Overview
Written for idiots by an idiot, a very rough and stupid guide to creating and equipping custom troops
1. Hiring units
-Only units that are level five or under can be used to create custom troops. Farmers and peasant women can be found roaming around in certain areas or can be hired at towns under recruit regulars. However the level, attributes and skills of the chosen unit will determine the level of the created custom troop so you’ll want to use a unit that is level five.
-The easiest and most efficient way of creating the custom troop you want is to select camp, and in the take an action menu there will be a toggable option called Recruit volunteers everyday. Turn this on and you will start to rectruit units once a day.
-The type of units you will recruit will depend on the area you are in so if you are within the Han kingdom’s main territory then you will begin recruiting Han farmers which are good for making custom infantry. If, for example, you wanted to create a custom horse archer then you should move into Xiongnu territory as their recruits will have skills suited for horse archery. The units you recruit will be level five so make sure you dont upgrade them.
2. Preparing equipment
-Before we enter the custom troop menu you should find the equipment that you will want your custom unit to use. Keep in mind that their initial stats will be low so they will only be able to use low tier equipment.
-For your first custom troop you’ll want to use equipment that can be mass produced. Go to any town,
enter the market place and select the customize equipment option. This will open a menu that will
show the equipment that the town is selling which can currently be mass produced. The equipment in
this menu can also be found at the normal vendors in that town so if you see a weapon or armour that can be massproduced and you want it for your troop then search for it in the normal market options and buy it.
Once you’ve bought it you can then sell it to another town and it will appear in that town’s customizable equipment so if you want to produce all your equipment form one town then search around for the equipments you want then sell them to the town of your choice. You only need to sell it to the town once and then it can be mass produced.
-Mass producing equipment can be expensive so if you’re early in game then only produce small quantities and produce the same amount of each piece of equipment. In order for a custom troop to be created each unit is going to need a full set of the equipment that you have chosen and it has to be those exact equipments for each unit. So for a very basic custom troop you could give them only body armour and a weapon. To do this enter the customize equipment menu in the market place and select the equipment you want your custom troop to use. Use the slider to choose the amount of equipment you want to order. Do this for each piece of equipment you want your custom troop to use and have them all producing the same quantity. It will take a day before the order is completed and you can collect your equipment.
3. Transport team
-When mass producing equipment, you wont be able to store it all in your inventory so the first thing to do is to build a transport team. Go to the market and select the build a transport team option which will cost you 1000zhu.
-Now once you’ve built your transport team, keep them very close to the city where you have made your orders and select the take delivery of equipment option in the market place. At the bottom right there will be an option labeled Transport(set). Click this once so it changes to Transport(OUT) and then click on your equipment and collect the order. The equipment will now be held by the transport team.
-Talk to you transport team and there will be an option to camp. Select it and your transport team will make camp and then exchange soldiers with them. Give them the amount of level 5 units that you have gathered from recruiting volunteers but only give the amount that you have equipment for. Once you’ve done that it’s then time to create your custom troop.
4. Creating your custom troop
-Now select the manage custom troops option from within the transport team camp. Select new troop and you will be given a slider with the available troops that can be trained. Only train the troops whose base stats you want used for your custom troop. I have the option of choosing farmers or Han farmers so I chose the stronger Han Farmers. Only train the amount of troops that you have equipment for. If you train too many then you wont be able to equip them right away.
-Once you’ve done that you then rename your custom troop and can equip them. Click equip and select your new troop and you are then able to equip weapons and armours to your new troops. When youre done, select back and then wait until the custom troop finishes training. You will be notified when they are ready and then just exchange troops with the transport team and add your new custom troop to your party.
5. Adding members
-Now that you have your own custom unit you will be able to add more members to it. All you have to do is repeat the initial steps of gathering the same type of volunteer unit that you used to create the custom troop as well as making sure that you have ordered enough of the same equipment for the new members.
-Dont forget to give the volunteers and the equipment to the transport team before you try adding new members
-Also if any of your custom troop performs well in a battle the their is a chance that they will become a companion character that joins your party.
