How to Kill Everyone* in the Skalitz Tutorial!

Overview

A guide on how to kill everyone in the tutorial Skalitz village.* *Except for unkillable characters, like you’re father for example. A great way to earn some experience towards skills in the early game, some fairly good loot, and good pratice.

Introduction: Why?!

Introduction: Why!?

  • Once you get over the fact that it’s just a game, it’s oddly satisfying. (If it makes you feel better, everyone dies anyways… )
  • Helps you gain possibly needed experience for skills. Specifically, stealth, lockpicking, pick pocketing, and skills related to combat.
  • It’s good practice for combat, stealth, lock picking, and pick pocketing if you haven’t played for awhile, or it’s your first time. (Although, I would not reccommend this for starters).
  • Allows you to find great early game loot!
  • It’s kind of funny…

*Note that doing things like this (^^^) will ruin quests like this, and can allow you to cheese, which is how I have the perk in the next picture. (Which, I am not explaining in this guide as it’s overpowered and no fun).
Sidenotes:

  • This will take a lot of time, to the already long tutorial.
  • This does ruin the realistic effect and experience, so I would only reccommend to 2nd time and plus players.
  • I personally did this because I had just finished a merciful achievement game. (Where you (spoiler) cannot kill anybody except for Runt ). Then I got sick of hardcore after Talmberg and did it again in normal mode, mostly out of boredom.

The Guard Situation

Picking Them Off

  • First, I would suggest leveling up your stealth skill by knocking out villagers that are away from everyone else. A good example of this is a farmer up by the gate in the area by the castle by the wagon of hay. (I would not recommend killing these people because you could knock them out multiple times if needed).
  • Second, you should find a dagger. People may have them on them, or you could buy one from a merchant. This prevents guards from waking back up and running into you. (This happens when you knock a guard out and don’t have enough time to kill them afterwards).
  • Lastly, you may want a few Savior Schnapps before attempting to knock out and killing guards.
  • Finally, your first guard kill should be either the guard by the gate on the opposite side of the castle or the gate down the hill from the Deutsch’s house. The guard by the Deutsch’s is more secluded and it’s harder to get caught.
  • If you have knocked out the guard, kill him, quickly take all of his loot, drop the chainmail, (or you decide, it’s preferencial) and get out of there. (People generally don’t ever notice the bodies down there, but just in case). If you took out the other guard, everything applies again, except have a lot more haste because you will likely be caught.
  • If you are wanted at this point, stick to the outside by the walls of the villages. I SWEAR THE GUARDS GLITCH AND HAVE SUPERVISION!
  • Make sure you equip weapons from the previous guard, just in case for now, but you will need good weapons later. (Make sure that you have enough stats for them).
  • Take out the guards around the perimeter of the village. Sometimes, a new guard will go to the location of the previously taken out guard. A guard will also occasionally go up the path to the gate up to the castle, this is also a great location.
  • At this point, you most likely would have failed a few times taking out a guard, and this is where you have the option to:
    • FIGHT
    • FLEE
    • The Hussite War Wagon Strategy…?
  • Let me first clarify, this is a cheesy tactic. Basically, this takes advantage of the AI’s lack of intelligence detecting you in its surroundings. This is the ONLY strategy for Hardcore mode, atleast in my opinion. (Also, I came up with the name, the name makes sense. Look up the Hussites if you’re curious, it’s quite relevant to this game).
  • This is how to use the HWW Strategy:
    • Flee
    • Find a good jumping point into a wagon. (Make sure it large enough to give you distance).
    • Jump into the wagon, try to get away in the cart from the enemy if possible.
    • Wait… (they will talk like they see you, but they will give up eventually).
    • It is possible to use a bow against them in here like a true Hussite Wagon, but you won’t be able to fire properly because you most likely do not have enough stats required.
    • The guards should give up like they had lost track of you, make sure not to move a muscle. If they notice you again, try a different position in the cart/wagon. If still doesn’t work, you may have to be patient, or give up. (It should work unless the wagon is too small, but at that point the enemy is likely to have killed you from being able to reach you). If they are an archer and start shooting at you, try to change positions, but it’s hard to counter this. However, this is rare.
    • Make sure to hold still for 10 seconds after they leave.
    • Use caution leaving the scene.
  • Tips:
    • The best wagon is the coal wagon in the center of town, go onto the wooden platform behind it to jump into it. This wagon has never failed me, you just have to be patient and move to different positions a lot.
    • The same tactic works on anything else you can use the same concept on. I’ve have found the log piles and houses work too. (Logs work even better most of the time than the wagons). Going ontop of houses feels cool though!
I would practice going up this house, this is the only house that I have found you can go on. (Atleast, in the tutorial). You have jump on it from a sprint on the right corner. (Facing the wooden walls). You will then get on the lower part, go to the middle, and sprint up. Be careful, fall damage on hardcore mode can kill from here! (I have lost a lot of progress doing this.)
  • Anyways, once the outside perimeter guards (Not the guards by the castle gate) have been taken care of (There should be another guard I haven’t mentioned on the side by Kunesh’s house, the farmers on the right shouldn’t notice), you will start noticing guards in close proximity to each other, or are just in bad positions. (The catchpole sits outside the only merchant building in front of a wall for example).
  • This is when adopting the HWW strategy is helpful becuase you need to utilize hit-and-run tatics on them. Try to strike the head, preferably with a mace if possible. This will take some time for a single kill, and is risky, but mastering the HWW is key. You can fight them, but early game combat is Brutal! (And pratically impossible, for me atleast, in hardcore mode).
  • You can also try luring the guards with dead bodies, villagers will see the corpse and run to get a guard. The guard will look around the area by the corpse and leave, when they are walking back sneak up on them, and take them out.
  • Eventually, you will have to deal with the pair of the guards by the castle gate. MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETE THE PART OF THE QUEST WITH THEM FIRST. You should lure them as stated before, and try killing all other guards (I will go over them soon) first to make sure the villagers will run to them. They will scout out the area and head back. Then sneak up and take them out.
The other guard may or may not notice, be ready to run, if not, knock them out as well.
  • Everything already said should be relavent to take out every guard. Make sure you have not forgotten the guards by the castle gate (as previously mentioned) the Baliff outside the Inn, the catchpole either at the Deutsch’s or outside the Merchant lady’s building, and the shop guard inside the building. To make sure you haven’t forgotten any, commit a crime and see where the villagers flee to, they will lead you to any remaining guards, but be careful. If no guards remain, they will run aimlessly away until they are far away from you.

Now What?

Now What Should You Do!?

  • I would suggest pratice committing crimes such as lock picking, and pick pocketing with no fear of trouble.
  • Enjoy your accomplishment by knocking out people for fun. Take note that people will run away from you eventually which can ruin parts of quests. (Like with Bianca for example).
  • Steal from vendors right in front of them! Punch people for fun and see their shocked reaction!
  • Realize you’ve invested a long time doing something pschyopathic!
  • Kill everyone to up your stats after buying what you need from them. (You can’t kill people in the inn for some reason though…)
  • Bragging rights that you’ve tested the limits of this game?
  • Bully Kunesh some more?
  • Kill the horses for experience for stats? No?! You monster! You couldn’t do anything worse than that! Oh wait…
  • Enjoy these pictures…

My personal favorite thing is to make sure a large amount of conflict in this game never happens… :

Endnotes

I have completed this on normal and hardcore modes with all negative perks, so it is possible. (Yes, without the cheesed stats from that previous picture).

From what I know, this does not screw up the rest of the game. I have done this twice on hardcore and normal modes and have seen (minor spoiler) Kunesh at Rattay for example. (I haven’t gotten far enough in those games for other characters, but it most likely also applies).

If you have any questions, or corrections, complaints feel free to comment, and I’ll try to answer and correct. I know I must have a few errors in here, and that I overuse on parathesis.

Also, thanks for taking the time to read my guide!
