Overview
A simple guide for a comfortable start.
Starting guide for Salt Village
Forewords: IF you have read the manual for guide, you will see it say you can cook using the stove, I haven’t been able to do that.
There are bandits in the mountain and there will be a quest to defeat them, I haven’t been able to trigger it.
There is a tiger roaming the wood (the hunting area), I haven’t encountered it.
There are cattle standing near the river, you can ride them if your riding skill is enough.
A merchant always at the entrance with guard. He will buy and sell thing at better price than the hunter and salt foreman. And he always has 600, you can refill his coffer by saving and loading.
The guide:
If you choose your character to start at Salt village, you have a chance to gain some easy money, exp and combat proficiencies, especially for bow.
– Just talk to your mother, village head and your brother. Then proceed to the house in to the left of the salt storage (the one with a villager standing inside), interact with the basket and take the medicine herb.
– Head to the Hunter on the hill in front of the entrance (look at the entrance and look up to see the hunter with yellow arrow pointing at him).
– Talk to him and tell him he got a wound, he will ask for the medicine herb. Give it to him for free or exchange for the tiger skin. The tiger skin is valuable.
– Talk to him and start practice shooting, score more than 70 and he will give you a set of bow and arrow along with a short blade.
– Now head down hill in the direction of the target, you will reach another section of the village, the entrance is guarded, head to the gate and you will see a merchant standing near or he is walking toward the gate. Sell the tiger skin and the bamboo sword to him.
– Now turn around and head along the river to reach wood, nearby there is another hunter that is chopping wood, talking to him reveal that he will buy any skin you have for 50. It’s a rip off so just ignore him. Merchant buy skin for 120 each and 51 for raw meat.
– Set out to hunt and gain exp, bow proficiency, raw meats and skins. Stay quiet and make your shot count. Gather the meat and skin, then leave using tab. There are three types of prey which are deer (smallest, fastest and weakest, yield 1 skin + 1 raw meat) , Sambar (Bigger, slower, tougher, yield 1 skin + 2 raw meat), wild horse (biggest, slowest, toughest, yield 1 skin + 2 raw meat), and 1 tiger (rare) that yield 1 tiger skin in the area. The best prey to hunt is wild horse since each horse yield 1 skin and 3 raw meats (earn 270 + exp + bow proficiency) so just hunt two wild horses and go back to the village to sell the harvest, then set out to hun again. Repeat this a many time as you want since the merchant money is refill after each of your hunting trip. Or you can stock up to full inventories, then deposit in basket (the one you got the medicine herb). Fill it and your inventory with skin and raw meat. Then go to sell them to the merchant, he will come up short so save and reload to refill his money. But it seem the wild horse roam near the area of the tiger lair so it might be a little dangerous (I see footprint and a crevice that look like a perfect hiding spot for tiger).
– In extremely rare occasion, you may encounter the tiger (according to the manual). It’s quick so using your blade is preferable. Kill it to get another tiger skin. Hope you had bought the best cloth for defense from the merchant so you won’t get kill easily.
– There is another method of making money by making salt, head to the salt well, talk to the foreman and he will teach you how to make salt. He also offer to buy salt from you for 50, another rip off. Just focus on making salt, stock it up in your inventory and the basket (the one you get the medicine herb) then sell to the merchant. if the merchant come up short, save and reload to refill his money. You can also repeatedly do this just like hunting. But hunting is more rewarding.
– You can gain fighting proficiencies (not ranged) by sparing with Dun Zi, he is practicing in the middle of the village. Talk to him to start practice fight.
– When you are tired of making money, just proceed with the story. If you want to have a sandbox adventure, make sure to have 2000 to pay off the military call.
