Overview
-Fix crashes (when entering places from the map + no dvd errors + other crashes)-Can launch the game normal through steam and playtime will be logged.
Introduction:
After following this guide you can launch the game normal through steam, with your playtime counting.
It will solve IN-game crashes and even the DVD errors some people get.
You might have seen the tool I use in this guide in other guides. The difference here is that we only use the tool to fix the crashes/erros by creating a new launcher.
Afterwards we get rid of this tool and you will never have to use it again. Unlike other guides where you must continue to use the tool to start the game.
TESTED ON WINDOWS 10
How to?
Download “EMILauncher.exe” from here:
[link]
Place this into your game folder ( Steam steamapps common Escape from Monkey Island) run it and go to “Change Resolution”:
-Pick the default one 640*480. (nothing else)
-Click on “Change”
-Exit the launcher.
This will create “PatchedMonkey4.exe”
Delete your original “Monkey4.exe” file.
Rename “PatchedMonkey4.exe” to “Monkey4.exe”
You can now safely delete “EMILauncher.exe” and launch the game through steam.
You will no longer experience any crashes when entering places from the map.
This should also fix other random crashes and even the no disc (dvd) errors some people seem to get. I myself experienced zero crashes during my playthrough after applying this fix (Windows 10).
PS:
Don’t use this program to change the resolution settings to something higher.
This because it will be stretched in fullscreen anyway.
If you want to properly fix/increase the resolution look at my other tutorial:

BONUS TIP FOR FIXING TANK CONTROLS:
-Use a controller (xbox360 one worked for me).
-Make sure it’s recognised by steam (Steam => Settings => Controller)
-Launch the game and go to the ingame options.
-Change “Movement Mode” to “Camera-Relative”.
This way your character will move in the direction of your stick, so no more resident evil tank controls.
Don’t forget to Configure the keys (also in options) so the D-pad on your controlller cycles objects up and down. This makes it easier to select what you want ingame.
