Mass Effect (2007) Guide

Bring Down the Sky autoload.ini for Mass Effect (2007)

Bring Down the Sky autoload.ini

Overview

Having trouble with the BDtS installer? Installed Pinnacle Station and want to skip out on the installer because you already downloaded from origin? This guide is for you.Possibly a placeholder for a more comprehensive guide.

Disclaimer

This guide is going to have you copying a folder from one location to another and making an .ini file
It’s not rocket science so figure that out how to on your own time. Please don’t ask and instead google it or ask someone on your friends list. This guide also requires you to “read first then do”.

Introitus

I noticed some users on Steam Community and on EA’s forums reporting trouble installing BDtS related to an installer asking for a licence key. The only installer I see that doesn’t ask for a key that I’ve seen in the wild downloaded from EA is an 800MB installer. But BDtS’ install size is about 300MB. So why should you download 500MB of localizations you aren’t going to use.
If you’ve already downloaded ME1 through Origin to get Pinnacle Station then why not do the same process with BDtS?

I assume you read my other guide

[link]
That guide on importing Pinnacle Station from Origin it covers the basics of getting ME1 on Origin with your steam CD key and installing the Origin copy temporarily(because because Steam’s ME1 tends to have better performance than Origin’s ME1).

Give that a read and then come back to this guide.

You finished reading? Good. Moving on.

Transplant the DLC

Go to where Origin installed ME1 and look for the folder named “DLC” and look for the folder named “DLC_UNC”. That’s the BDtS and we’re going to copy it to your steam install or to another directory for later/backups.

Assuming you’ve already done this with Pinnacle Station then feel free to drop that folder into “Mass EffectDLC” of your steam install and then we create an .ini file and paste in the following content.

[Packages] 2DA1=BIOG_2DA_Vegas_GalaxyMap_X 2DA2=BIOG_2DA_Vegas_Merge_X 2DA3=BIOG_2DA_Vegas_AreaMap_X 2DA4=BIOG_2DA_Vegas_UI_X 2DA5=BIOG_2DA_Vegas_TreasureTables_X DotU1=PlotManagerDLC_Vegas PlotManagerConditionals1=PlotManagerDLC_Vegas.BioAutoConditionals PlotManagerStateTransitionMap1=PlotManagerAutoDLC_Vegas.StateTransitionMap PlotManagerConsequenceMap1=PlotManagerAutoDLC_Vegas.ConsequenceMap PlotManagerOutcomeMap1=PlotManagerAutoDLC_Vegas.OutcomeMap PlotManagerQuestMap1=PlotManagerAutoDLC_Vegas.QuestMap PlotManagerCodexMap1=PlotManagerAutoDLC_Vegas.DataCodexMap GlobalTalkTable1=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_ES=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_ES.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_PL=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_PL.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_DE=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_DE.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_IT=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_IT.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_FR=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_FR.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_CS=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_CS.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_HU=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_HU.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_PLPC=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_PLPC.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_RU=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_RU.GlobalTlk_tlk GlobalTalkTable1_RA=DLC_Vegas_GlobalTlk_RA.GlobalTlk_tlk [GUI] NameStrRef=182170 DescriptionStrRef=182209 ImagePackage=”GUI_SF_PRC2_SaveLoad.Images_PRC2″ ImageFrame=”shotOne” CreditsFile=”BIOCredits_DLC_Vegas.ini”

One final thing. Go to “Mass EffectBinaries” and launch “MassEffectConfig.exe” and under the repair tab you’ll want to click “Delete Local Shader Cache”.

You can now play ME1 with both DLC’s installed to steam in the event the installer either didn’t work or you heard about pinnacle station first.
What things should look like if you didn’t mess up.

If at first you don’t succeed

Re-read to make sure you didn’t skip an important step. i.e. extensions.
And run steam as Admin once.

I used mods LOL

Then read the directions and notes for the mod or mods you used. This guide is for a non-modded install of ME1. If you do the things outlined by this guide and are having issues, it may very well be the mod(s) causing you to have those issues. Asking here for support on a mod is the same as going to the wrong forum.
