When dealing with Infantry (e.g. Scouts), fire resistant Infantry (e.g. Heretics) or Commander units, all rounds except for Vengeance rounds are a viable option. The Hellfire rounds though are to be preferred as they deal an extra 1,5 dps for 4 seconds (damage over time).

When fighting Heavy Infantry (e.g. Tactical Marines), Kraken Penetrator rounds are the best choice.

When fighting Super Heavy Infantry, such as Terminators, Kraken Rounds or Vengeance rounds are both a viable option though Kraken Rounds are preferable since there might be Heavy Infantry around too and switching amunition takes time and adds stress to your micro-management.

Vehicles are best met with Vengeance rounds loaded in, as are all sorts of buildings. But really, you want to shoot buildings down with a missile launcher.

It is noteworthy, that Vengeance rounds have a lower base dps than the other rounds because of the higher reload duration (+6s).

Accuracy/Damage against cover

This section is important to read because up until now there is no justification for Dragonfire rounds to ever be loaded in. What happens though when your enemy uses cover or enters a building to escape, thinking he can now take you out at her/his leisure? You load in the Dragonfire rounds!

The following two tables show the multipliers for each cover type and round:

As soon as units use cover or enter buildings, your accuracy and damage are greatly reduced, giving your opponent an advantage. Dragonfire rounds ignore cover though! They do full damage with full accuracy, even when the enemy Infantry enters a building.
