How to use the XBox 360 controller with Windows 8

Overview

A simple guide to make Evoland recognize the XBox 360 controller as a usable gamepad if you have Windows 8 as your OS.

Specifics…

I can only confirm that this works on Windows 8 Pro using an XBox 360 control as my gamepad, but I seen quite a few people asking how to do this…and I’d almost be willing to bet that this same trick will work with other versions of Windows as well.

First thing is first…get to the Evoland file.

Close completely out of the game.

Go to Computer.

Then C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonEvoland

That is the default path, but if you are comfortable enough to change the path, you probably won’t need this guide to begin with.

Now that you are here.

In the Evoland file is the “Evoland” application and an application called “Pad”.

Right click on the “Evoland” and go to Properties.

From there, click on the Compatibility tab.

Under Compatibility Mode, check the box by “Run this program in compatibility mode for:”
Then in the drop down box, click on Windows 7.

Now, near the bottom of the Properties window, you’ll see Privilege Level.
Check that box to run the program as an administrator.

Click “Apply” or “Okay”.

Now for “Pad”

Repeat all of the steps that you performed on the “Evoland” applicaion except do it on the “Pad” application instead.

Hit “Okay” when you are done.

Almost done.

When you are done with all of the previous steps, run the Evoland game in Steam and your XBox controller should be recognized by the game.

Just go to options in the Evoland main menu and bind your keys on your controller and you’re finished.
