with no way to get out, then CONGRATULATIONS PSYCHONAUT
Time to leave the circus…
-
If you are still in the Meat Circus or any other part of the game, use the smelling salts to go back to the Collective Unconsciousness and head into Lungfishopolis.
-
After doing so, proceed through the level until you reach the area with the huge towers and planes flying over them. This is the same area where you had to jump onto the boats in order to get to the final island to fight Kochamara.
-
Once there, go to the tower closest to the ocean in the direction of the island and climb to the top of it.
It should be this specific tower toward the right of the picture. Kochamara island is toward the left. -
After climbing the tower and eliminating the planes so that they don’t bother you, give yourself a bit of a running start and make as bestly timed a double jump as you can toward Kochamara Island
- You should be spamming Psi-Blast while you are falling as you don’t have levitate to help you float
- Your jump doesn’t have to be ‘extremely’ precise as I’ve made the jump with and without using the water to boost across
- You don’t have to worry about missing the jump as you won’t lose any lives and the planes won’t respawn. Take as much time as you need.
-
With all luck, you hopefully have reached the coast of the final island and have triggered the loading zone that will send you to Kochamara Island!

Going Back To Camp and Final Notes
- Once you’ve completed all the steps, feel free to pat yourself on the back because the hard part is officially over!
- The only thing left now to do is climb onto the Radio Tower as you did during the original mission and the same cutscene will trigger.
- Skipping this cutscene will plop you onto the coastline of the Asylum where you are free to roam around gathering whatever collectables you hadn’t gotten before.
- Getting back to the main campground is easy as well as you can go back to the coastline and call Linda (the lungfish) to take you back.
And that’s honestly all there is to it. Once you’re back in the overworld you’re free to do whatever you want as the game will just assume you never went into Meat Circus in the first place.
If for whatever reason you decide you want to go back to the Collective Unconsciousness you’re not locked out of it by doing this exploit. You can just go back to the Asylum, find one of the patients (most likely Boyd as he’s the closest), and use the door on them to go back into their minds. There you can use your smelling salts and be transported back into the Collective Unconsciousness.
If you want to go back to the overworld again, you don’t have to worry about doing the exploit again as when you go back to Lungfishopolis you’ll be placed back onto Kochamara Island and you can just repeat the process all over again.
As a result I cannot stress enough that you should collect EVERYTHING on Lungfishopolis before doing this as you will not be able to do so after.
With that being said, I want to thank you all for reading this guide. If I happened to make any errors feel free to let me know and I’ll try to fix them annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd…
