Overview
A simple ini tweak to prevent bodies from vanishing.
Hello there!
Tired to see your slain enemies magically vanish into thin air after every firefight? Wanna see the trail of bodies and carnage you left behind in order to save the galaxy?
All you have to do is to edit a few values in the “BIOGame.ini” file found under “C:UsersYourUsernameDocumentsBioWareMass EffectConfig”.
1. Open the file with any text editor.
2. Search for “corpse”. This should lead you to these entries:
3. Replace the values after the “=” with 0 or 0.0 (see below). It should look like this now:
IMPORTANT:
All these entries exist twice, in two different sections of the file, namely [BIOC_Base.BioArtPlaceable] and [BIOC_Base.BioPawn]. Make sure to replace the values in both instances of each entry. Just keep searching for “corpse” until you reach the next ones.
4. Save the file, launch the game and enjoy the carnage! Corpses stay now for an unlimited amount of time and provide a great aftermath after every enemy encounter.
Known issues:
-Dead bodies very rarely disappear after some cutscenes.
-Corpses vanish after reloading a save and/or loading a new area (e.g. exiting a planetary base).
-The new tweaked settings may reset sometimes after changing some ingame options. In this case simply reapply them. This tweak is best applied after you’re done with the other configurations.
-There is a rare possibility for the game to crash at the virmire mission, immediately before fighting Saren on his hover thingy. If you are affected by this, save and quit the game before that particular event, reset “m_fCorpseCleanupFirstAttemptTime” to its standard value (5.0) and finish the mission. Zero the value again after the mission is done. I have yet to find a better workaround for this.
Note: Special ammo like incendiary/phasic/chemical rounds still dissolves bodies as usual. For the best aftermath experience use ammo types that don’t disintegrate people, like sledgehammer, shredder, tungsten etc.
