Overview

An up-to-date modding guide for KotOR II, created with compatibility in mind. Always updated when new compatible mods are released.

Introduction

This is likely going to be my second-largest guide to date, so make sure you read the instructions carefully and as always, I’m here to help in case things go south. This guide is continuously being tested and updated with new mods as needed.

Please note I recommend using the Legacy Steam version and not the Asypr version, but it’s not a strict requirement. Right click on the game in your Steam Library > Betas > legacypc.

Do not use the TSL Workshop, or anything on it. Using it will break your game.

KotOR II in Widescreen

For those of you not using the Asypr Steam Version

There are (if I recall correctly) two ways to patch your KotOR II executable to be in Widescreen. Because Hex Editing is a complicated and time-consuming process, we’re going to be using the same Universal Widescreen method I used in my first guide, only for the second game.

Patching to Widescreen requires a cracked version of the KotOR II executable which can be found here: [link].

Replace in your game directory.

Download Universal Widescreen here:

1. Launch Universal Widescreen
2. Select Star Wars Knight of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords from the dropdown and choose the directory where you installed the game
3. Write your resolution in the boxes (Ex: 2560, 1440)

You also need to edit your swkotor2.ini file.

1. Under [Display Options] Replace Width and Height with your monitor resolution (Ex: Width=2560, Height=1440). Keep RefreshRate at 60 as anything higher seems to mess with the game cinematics.
2. Under [Graphics Options] do the same as you did before except this time for some reason the width and height are in opposite places. (Ex: Height=1440, Width=2560)

Download the steam version and copy the .gui files to your override

Copy the files from override to your Override folder and say yes to overwrite.

Just copy the files from the first folder to your override (The files within the folder that says “FOR OVERRIDE FOLDER”)

Mod Installs

Please note that any mod that makes use of the TSLPatcher includes a .ini file that you can edit so it points to your directory so you don’t need to browse for your directory every time.

Here’s how to do that
In the tslpatcher folder, open the .ini (usually called changes.ini, but sometimes if the installer is split, it might be called something else) and look for the lines:

LookupGameFolder=
LookupGameNumber=

Replace the numbers on the end so they are as follows:

LookupGameFolder=2
LookupGameNumber=2

To utilize these methods, make sure your registry points to the current/correct path of your game folder. Open Regedit (type in search), and navigate to

Double click on path and paste your game directory location here. If there isn’t one, right click and choose “Create String Value” and call it path. Double click and paste your game directory location.

Run the TSLPatcher for both options
1. Run base installation
2. Run Additional Patch for M4-78 v1.3 and v1.5
3. Copy the files from the Robe Texture patch archive and drop in your override. Say yes to overrwrite, this will fix the conflicts with any robes that replace the vanilla meshes.
