How I Stop Worrying And Love Perma Stun for Pillars of Eternity

How I Stop Worrying And Love Perma Stun

Overview

The guide will show you the cheap way of beating the game.

Introduction

Pillar of Eternity have so many status effects to prevent the enemy from attacking you. So it naturally to abuse these type of tools. Permanently stun lock your enemies will give you an easy road to victory.

TL:DR Short Version

STUN STUN STUN STUN STUN STUN WIN. That’s it.

1: Cast/Use Single target or AOE Stun, Paralyzed, Petrified, Prone, Unconscious in any combination and win the the battle.

2: Alternatively cast Terrified, Confused, Charmed, Dominated, Stuck in any combination to knock them out of the fight.

Status Effects

Stun, Paralyze, and Petrified are the top three stuns. Prone and Unconscious knock the enemies down giving you similar stun effects.

Terrified and Confused stop them from attacking. While Charmed and Dominated turn your enemies into allies which basically stop them from attacking you. However you can’t attack Charmed and Dominated allies. You have to wait for the effects to wear out. Stuck prevent movement which can be useful in some cases.

Pick these type of skills over others because these status effects make hard fights into cake walks.

Respec

You can respec your characters in the game. Respec mean you can redo your characters without starting the game over. Go to any inn and talk to the innkeeper. There will be an option to respec your characters for a small fee.

Wizard

Wizard is the primary class doing most of the stunning.
Gaze of the Adragan (Petrifie) is the best AOE stun in the game. Unfortunately it is available late in the game.

Ninagauth’s Shadowflame, Arkemyr’s Capricious Hex, and Fetid Caress are Paralyze effects. Fetid Caress is very good because later on you can pick it as a class ability, meaning you can cast one time per encounter.

Call to Slumber (Unconscious) is one of the best AOE stun spell because it have a large radius.

Stun: Dimensional Shift

Chanter

Chanter have only three status effects. All of which are AOE. Chanter can use it as many time as you want as long as the chanter reach the the require phase. The fastest way to reach the require phase is to spam At the Sight of their Comrades, their Hearts Grew Bold (+10 Fortitude +10 Will).

At the Sound of His Voice, the Killers Froze Stiff (Paralyze) and The Thunder Rolled like Waves on Black Seas (Stun). Reny Daret’s Ghost Spake, “I’ll Catch You, Ben Fidel” (Terrified) is rarely used by me.

Cipher

Cipher by far have the most status stun effects. Like the Chanter Cipher have no limits on how many time the effects can be use as long as as the cipher have enough focus.

Prone: Amplified Wave and Mind Wave

Paralyze: Mental Binding

Stun: Silent Scream. One of the most use spells. It stun and do damage.

Stuck: Mental Binding

Dominate: Puppet Master and Ringleader. If you have the focus it.

Confuse: Mind Plague and Tenuous Grasp

Charm: Ringleader and Whisper of Treason

Druid

While druid doesn’t have much stun effects, they can put a consistent amount of pressure to help maintain perma stun.

Paralyze: Hold Beasts

Prone: Calling the World’s Maw

Stun: Overwhelming Wave and Relentless Storm

Charm: Charm Beast very limited uses

Terrified: Nature’s Terror

Ranger

Ranger like fighters can keep knocking their opponents down. Don’t discount their prone and stuck abilities. Ranger can help maintain the perma lock.

Prone: Master’s Call and Takedown

Stuck: Binding Roots

Priest

Spam prone spells. Don’t discount prone!

Prone: Pillar of Faith and Repulsing Seal

Fighter

Don’t discount prone!

Prone: Clear Out and Knock Down

Barbarian

Terrified: Barbaric Shout

Rogue

None.

Palidain

None.

Paralyze Scroll

Paralyze Scrolls is plan B. Also known as I Win Button. Buy and craft Paralyze Scrolls as many as possible because they are overpower AOE stun. The only drawback is the high lore needed to use them.

Conclusion

Pillar of Eternity isn’t a hard game as long as you understand how to abuse the game mechanics. We can agree perma stun lock is at the high end of abusability. Not allowing your enemies to take a turn ever is easy mode which I have nothing against. I like easy and fun games.
