Overview
Everything is better in ultrawide.
Introduction
For those of you who, like me, prefer your experience in ultrawide, it is disappointing but not surprising when a game lacks support for it. Luckily, this can be fixed in a lot of games with a hex editor. Let’s do that here for WHAT THE GOLF?
This is my first guide, so be kind!
Enabling Ultrawide for WHAT THE GOLF?
1. Download or launch your hex editor (I recommend HxD).
2. Press CTRL + O.
3. Navigate to your “commonWHAT THE GOLF” folder. Open UnityPlayer.dll
4. Make a backup of “UnityPlayer.dll” to a place of your choosing. Alternatively, if anything goes wrong, you can simply delete the file and verify the integrity of the game files in Steam later.
5. Press CTRL + R.
6. Click “hex-values”. Then under “Search for:” enter 39 8E E3 3F, and “Replace with” the hex value of your choosing, such as:
• 26 B4 17 40 (2560×1080)
• 39 8E 63 40 (3840×1080)
• 8E E3 18 40 (3440×1440)
• 9A 99 19 40 (3840×1600)
7. I like to have “prompt on replace” checked just to make sure I am actually replacing something and I have done it correctly.
8. Click “all” for the search direction.
9. Click “Replace all”.
10. Click File > Save, or CTRL + S.
11. Launch!
Enjoy.
