Overview
This is a helpful guide to playing Amnesia: TDD
Introductory
Sometimes hiding in a closet, barracading yourself in a room, and even closing the door behind you can make all the difference. Welcome to a guide to Amnesia: TDD.
Monsters
There are some monsters you should know about.
1. Servent Grunt:
The servent grunt walks at a medium-fast pace. It can see and is refered to as The Gatherers. This monster is not as fast as the Brute but if it spots you will run fast. If it hits you it slows down then starts running again.
2. Grunt:
This monster is much more different. This monster cannot see but it can hear. If it gets too close to you (or you get to close to it) it can sense your presence and a chase will be initated (if you didn’t already know.) It walks slowly but if it chases you, it is very fast. The reason it is slow is because it has a metal contraption on its right arm.
3. Water Monster:
This monster is one you cannot actually see. It only appears in the Cellar Archives and the Cistern. It is represented as a splash. When a door is in it’s way (wink wink) it will smash it down.
4. Shadow:
The shadow is also a monster that cannot die, but can go on land. It represented by red mist surrounded by black smoke. It only appears in the Cells and the Inner Sanctum. I suggest not even attempting to look back. Doing so will slow you down.
What to do when a monster appear
Sometimes you need to hide from a monster. There is various ways to do this. The most common of them all is to hide behind an object. Hiding behind an object makes a monsters view of you obscure. Another good hiding technique is to hide in a closet. This makes it so that the monster cannot see you or sense your presence. You can peek but you may want to be careful. If the monster sees the door open. It investigates. What you can also do is make a wall out of boxes or barrels. The only downside to this is if you accidently move a barrel and the monster hears it, it will investigate and then you are big trouble.
How to save resources
Oil, Laudnaum, and Tinderboxes need to be used wisely. To save Oil, light Tinderboxes in rooms you will come back to later. Not reccomended for long hallways. You don’t need to use laudnaum when you have a few cuts or bruises. It’s fine to keep it at that point but if you come across barely concious or a wound is bleeding quite badly.
Sanity
Sanity is quite important. If you are at Crystal Clear or A slight headache your fine. But if your at hands are shaking and head is pounding, be cautious. If you get to …, you must start using light sources.
